Good reaction. We can understand Willow wanting to use her magic powers to avenge Tara, but we can see it's also getting out of control. Even though Glory is a very entertaining Big Bad we tend to forget how utterly cruel and evil she is. You are in for brilliant closing episodes to S5 with a superb, stunning finale unmatched in the whole show. Regarding your reactions technique, it's your channel, and you can do as you please. The speed that you have got through the show is amazing. A lot of those reactors have been doing Buffy for well over a year and still haven't finished Season 2. I have also been frustrated at times with just how much you talk during an episode and I agree that the frequent pauses and long rants just break the flow of the story and the emotions that the writers are trying to build during a scene. You've also occasionally missed important bits because you were talking. I'm not trying to come down on you. I otherwise really enjoy your reactions. honestly, with shows like Buffy especially where everything pretty much the show does or the characters talk about are for good reason and VERY RARELY are just filler, if at all....I actually really appreciate it when you pause to comment. I've seen some reactors to Buffy that talk right over the show and they end up missing important information and end up being confused at the end of the episode because they missed something or they miss a good joke or talk over a fan-favorite part. its okay to pause. especially with Buffy. you can't please everyone.
@andrewshirley92402 жыл бұрын
Regarding the intro- You know what you see in the comments on every one of the reactors listed?? "OMG you guys talk too much, you missed something really important in the video because you wouldn't shut up!" Pausing is 100% fine, it gives you the breathing room to say everything you wanna say while still being really sharp, catching almost everything that happens. The reason those reactors probably don't pause is because their patreon set-up likely offers a "watch-along reaction" style, where you sync up hitting the play button and watch their reaction to the entire episode.
@Buffy8Fan2 жыл бұрын
In terms of pausing, I think it takes people out of the experience, but some reaction viewers feel the need to talk directly to their viewers before the video they are watching is over. I feel that is unnecessary, but if it something they feel the need to do, they shouldn't overdo it and should make pausing strategic rather than so often it doesn't feel to viewers like they are watching during edited videos. But if it is what they wish to do, they should do it. It's odd that Willow doesn't understand why Buffy isn't so stressed about Dawn. As she knows Buffy is Dawn's guardian and Dawn hasn't been going to school it seems pretty simple to at least put a general idea of 2 and 2 together even if she doesn't know exactly what Buffy is worrying about. Same goes for Tara. If Willow is unwilling to talk about Tara's fears that, whether unfounded or not, are valid fears considering Willow's recent past with boys and any potential issues Tara may have had with girlfriends who were experimenting or just used her or something along those lines, Willow should talk it out with Tara rather than get angry because without the conversation those valid fears will remain fears. I also understand Willow feeling the need to want to use magic, but Buffy is right in that when they have a chance is a better strategy. Willow jumping that gun out of the need for revenge combined with whichever Scooby thought it was a bright idea to stick Dawn and Tara in the same room (I tend to think it was Willow considering she had already not taken Buffy and Tara seriously enough about their issues so it would be in character for her to not consider putting the two of them in a room together and to talk a worried Buffy into thinking it wouldn't cause problems) is why the episode ends with Glory finding out Dawn is the key. Poor Tara. Facing Glory when she assumed it was Willow coming to fix things only to have to face Glory.

The pausing is a tad out of hand, especially for the body. The scene in the beginning was actually shot in still cam, all in one take because joss didn't want to take you out of the scene, but every 2 seconds you took yourself out. No it was confirmed by the creator Dawn had nothing to do with Joyce's death. Joss just wanted to show that life still happenes in this world
@blackkatt7772 жыл бұрын
And my argument to what Joss said on the special features is that the fake memories that the monks put into everyone's heads was the "Shadow" compressing on Joyce's nerve endings in her brain. It was just too much for her and as a result, she ended up getting surgery. But, in spite of the surgery going well, the mystic "shadow" of which the doctor can't remove because he wouldn't see it, was still there in her brain. As a result of its presence, she died. I also mentioned to Elie that she never had any head trauma or medical issues with her brain before Dawn. In fact, it was within the first week of having Dawn, that she collapsed in the kitchen with neurological problems. But...that's how I see it. I would defend that argument on the mountain tops.

From my point of view, you don't need to change your pausing style. If every reactor were the same, we would only need to watch one!!! One suggestion, though: Sometimes I "fear" that when pausing in a bad moment, you might miss something crucial (or very funny) because you might have paused in the middle of it. So if you do pause (which is fine), maybe it could make sense to skip back 2-3 seconds before resuming to make sure you don't miss anything? Just a suggestion, though...

A lot of reactors are dragging it out, cause they get a lot of clicks and attention for Buffy or the want to drag it out a few more months on their patreon. I also like your way of stopping the episode and reviewing your thoughts. Just do it naturally like you have for the past 4,5 seasons. In this episode I could feel you beeing eager to say something, holding in your thoughts/opionion to not stop at the "wrong" moment, but for me that disrupted the flow of the reaction way more than if you had just stopped it the moment you would have initially wanted to 🙂

Yeah, this a solid episode - nothing making it particularly standout, but no faults like some of those episodes have either. As to the Dawn causing Joyce's brain issues theory, I can see it but prefer it just being natural as it reinforces the cold "sometimes people just die, even with all the magic stuff going on" message. Think it's more likely that Giles' knowledge of interrogation techniques is something left over from his Ripper days rather than Watcher training.
