Simon's Speedrun is possibly the slowest in history, but always worth the wait. Thanks for the pipe smoking content Simon!

Simon's been my go to coach with online courses he's fantastic. Sometimes I talk to myself in the same calming voice he does when he's explaining his moves.... Then I hang a rook and log off for the day

at 12:18 I was looking at Nxh3+ with the idea of Bf2+ to follow after queen captures. Unfortunately it doesn't win the queen due to Kg2 getting out of check and defending queen on h3.

I like the ten min games better. Keep it up Simon! Love your rate climbing

Agreed, the 10 minute is definitely better. He’s very good at explaining but the 3 to 5 minute games get very hectic and limit the teaching time.

Very instructive game here Simon, especially with the knight swinging back around and making it to g5. 10 minute time control might be the sweet spot. Cheers!

Good game. I think I prefer the ten minute. You are great at explaining the position/your thinking and I feel like in the shorter time limits you run out of time a bit because of that.

Flawless game and great explanations. Good stuff, Simon!

fascintating listening to a GM break down these strong players w/o tactics. When I'm against a 1900 I'm thrashing my brain with tactical calculations
@johanneskarlsson6535 Жыл бұрын
This might be the one of the most instructive speed run videos I have seen, or at the very least among the most pleasing ones. It was really something to see how comfortable and in control you were on both sides of the board, and you got to that place not through blunders of the opponent but through strategic decisions and experience. Very cool!

Really helpful to have this to go alongside your Killer Dutch Chessable course, and see the ideas put into practice.

Very nice and instructive game. I like the 10 minutes format. I bought your course on the Dutch on Chessable, it's fantastic. I would love a companion course in the format of this video. Not necessarily complete games but lots of position from the late opening up to the late Middlegame, also some recurring tactical and strategic patterns. Your course already gives a lot, including some complete games but I am sure you could give us a lot more only looking at the games you played. I would pay good money for that.

Great stuff! I dig The Dutch. Still find it a hard opening to play, as my opponents rarely play into the main lines.

Impressive as usual. I would have sullied my pants in a lot of those positions, but GingerGM comments "Oh! My opponent made a mistake there." What ? I thought we were toast. He made a mistake ?! And... tadaaaa, a magical moves appears everytime. That feels like magic to me.

Much better content with this time limit. You provide much more teaching and aren’t finding yourself playing poor moves due to time trouble.

Hi Simon, I've loved your vids for 8-9 years. Fantastic stuff, i've learned so much. Bought much of your stuff. Don't worry playing too much while playing looking at the chat, lets face it, most of the chat is shite. It's good you've increased your time, it was frustrating to watch you lose on time, just because you was trying to explain to us mortals how to improve our chess.

I prefer this time control tbh, much more instructive than 5 minute which is only instructive for the first 2 minutes then gets rushed.
@Backupdancerr Жыл бұрын
I have a more positional style (as much as a 1600 can be positional) because I tend to rush in with attacks and just push the pawns. This was instructive video on how to build up an attack and not rush it! Thanks :)

I really like the 10 min format. You have more time to share you thoughts and there is no drop of quality at the end. If you rating is too high I would love to see you playing on a new series with using only the chessable openings of yours: Iron English with white, Black Lion against e4 and of course the Killer Dutch against all non e4 openings. There is a specific reason why I am asking this: I own these courses and they are my repertoire since over a year now but people at lower ratings tend to not enter the main lines unless they're cheating and I'd love to see you adapting to their moves.

Simon says at the end that you shouldn't worry about playing slightly questionable lines until you're 2200-2300. But he played the dutch forever, and he is/was over 2500. So i'm confused...

12:08 if Simon plays nxh3 here, he either wins the bishop or, if qxh3, he can play bf2+ with a discovered attack on the unprotected queen on h3. No?
@lwsCN500 Жыл бұрын
The king can move up to guard the queen during that discovery: when the bishop checks on f2, king guards queen by going g2.
