In this video I show what it looks like inside the LS7 Engine found mostly in the C6 Z06 Corvette, after the dreaded valve drop. Not much can be saved after this happens! The fix is more then likely a new engine, and they are not cheap!!!

This is why I got a c6 grand sport over the z06. Not worth getting a z06 unless you plan on racing it, over all the ls7 is not a reliable motor

was it a crate engine? if so how much was it after labor to install

Labor was all me. just over 12k for the crate LS7. I have a video coming for that

@@ALLMUSCLEUSA YES MY FRIEND, I have exactly same color combo in convertible, number 33/40. Very, very few left, and each year less and less. Such a unicorn vehicle. Most complete Roush, with custom seats and floor mats made for just 40 cars and every bell and whistle that was good from previous years put in one. Roush told me they had to advertise it lower HP than it actually had so it didn't hurt cobra sales and Ford would warranty it only if they did. Plus Ford paid for fake downplay news articles and tests that downplayed it's performance to not hurt cobra. After 440a Ford told Roush each year had to be less HP and performance stats that their Shelby or Ford wouldn't sell the Roush, even if the stats were lies. As we see now the modern ROUSH walking the cobras and hellcats, and doing 9's with a pulley swap and tune. Proud to know the other owner of the blue/gold combo convert 440a out there. Preserve that baby

@@dwg1235 Very nice! I have her parked at my brothers property. Mine is number 009. She needs a few things to get going again. Tires, a good cleaning and few other items would bring her up to speck. For now I just start her up and bring her up to temp every couple weeks. I just have way too many cars. Keeping up is tough. Are you local to me in California? We should compare notes. Thanks for the interesting bit of information.

the flaw is the length of chains on all over head cams not just chevy. using tefon rails was a mistake 4 short chains with sprockets in middle was the answer teflon blades are only good for 190 000 thousand miles with old lady from pasadena driving them throw in 8000 rpm and a supercharger and youve went stupid ls7 power is impressive but a throw away engine the chain jumps a tooth and pow valve meets piston dry sump stoker supercharger push rod engine still the reining champ. all hail the king

From what I understand the the valve guides were machined wrong from the factory. Keep in mind these are very tight tolerances. That combined with the sodium filled exhaust valves that have a sonic weld connecting the stem to the head of valve causes stress on the valve eventually causing the head of the valve to literally break off and fall into the cylinder. You can imagine the carnage after that. Some people tried to solve the problem by going to aftermarket stainless valves, some had success others didn't. Most just go with aftermarket head

Valve guides are not machined concentric with valve seat.
