Fantastic upgrade to my iPhone email. Forward all your other accounts to Gmail then use it as your only iphone email acct. Keeping it simple with gmail. Impressive. Kieffer

I believe on the newer iPhones (I have the newest) the gmail icon is setup to use the imap feature already.

This works on my Sprint HTC Touch..........gotta love google, wish they woulda made the tutorial more broad for all to see that its not just the Iphone, but its easy to follow along nonetheless

I like how this also works with hosted domains that are redirected to Gmail. The conversion of labeled emails to IMAP folder subscriptions thing is a bit odd when it comes across but that is Ok.

Me too! I thought maybe you had to disable POP first and then IMAP would become an option, but no such luck. Now I've got =no= remote access.

Detailed video and I guess the same setting stand for those who do not use iPod. I use a Nokia E61i and I consider it much better than the ipod (in everything besides music quality).

this is so cool.. I've been using gmail pop3 with outlook express. Does that sync feature means that IMAP is a better technology and I should migrate to it? What will happen with my existing pop3 mailbox and emails?

You can set POP up to not delete your email in your gmail right? Not sure what the benefit is of using IMAP instead.

I just want to be able to use YIM, I haven't tried the web based proxy because I know it sucks through a browser on my computer and I would imagine it wouldnt be any better on an iphone.

If you have no IMAP option in gmail settings, just skip that part, it still works.

I am pretty sure it's a slow roll-out across the Gmail system, a lot of people have reported not having it yet - I'd say hang tight a day or two more, and if not there shoot Gmail a note.

If you move the email to the "[Gmail]/All Mail" folder, this is the equivalent of clicking the Archive button in Gmail. Unless, of course, the iPhone doesn't support folders.

set hotmail to forward to yer gmail account set yer gmail account to receive messages from hotmail. make your to from settings hotmail and you wont have to change anything\. It works great I did it a few weeks ago, goodbye hotmail. I still use it as my email address though

unfortunately, push only works with Mobile Me. Apple announced the Push API in June, but has yet to release it.

For those who didn't find the /IMAP on their screen, I had the same problem on my main Gmail account. Strangely the problem disappeared when I switch from English (UK) to English (US) as favourite language. Give it a try. HTH
