What I prefer about Glocks is that no matter what caliber one is shooting, the sight-picture/muscle memory remain virtually unchanged that imbues consistent handling of a firearms platform.

@thehifiguy9455 жыл бұрын
@@rickykurtz516 - That's an urban myth, my friend. That came about after the Harold Fish incident back in 2004 (who was later released from prison and cleared of all charges) and had nothing to do with the caliber that was used and everything to do with the prosecutor convincing the jury that it wasn't a justified shooting. The prosecutor threw everything he could at the case and tried to leverage the fact that the 10mm is more powerful than what police currently used at the time in an attempt to demonize the defendant, which the defense rebutted by explaining that it's no more powerful than the .357 Magnums that many police used to carry in earlier generations. The unfortunate truth of being involved in a defensive shooting, however, is that regardless of the caliber used and how justified the use of deadly force was, we live in a gun-phobic society with a liberally-biased justice system where criminals are treated like victims and victims are treated like criminals for political reasons. A lot of people have gone to jail over the years for what should've been ruled justified defensive shootings but a stacked jury felt otherwise - far more than most people realize, actually, but most aren't publicized nationwide due to plea deals and various other arrangements to reduce the charges, and the caliber most often used in these cases was a 9mm due to its popularity and high rate of adoption in the self-defense market. The takeaway from all of this is that you should avoid a defensive shooting like the plague as it will truly be the most stressful and expensive ordeal you'll ever have to go through, but if you have no other choice, just know that it doesn't matter what you're carrying and that you have about a 50% chance of ending up in jail no matter how justified you were in your actions because the prosecutor is going to crucify you in court, especially if you're white and the person you shot is part of a marginalized race or ethic group - then you're really toast.👌

I buy 10mm for 30 cents per round online. It’s not that expensive. Granted I have been able to find 9mm Speer gold dots for less than half what I pay for the 10mm Double Tap gold dots. Dude, can’t believe you ran full power carry ammo for this vid! Glock 29 Gen 3 (I live in Cali) with trijicon HD’s, 21lbs wolff recoil spring, loaded with 180 grain double tap gold dots and 200 gr hardcast... Favorite CCW hiking gun ever. I live in the mountains. First 29 I had, the slide would get stuck reward due to a mis-cut of the slide at the factory. Glock replaced the gun with a new one. 1000 rounds in no issues.

I picked up a G20 Gen 4 Dark earth and dropped in a threaded Double diamond barrel. I added Trijicon HD XR night sights, Tungsten guide rod and StreamLight TR1 HL. My holster option is a custom Kenai chest rig with a spare mag holder. I love this gun for the woods/trial in Wis. I tested Underwood ammo and decided to run the 140 gr Xtreme Penetrator at 1500 fps. The hunter ver is 150 gr at 1425 which shot the tightest groups for me and is my second option. I did shoot the 220 gr hard cast from BB and Underwood and found they didn't shoot the best groups for me. They do make a 200 gr hard cast which shot about the same. I plink with S&B and Sig 180 gr FMJ which both shoot very well out to 100 yards for me(do that to fix bad habits and check sights). I ordered a grab bag from Double tap to try out their hard cast 200 gr and a HP which i think is 155 gr. To date 10/1/2017 I have shot 1710 rounds through it and it is one of my favorite guns to shoot. I bought this gun in Aug of this year mainly due to your video and let me say this keep "keeping it real" in your reviews. My wife also favors this as our camp gun over the Ruger GP 100 match champion. For any ladies out there looking for 4 legged protection this is not a punishing gun to shoot even with the heavy loads. Sorry for long read but so excited about this gun! I have since posting this on your other video shot the Double tap ammo( glock 20 review). The 200 gr hard cast and the 155 HP I shot both are dead on for me. I now Store Double tap 200gr hardcast, 155gr Barnes TAC-XP and Underwood ammo I keep the extreme hunter and extreme penetrator rounds. I added a OWB holster from Gunfighters Inc along with my chest holster.

Kur Norock very true, I want mid range (40sw being low and maximum being maximum) for practice ammo and near maximum for defence hunting loads. I've already got a glock 35 in 40. now give me 10mm as its meant to be
@KurNorock6 жыл бұрын
I don't want mid range ammo at all. Why would I practice with some light recoil nonsense only to be surprised by the heavier recoil of a full power defensive load when it really counts? I reload my own practice loads and I make them as hot as I safely can. 180gr bullets traveling along at 1450ft/s out of a 4.6in barrel and just over 1500 out of a 6in barrel. with those as my inexpensive practice loads, shooting my full power doubletap carry load out of the 3.77in barrel of my G29 is child's play.

Keep the suppressor height front sight on the gun but switch out the rear suppressor height site to a standard height site. That alteration will cause you to nose the gun further down and thus compensate for how high the gun naturally shoots. If you find that the gun is then shooting too low, just file down the suppressor height front sight until the gun shoots point of aim. Throw some cold blue on the filed portion, or black nail polish, put on a fresh dot if it needs one. Problem solved. A gun that doesn't index correctly is a suchka if you really want night sights, because of the tritium bulbs. Since it would be wicked costly to get adjustable sights for that, you just use a standard rear with suppressor height front then modify the front till it prints point of aim. No problem.

Nutin, I hate to say it, but every day I carry a Glock 20. Let me explain my reasoning. I'm in California. It as you could imagine a pain in the ass to get a carry permit. When you do finally find a way to get that permit, you must choose, up to 3, specific firearms to have licensed with your permit. So reason 1, my Glock 20 has been on my carry permit for so many years that it's just not worth the hassle to change it out. Second, if I am ever in a situation where I'd actually need to use my gun, the state has seen to making sure I'm at a disadvantage. Limited to 10 rounds, while criminals aren't, plus criminals tend to run in packs, so I'd likely be out numbered and out gunned. 10mm levels the playing field a little. You carry a 10mm when in bear country, I carry 10mm because it has that stopping power. The local gorillas in my area are just as dangerous as your bear problems. Is the Glock 20 practical? Not at all. Uncomfortable? Absolutely.

Andrew Rowzee Absurdistan is lost. Begging tyrants isn't going to get us anywhere, and the state would love nothing more than an armed rebellion. They hold the Monopoly of violence, and you never attack your opponents strength. If nobody listens, then nobody rules. That is the message I share, and more and more people are listening. I've not complied with any of the new laws, in fact I've even removed my bullet buttons going back to the scary mag release on my ARs. Both local sheriff department and PD are aware that I have as well, I shoot with most at the local ranges. I will not ask permission, so I guess I might eventually have to ask for forgiveness. Though I don't feel like I owe anyone and apologie for breaking arbitrary edicts I've never agreed to in the first place.

Bought a Glock 20 as an all around woods gun and concealed carry. Mainly bought it to retire my S&W 19-2 so I could keep it locked up and in nice shape. I find myself carrying G20 IWB any time I have the right clothes on (loose fitting pants or shorts with belt and a baggy t shirt, button up, or jacket). I ALWAYS have an LCP 2 in my pocket, so when I'm carrying the glock it serves as my backup gun. When I don't carry the glock, I leave it in my car and just carry the LCP. I love knowing that I have 46 rounds of 10mm out of a full sized pistol either on my person or at least in the car. Then the LCP2 allows me to have a gun on me all the time no matter what.

I used to CCW a Glock 20 daily because I liked the idea of having maximum firepower on me at all times, but I got fed up with the size and weight after about 6 months and traded it in for a G29 and couldn't be happier. It's a little snappier than its big brother but still quite controllable, and is SO much more comfortable to carry (especially with a minimalist style holster like the Tulster Profile that I chose). While there is certainly no shortage great CCW options out there, the G29, in my opinion, offers a balance of power and concealability that no other pistol on the market can really compete with. It may not be for everyone, but unless you're recoil shy or just not comfortable with higher power cartridges, it's hard to argue with the stopping power of a 10mm when there's an option this easy to wear everyday that shoots this good...

Dan O doing that now but have heard of 9mm quality self defense load be inneffictive on hogs often enough to make me reconsider. I could carry a mag of specialty hog rounds instead of edc self defense loads. I would like a more capable gun for issues in the woods though.
@davidgiles97517 жыл бұрын
Totally agree! 10mm is awesome, but completely unnecessary for 99.99999% of self defense needs against a human. However, living in Colorado, I'd love nothing more than a 10mm on my side for that unfortunate encounter with a pissed off Bear or Cougar while hiking in the mountains.

I handload a 135gr. JHP at 800ft-lbs. this is from a 6 inch Wolf barrel. So with 15+1 this is 12,800 ft-lbs of holstered energy. Remarkably, the cases still fit a case gage perfectly after shooting! There is the commercial hot loaded ammo, as IS intended for the 10mm, such as Underwood. If you carry a 10mm, don't neuter it. enjoy your channel.

I’ve daily carried my Glock 29 for 2 years. I originally carried an lcp then moved to a xds then my xdsc 9 but currently carry the 29. 180lbs 5’10” and it’s perfect. NEED A GOOD BELT. I feel more comfortable knowing I’m covered. If you go to 10mm you need to reload though. The ammo you will carry is expensive! And you need to train with your carry ammo.

$27.99 for a 50 box of some jhp altho im in alaska. The 10mm is gonna surpass the 9mm in the future. People who are in love with the 45 are seeing the light and people who use 9mm are seeing ths power in them so if more people take the plunge the price goes down

G41 with Underwood Ammo 45 Super 185 gr XTP JHP 1,300 ft/sec muzzle velocity and 694 lbs. muzzle energy is my choice. That's 10mm ballistics out of a 45 with premium defense ammo at a cheaper price than most 10mm ammo out there.
That's standard 10mm Energy, Not Hot 10mm energy lol. 10 pushes close to 800 safely.

So .40 S&W is what your saying?
@Predalien1957 жыл бұрын
S&W made both revolvers and semi autos in 10mm. Both are rare, the semi autos dont hold up under heavy use of "hot" or 10mm or what many would call "proper" 10mm, slides start to crack under excessive use. But, a simple recoil spring and guide rod swap would fix a lot of those problems. The revolvers IF you can find one that is unmodified is SUPER expensive, but most people have at some point converted them to fire 10mm Magnum(yes that is a thing), and they still want an arm and leg for them.

Im waiting for the 10mm equivalent to the G43. It would be a 10mm single stack sub compact. :)
@Chriskelly190677 жыл бұрын
Anchor Bait why? If you only have 6 to 7 shots of 10mm you may as well carry a 357 or 44mag revolver...they're not hard to carry, you get more power, and some come in 8 shot models. There's no market for a single stack 10mm.
@anchorbait66627 жыл бұрын
RockHumper I'm not saying it would be a great daily carry, or that it would be pleasant to shoot. And yeah, I would rather have more then 6-7 rounds. But im lucky enough to live in the USA and I just think it would be fun to own and shoot. And that's what most of my guns are for. Great points though. I appreciate you're comments

Just get a G33. Most of the power of a 10mm in a double stack subcompact the size of a G26. The Underwood .357 SIG I’m running is a 125g Gold Dot @ 1500+ FPS our of my G32. That’s 600 lb/ft. of energy. Out of a compact automatic pistol that holds from 14-23 rounds depending on magazine.

Recently purchased a g29 for backpacking/stalk hunting on my Texas ranch. Way easier to carry than a g20 or 10mm 1911 but slight decrease in accuracy. Still capable of full power 10mm in a smaller package, no issues taking down large feral hogs so should be good to go for mountain lion or bear with the right load.

@fishrrelaxing93617 жыл бұрын
Ryan Vargas there is not much point to that. The width is because of the power of the 10mm not because of the double stacking. It’s one of the reasons there are only a handful of reliable and durable 10mm guns on the market. Most of them are modifications to a 40cal. All the ones that are purpose built for the 10mm like the g20 are all super wide. It’s also why the hold up and work.
