Its 2024 general election time 3 weeks in and I still think Nigel Farrage should have been on the negeotiating team for the UK because the Tories just dont believe in it enough to carry it through.

Well. If your stern believe is a factor in negotiations, good luck. Normally it is more sensible to have a realistic strategy and an idea where your ZOPA (Zone of proposed agreement) is to be. Brexit was loaded with expectations and vague ideas: - stop immigration - get the UK financially better off by saving the money going to Brussels - getting better deals with the worlds leading nations etc. Just check what the UK got so far and make a list of the advantages of leab´ving the EU. Normally the only point is "soverignty". Which the UK now has back. But others have soverignty too. So? Again: I want to hear what is working better now than before existing the EU?

As a Canadian, I can objectively say: this is one of the most chaotic, people talking over each other, panel I have seen. Unfortunately, this seems to be similar to US panels as well. We appear to be at a ‘hinge point’ historically and uncertainty in what comes next seems to the political mood on both sides of the Atlantic. Alastair Campbell had the real zinger comment for Nigel Farage: put your ideas down on paper; what does Brexit mean? How does it work? Farage is like Trump, the ‘medium is the message’ (as McLuhan says). No detailed plans, I prefer to rail about what I don’t like, and I know you don’t like, and future plans are ‘it will just be better’, details to follow.

It is not brexit that harmed the UK it is the remainers that damaged the benifits of brexit. and No 10 should hang their head in shame regards Northern irelands british passport holders being turned into secondclass brits inside the UK having to use customs to bring goods into this part of the Uk from another part of the UK. All we all needed was brexit under WTO trade terms. every trader would know where they stand same rules for the EU sending goods into the UK as the UK sending good to the EU fair to both sides. So leave means leave would have worked. Im a trader and the EU rules in NI are destroying small business here in NI.

@@rfurdaylee Yes it dam well was, "We could be like Norway" that pays into the EU budget and retains full access to the Single Market while having no say on EU regulation and law that it simply accepts, who said that? Nigel Farage!! Brexit, as far as Farage sold it to the demos was always all the benfits of EU membership for zero costs and responcibility of EU membership, and with zero analysis of how that would be achieved!! Now, when it has failed against every metric it promised, Farage is hitting the immigration drum agan. The issue was always a far greater one than being in or out of the EU!! Get your facts right!

There are two meanings to the word Brexit. One is a concept and a theory of British complete independence from Europe and the European Union. The second is how we go about achieving this in practical terms. It is like if we are nationalising or privatising an industry. There is the concept or theory of an industry owned by the government or owned by shareholders and there is how you set about achieving this in practice which involves a lot of work and deliberation by ministers and the civil service. The problem with some Brexiteers is that with their "Brexit means Brexit means Brexit" they refuse to accept that there are these two meanings. They think in their primitive way the first encompasses everything.

@@georgep811 I thought Brexit meant Brexit, i.e. out of the EU. That position, regardless of Government, is clearly nonsensical and destructive. The only way to implement Brexit is to forget the meaning of the word and to try to get a good deal with the EU, even though we are now in a far worse position to achieve that that when we were in the EU with exceptionally favourable arrangements.
