This week I completed the first week of GMB Fitness Elements Program. Elements is the foundation for the programs offered by GMB Fitness. In addition to providing a solid foundation, Elements teaches 3 locomotion patterns (Bear, Monkey, and Frogger) to improve mobility and motor control, improve flexibility, and to improve strength.
In the past, I have attempted to start Elements, but I was not good at following directions, or keeping consistent with my workout sessions. I decided to document my workouts to track my progress and point out areas of needed improvement. It also makes me be more mindful of the movements, stretches, etc.
What I have learned this week is that my flexibility needs a lot of improvement. Although I am able to hit a rock bottom squat from years of training with kettlebells, I am not at all comfortable maintaining that position for extended periods of time.
My goal, for this program, is to build a solid foundation before I move on to other programs offered by GMB, like Integral Strength, Vitamin, Focused Flexibility, and Floor 1&2. I fully expect the benefits to carry over to my martial arts training as I hope to teach myself martial arts tricking starting next spring/summer.
