GLOYS Heat Pal Rescue

Thank you for stopping by and watching me. Tinker around with this vintage heat pal. Tent heater.
This tent heater and cooker is made by ORIGO , it's called the Gloys Heat PAL and I must say it is just that. It is a fantastic heater and cooker all the way around.
This vintage peter and cooker combo runs on denatured alcohol.
In today's video, you will see that the inner burner cap has rotted away. It is falling through and paper-thin. I am cycling a vintage metal fuel filter. That I had at one time converted into a funnel.
It is nearly the perfect diameter, so I'm going to cut it down and then cut the stem off. And recreate the burner cap with this metal fuel filter.
If you are ever rooting around and find metal fuel filters kick them aside because they make great funnels. And in this case, a perfect material for this up cycle.
You'll see that I'm easily making coffee on top of the heat pal. And you can see that you can flip the top and create an oven with it if you had a piece of foil on top of it or another Pan. Or something like that. You could easily bake in it.
Stay tuned because I plan to do just that.
The only negative is that when I went to go find. Dean natured alcohol last night. It was twenty five dollars a gallon.
I'm sure I can find it for cheaper but when I was on the internet last night it didn't look like by much.
Thank you for stopping by and having a cup of coffee with me out in the shop while I work on this heater.
Thank you for supporting the channel.

Great heater stove. Steve you did a great job on the burner cap and the clean up. I had to do a little job on the British No12 army stove. Worked out great now the lid will close. With the new custom upgraded SMS Industries rack Very happy.

There's not too many of us left our age that knows mechanical mechanisms and how they work. We can fix, duplicate, and fabricate just about anything. Been building homes, working on engines, and playing guitar since I was a kid. Luckily we didn't have cell phones to interrupt our creativity growing up.💪 But it's that stove that caught my eye. That's really nice.

Thank you so much , it's a little rough like most of my projects. But it's definitely going to last another lifetime. I mentioned that this metal was maybe stainless. I might have cut that out, but it's not. It's some some sort of good quality mild steel. I appreciate you. Thank you for the kindness and your comment. I hope your sunday's going well

If you don't want to buy the alcohol a gallon at a time, just buy a bottle or two of automotive HEET fuel line antifreeze. It's just methanol (methylated spirits). It's what all of us alcohol stove nerds run. They're cool stoves, too. Lots of ice fishermen use them in their shanties

Thank you for the kindness, Jr. Absolutely. The metal ones are getting far and few between. But if you're in the wrecking yard or in an old automotive dump site or stash, you can find them. Swoop them up. An old timer showed me this trick and i've made dozens of them and gave away as gifts.

Cool stove/heater, it looks vintage. Looks to be from the 1960s or 70s. As you stated with alcohol stove, the flames are hard to see. Do you have a flame snuffer, or do you just turn down the wick to extinuish the flame? If you use that for a heatet, get a pail with some sand. That way, it will act like a heat sink.😄👍🏻🇺🇲
@doinsngoins
@doinsngoins 14 күн бұрын
Oh wow, that's a really good idea. I should try that. That might make a great video. Yes, it does work if you turn the Wick down. It drops down into the tube and snuff. S it out automatically. I was concerned about that myself. How in the heck? We're going to put this thing out, but it works really well. It is such a really hot clean heat. I would recommend this over many of my stoves, particularly the bunton sports eater that runs on kerosene that thinks stanks.
