Thanks, Dr. Osborne! I've taken creatine on and off and didn't realize the benefit it was giving me. I would feel the energy from it but didn't connect it with other symptoms coming and going. So very interesting. May God reward you for offering what could turn out to be vital information for many suffering individuals.

Great timing! My doctor just recommended creatine. I didn’t know it was good for the gut lining in addition to muscle and energy production. You said there’s not really a test for it, but I could have sworn I had a lab test several years ago showing low creatine (not creatinine) because I looked up what it meant - and it said either low protein intake or chronic illness with wasting (!) and I asked my previous doc about it and he mentioned protein intake (I eat plenty of protein)…. Will try to find those labs UPDATE: I was wrong, I found the labs and it was creatinine that was low

In my 20s, I started taking arginine and ornithine. This was in the mid to late 1980s, so nothing but books available. I was working out 5-6 days a week, 1-2 hours a day. I noticed a big difference when taking arginine and never really knew why. I'm now 66 years old and starting back in the gym. Never too late (I hope) to start. Great to learn the science behind a supplement.

I just want to add to my earlier comment that details matter. I knew creatine was good for exercise, but I didn't have a clue how it really works. This deep dive provided me with a much better understanding and greater appreciation for something that seemed trivial. It depends on how you look at it, I guess, but I see a lot of value in information like this. That reminds me, I know so many people who just don't care about it. Almost everyone I know. Why don't they care, and why do I care, and what does this mean. Hmm, even more fascinating.

@@Nini-tj6se It's not necessary, in my opinion. The body makes is so it's not a huge deal. It wouldn't heart to get a full workup before starting it if you expect to supplement daily and have had or are concerned about kidney challenges. I would pursue a balance diet, drink lots of water, avoid high oxalate foods, but consume celery and arugula as those should be rich in nitrates and are the lowest in oxalate among the leafy vegetables. Some experts suggest adding lime juice to your water to reduce oxalate oxidation. I would also see about adding Calcifediol too.
