I bought my can bus tester from you a month or so ago and I was just using it with the two pins to check for can hi/lo at different modules to isolate the bus. I never thought about using the data link connector attached to it. Duh. Man awesome tool.

I have a 2013 dodge charger R/T. I did this with an oscilloscope. My question is, I unplugged the instrument cluster at the STAR Connector and the glitching stopped. That would mean my instrument cluster is at fault correct?

That is correct , as a Cisco certified network engineer you by default are that. I designed networks from the ground up and also did the implementations. I wrote the code for all the routers and switches, and physically built them out and installed them.

@@bestwreckauto1158 As of my time designing networks for fortune 500 companies in the early 2000s I had MCSE, CCNA, CCNP, CCIE(written). So I would say during my time in corporate America you are wrong, now if companies are requiring different certification now I couldn't tell you as I left and became an entrepreneur around 2007.

​@@bestwreckauto1158no not at all, if you've ever seen the format for programming Cisco routers it's similar to code, some simply call it coding, or programming a router.. but I had no involvement with writing the actual code for the ios. I did However interface directly with Cisco and beta test some of the newer fixes and interfaced with the development teams.. I was also a programmer before that, so I regularly interfaced with development teams and assisted in debugging due to my background.

Kind of, you won't be able to connect directly to the star connector, if a gateway is involved obd2 port readings will be inaccurate. If you manually tap into the can bus you can see voltage, but it won't show you both can high and can low...
