These cars are rubbish. I live in Thailand and they sell here for 399K Baht which is like AUD 18.5K, they get 150km range....for 429K baht (AUD 20K) you can get a Neta V which is about the size in between this and a MG4, with 384km range(real world 300km). The Neta V is the real game changer...when it hit's Aussie it will blow away the rest. My neighbour is a sales rep and spends four days on the road, Mo Tu Th Fr, and 2 nights Mo Th which he sleeps in his Neta V air con on all night....get's paid a per km allowance and accom allowance, shower's at hi clients businesses and at gym's....reckons he will pay off his mortgage in less than 5 years mainly because of this car. Neta V. look out for it, best value EV in the world.

If this was sold that cheaply in the west then all that would happen is the roads would be completely clogged with the children of the middle classes driving around aimlessly. The towns and suburbs would have absolutely no space left for parking for the same reason. Personally I would be happy with this car as it would fulfil most of my needs and, as a motorcyclist, I am not that concerned with safety ratings.

I believe in the US we have a class of cars called NEV that are limited to 25 mph, useless. The next class are all the rest with an average sales price of more than $40,000. Do you think Elon Musk would allow regulations to change to establish a class of cars with a 45 mph speed limit, never. This car at less than $10,000 would sell like hotcakes here. Most would argue “unsafe”, though I think we would all agree safer than motorcycles.
