Yes, Japan was bombed in 1945 and my great uncle developed the hydrogen bomb in 1954. "The hydrogen weapon was inevitable. The Russians published the principles of the fission bomb in the late 1930s. The Germans knew of it early in World War II. Simply, its time had come. And I was there for its detonation, hands on, in March 1954." The Long Shadow Of The Bomb Curtis G. Chezem, 32, K.C.C.H. A good read if you have a few minutes.

We have had our savings dwindle with the cost of living into the stratosphere, and we are finding it impossible to replace them. We can get by, but can't seem to get ahead. Japan was not going to surrender before the nukes were dropped. They had convinced their population to fight with garden tools when the invasion by the US came. We are still using Purple Heart medals today that were made during WW2 in the anticipation of the losses we would take to invade Japan. The military practiced a concept called Bushido which surrender was not even remotely considered or an option. The Emperor at the time also practiced this. If you look into ancient Japan’s history they had never been conquered and it was unacceptable to surrender under any conditions.

Just wait & see ‘what’ is coming… …a nation’s strength can be judged on two metrics: energy reserves & war capacity Add ‘information’ to this reductive assessment of ‘strength’, and that ‘trinity’ will make the manhattan project look no more technologically advanced than rubbing two sticks together to produce a “warm light for all mankind”. Epiphany = witnessing this ‘promethean nation’… …and thereafter, ‘The Sublime’, I have no doubt that all but the most evil among us will cease to be. So yes, I agree with you: we can never ALL come to an epiphany, and stop.

There were no fussion bombs before castle bravo, which took place in the 1950's. So both Nagasaki and Hiroshima bombs were fission, which are less lethal. USSR detonated the most powerful fussion bomb in the early 60's, with unimaginable power and potential destruction. Which is terrifying because they halved from 100 megatons to 50. And it still sent shock waves 3 times around the world Edit: The first fussion bomb was Ivy Mike and not castle bravo

I remember the nuclear drills in school back during the 1960s. They would make us cower underneath our wooden desks and wait for the blast. But when we had tornado drills, they would send us into the hallway and have us kneel down next to the wall in order to shield ourselves from broken window glass. A bunch of nonsense. The kids today are oblivious to these things. My generation lived under the dark cloud of nuclear war and the threat was real ... still is.

There were two subcultures at that time in Japanese leadership: the "f*ck no, we fight til the literal death of the nation" types that committed that coup and were encouraging Japanese citizens on fashioning weapons out of bamboo or whatever they had available in case of an invasion and the "c'mon guys, it's over" group. And sadly the Empreror himself was fence-sitting for a good long while on those two sides. And the Russian invasion of Manchuria was kind of concurrent with the dropping of the bomb. The problem is, all meetings and records indicate U.S. leadership didn't know which was in charge because Japan *wasn't communicating at all one way or the other* about their intentions around that time. The US didn't know Japan was looking for Russia to help mediate or about those two sub-groups in Japanese leadership and which was the one making decisions. The war was marching on and by all indications, the "never surrender" group might as well have been calling the shots as far as the US was concerned. So yeah, when you have to draw up plans and estimate of casualties and you're looking at possible 3-5 mil US casualties and perhaps 10-15 x that in Japenese civilians (based on what happened in Saipan, Okinawa), of course the bomb is what you're gonna lean on to just end the fighting already. So nobody like to consider that several of these things could have led the Emperor and other leaders in Japan to finally surrender. A possible invasion by Russia from the north? A possible invasion by the US from the south? Protracted war all across Japan with millions of dead civilians AND the enemy can drop city-flattening bombs during all of that? A lot of things all at once probably lead to their surrender.

@@typicalrockhound9887 No, I had a revelation, there are universal truths to living a good life, all which Jesus Christ has beat. Love is the most important thing that is in this world, and god is love. The sacrifice of Christ coming down not only the died of the cross to beat death but also living in this tainted world by choice was in its self an act of love. If you ever ask yourself what has this world come to?? Why would anyone even risk the possibility of a nuclear exchange, it’s because love isn’t around anymore, unity, trust and respect aren’t sacred or valued anymore. I was this porn obsessed, lazy man, with no purpose in life, and the Bible opened my eyes to the truth. As if we were living in a matrix, money isn’t the answer to escape the matrix but love and devotion to the truth and Jesus Christ.
