You guys rock. Not only is gmail great, but I'm having my domain hosted at Google! I used to have my own mail server, but keeping up with anti-spam activities and acting as my own System Administrator and being a husband and being a dad and having a day job and watching Heroes were too much... so my domain email languished. Until I moved it to Google! Now it's back as my primary email address. Thanks Google! -Mike

Why do our spam blockers work so well? One of the main reasons os community clicks. Although G-mail users say they rarely get spam when they do they tend to report it right away, like this. Not only is that spam message gone from my inbox but the report travels instantly through google's massive computer network to block the same spam message message from your inbox as well.

My most favourite feature of the Gmail spam service, is that it provides me with delicious recipes for SPAM, when I happen to look in my spam folder. I have made several of these recipes, and recommend them to others. Yum.

Here is my problem: For a long time, I basically did not receive any spam, except maybe one or two every two months. Luckily, they were all sent to the spam folder, and there were no more than one or two in in as many months, which didn't slow anything down, and that was the end of it.

Right, but person I replied too wanted to keep spam out of even their spam folder: the only way to do that is either delete it immediately (which would endanger important legitimate e-mails) or prevent it from being sent in the first place. They can't prevent other people from SENDING e-mail, they can only filter it once it's been received.

Looks good! I pretty much click "Select All" on my MSN email and then "Delete" just to get rid of email (I probably have over 100 again by now). Looks like I may not have to do that with Gmail. I'm hoping to study abroad, and if I have do cancel my internet service because of it I may consider my Gmail my permanent web based alternate email address for when I'm between "homes." I've had Gmail for months, but I'm just now learning to tap into other benefits thanks to a partner I had to do...

To my experience, the Google is not only pioneer and ahead of many in fighting out spam ,but in every product it launches. I have , therefore, Explained "google" as: Gorgeous- in performance. Open-open to all. Outright reachable- to every one for adding improvement. Liberal- very liberal to accept views and suggestions. Extra ordinary Service provider.

... a bear of an assignment in Script Analysis class for. He has Gmail too, and we worked on the document together each from our own homes till after 2am before he finally submitted the finished product on Web CT only minutes before 3am. I never knew we could do that! Once we move on from "Romeo and Juliet" to "A Soldier's Play" and have to switch partners again, I'm going to see if my next partner has Gmail so we can do this again!

Sometimes it depends on whether you sign up for alot of crap that you don't need, newsletters, email from buisnesses and so fourth. They want to make money so they simply start to spam you. Because they make money by selling your email address to spammers. So it might not be Gmail's fault.

Now here is another sitaution that just burns me up. "You know I have been waiting almost a week to hear how my job interview went" "Did you check your spam folder?" When real e-mail get mistaken for junk e-mail ("man there it is") it wastes alot of time, that's why we go above and beyond to make our spam filter smarter with things like multiple authentication systems and rigurous checks to verify senders that is up to 1:18 but I need to go to work.

I can not understand why I have experienced such an up-surge in spam, and I don't know how to stop it from reaching me, albeit my spam folder. It is a major inconvenience, and I need help, as it is slowing things down and wasting my time.

However, at one time, some spam hackers hacked into the account of someone I know, and they started bombarding me with messages. After a while, I figured out how to get rid of these messages by setting my filter so that the messages skipped the in-box and were deleted.

My old account stopped filtering spam, so I left it, and now from time to time when I log in, it says I have 2,000~ whatever unread messages. Rofl. No problems on my current accounts though. I love Gmail

Does google spam filter run on the Google mail server or in the Gmail client? I cannot find an answer to that question. A good explanation would describe how the filter works. If it works on the server it's conceivable one could use an email client other than Gmail to connect to google mail servers. and still enjoy the benefits of the Google spam prevention. Conversely if it works on the client it's conceivable one could connect to a non-Google mail server and have Google spam prevention. Based on the so-called explanations i have seen, I can't tell.

Um...didn't you just watch the video? Spam usually comes in blocks, like if you used Yahoo!mail and got a spam e-mail saying, "Your job offer has been approved!", chances are, millions of other people just got it too. But in Gmail, when you get spam and report it, every single other e-mail that was the same as that just got deleted, so everyone's inbox is saved for the cost of one person.

When I get a spam message in Gmail it's really exciting for me! It's kinda similar to "Oh! Spam. I forgot about that. hahahahah." Those spammers are quite funny; they can't even speak English half the time.

I would love to get in contact with one of them "spam engineers" since all newsletters from our webshop are blocked for gmail users. But it is impossible to get in contact with Gmail. My web hotel says Hotmail can have similar problems but them you can contact and get it fixed. And why does everything has to be for-dummies with Google/Gmail? It's nice as long as everything works as intended, but some times a bit of intelligence can be useful..

i like gmail but i dont know what they are talking about when they say they get rid of your spam. i have been reporting the same spam every day for 3months and i still have to report it today!!! they are not doing anything about the spam and im getting pretty frustrated with the whole process. :((( what say you google???

I'm sure all the people that get spammed are pissed off at spammers. But because the spammers are much less populous then the people getting spammed. Spammers anger< people spammed. According to that data is makes more sense to screw the spammers if yur objective is to lessen the anger in the world.

So, according to Google, time spent identifying spam would be better spent learning Esperanto; according to a lot of people I know, time spent learning Esperanto would be better spent doing just about anything else, possibly including identifying spam... But I don't agree. Esperanto = linguistic amazingness! [Translation just cuz] Do, laŭ Guglo, tempo elspezata por identigi spamon estus pli bone uzata por lerni Esperanton; laŭ multaj miaj konatoj, tempo elspezata por lerni Esperanton estus pli bone uzata por far preskaŭ io ajn alian, eble inklusive identigi spamon... You must have marked a similar email as spam and that is why its now entering your spam folder. I still have no problems and will not open that spam folder. I dont have the time to go through 1000 spam messages to find one stray email. If it happens so be it...it's not worth my time and I trust google.
