The disease is much more common in countries where meat and dairy products are dietary staples than in countries where the basic diet consists of rice, soybean products, and vegetables such as broccoli, cauliflower, cole slaw, or sauerkraut. The underlying factor linking diet and prostate cancer is probably hormonal. Quit the meat dairy and eggs and you will cut your chances of getting prostate cancer short.

A flat, firm saddle like a Selle Royal Seta (not expensive) or equivalent, that is appropriately sized to provide correct support to your particular sit-bones. This effectively elevates the perineum out of the fray. Also, a 3-ish degrees nose-down attitude of the saddle keeps the saddle nose a little bit lower and again, out of the equation. Once I discovered this not so obvious solution, all discomfort became a thing of the past. Beyond this, correct crank length is another significant aspect of this situation. A crank that is too long causes over extension of the knee and consequently, exaggerated movement of the hips. I'm 5'10" (178cm) and 170mm cranks are vastly more comfortable for me than the typical 172.5 or 175 that come as standard fitment on frames recommended for my stature.

Dudes need to get serious and get over any hangups about 'checking down there'. I lost a cousin just over a year ago, at 53 to IHD, a condition that killed his father at 47..and our fathers are twins, I just turned 51. Hello..there's my wakeup call. Whilst I was getting a heart check, the doc says I best get 'the other check'. So that took care of a dilemma (in my own mind) of a digit in the widget, or do I just wing it and hope for the best. The next operation will involve taking tissue from inside my mouth and rebuilding the urethra . I want to cycle as it used to keep my weight in check and all the health benefits it brings . Yes. I went from a Fizik Antares which came with my new bike to a Specialized Power which has a big cut out. That solved the problem. But I used to have pressure and a little numbness before on all of my bikes. What was helping there was a small adjustment in the saddle position, maybe lower the saddle a bit or tilt down the nose slightly and of course use every possibility to pedal out of the saddle, for example accelerating after a narrow corner or passing over bridge.

I have no problems with my Sunlite C9 seat,its the wider type thats made for cruisers and such however I do like it on my mtb for commutes. Its nice because its comfy in any position even while sprinting,I couldn't do that with those skinny bike seats.

Have u tried ISM ADAMO - it's so good i've got three for all my bikes. I've also got pro stealth and Power specialized. ISM adamo is stil the most comfortable on the drops - it's as comfortable as sitting on the couch. Seriously comfortable.

Big Lampar Thanks - I’ve been thinking about a split nose saddle. I’m currently enjoying a Specialized Power saddle but I have to stand or adjust my position from time to time. I notice it’s very comfortable on a long climb and when I’m forward on it.

As a prostate cancer survivor and cyclist, my experience was that my PSA was elevated if I was tested soon after hard riding. It was lower if I was tested after not riding for a couple days. This is a great video, and a topic that men need to take seriously. The more you know, the better prepared you will be to deal with problems if and when they arise.

@reubendias184 жыл бұрын
I've noticed that this happens over long distances, long duration with a single posture. Easiest way out, tilt the seat downwards in front by a bit and it should ease the pressure down there. For MTBs and hybrid cycles it shouldn't be a problem based on their cushioning and shock absorbers.

This is a very helpful and informative upload. I'm 65 and 3 years ago diagnosed with a trace of what appears to be a benign prostate cancer, it hasn't advanced and my PSA levels are fine. Up until 10 years ago I cycled quite a lot. Now I've just ordered a new bike as I miss cycling and want to get fit again, so the reassurances given in the video are great news. I think I will however invest in a Brooks saddle, which should afford greater comfort and minimise any potential irritation.

@nospamallowed489011 ай бұрын
Good video. So in short, the numbness is annoying but not dangerous. Of course, there is a very good solution to the numbness... a recumbent bike or trike. Also, if your PSA is mildly elevated question any suggestion of a biopsy, there are better and non-invasive ways to test. The biopsy - especially in countries that are very averse to antibiotics - can lead to chronic bacterial infections and even more inflamation and raised PSA that is not necessarily an indicator of cancer. In other words... a poorly done test can cause worse issues.

Padding can increase blood vessel constriction.
@cartman200006 жыл бұрын
@@truantray oh yes it can, sometimes having "a lot" of cushioning(softness) can be a bad thing, as it can put too much pressure on the sensitive areas. I personally find thin padded, semi flexible, bike seats to be more comfortable for riding a bike for more than an hour(for numbness and general discomfort.), than ones with more cushioning.

I've had the numbness to the point that I was afraid of drops of pee, and not knowing if I was possibly leaking. Other than saddles, you can try different angles, standing up occasionally, and rest stops. Of course age is a factor as well. I am 55, so I am probably more likely than a 20 year old to run into this issue on a long ride.
@MaceUK712 жыл бұрын
I had to stop road cycling because of this as I used to have it really bad. THe feeling came back after terrible pins and needles down there which wasn't pleasant... Started to happen everytime I cycled for long distances and nothing would stop it no matter what I changed or tried.

Last year I restarted with cycling and while training longer rides, I get problems only with my left side butt. Due to that I checked the sattle, I found out, that my bone is wider than average. So I bought an 15cm wide SQLab sattle. Unfortunately the pain and problems are still be there. The issue is, where to find the right Dr to check this. I’m from Germany, and it is really difficult to get a good doctor who has also Know-how in cycling technic and how to fit a bike right ...

@budsadler4006 жыл бұрын
Excellent video. When I first started riding I also had a numbness issue that lasted just over a month. Needless to say it was rather disconcerting. The problem was not the bicycle but rather my tendency to slide forward on the saddle. I've since been much more conscious of maintaining a proper seating position.
