When I first got into cylcing a little over a year ago, I got my first bike, and it was a roadbike. I loved it, but then had a few accidents, always in some traffic, road-construction, flats harder to fix, and you better not fall off the bike because you hit a pothole or braked too hard, you have to take the next trip to the bikeshop or go online to get new sets of expensive lycras. Drivers trying to run over you, some literally trying to kill you. You have to hold traffic many times, inhale fumes plus while busy riding those miles you rarely put you head up to enjoy the view, you have to plant your head in that aero position sweriving to avoid potholes in other to get KOMs and beat records. Basically all you see is the asphalt. Don't get me wrong, the speed is intoxicating and I believe cycling is still cycling regardless if it's a fixie, a bmw, recubent,dirt,hybrid,cruiser,unicycle, downhill,trail,enduro,XC or whatever the fuck you want to ride. I will say, the riskiest one is the roadie, the fact that I have to stick with diesel engines and can't do shit is a nuttjob decides to stop his car in front of me for no reason. MTB fullsuspension on the other hand is pure freedom, I might not be as fast as a roadie on the road but, I don't want to, I do a mixture of everything. I switch between semislick and trail tires depending on where I am riding. The fact that I can hop out of traffic to join pedestrians and later take someone's backyard and pop out of other side of the road is what I call fun and freedom mixed in one. And nature, lord have mercy! the green grass, the snow in winter, the mountains, lakes, streams, rivers, caves, bridges. I am sorry to say guys, MTB is addictive. It got to a stage, I have had my car for over 10years and not planing on buying a car anytime soon. Will I ride my roadie again, hell yeah, but, I know it's not a priority anymore. Ohh did I mention I ride in rain, snow and muddiest of the muds, downhill tracks? you can only dream of that on a roadie in a billion years, those ever changing landscape is another thing entirely.

Both cyclists have different kind of challenging adventure on there way to the finish line. I enjoyed watching from start to finish.

If this was filmed after Neil's off during the Andes Pacifico then he looks well on the road to recovery. Despite the result of this challenge, it's good to see him riding and riding hard. Welcome back, Neil!

Só when is GMBN going to get a XC mountain biker on their roster of riders? They got downhill/enduro/freestyle/dirt jumpers already!
@schmojo335 жыл бұрын
Well GCN has been implementing new channels so I wouldn't be surprised if one of the two started achannel focusing on cyclocross/gravel/bikepacking. The latter two categories have been exploding lately but GMBN and GCN have only lightly talked about the subject. Gravel wise most of the big events and long gravel rides are in the U.S. and other countries.
@edu23685 жыл бұрын
@@schmojo33 yeah, but GMBN as a channel cover mainly stuff related to gravity focused biking, and XC being a MTB discipline should have a presenter showing up!
@schmojo335 жыл бұрын
@@edu2368 I'm simply supporting your idea by saying I wouldn't be surprised if they move in that direction but lump it in with gravel and bikepacking. And if they did that it could end up on either channel or a separate one such as they did with Electric Mountain Bike Network which is a subchannel. Or another example is the Spanish GCN. Understand?
@edu23685 жыл бұрын
@@schmojo33 I do, but I still think XC should remain in GMBN, because if we follow that logic, it should be be GEN ( global enduro network)! Jokes aside, cross country is getting gnarly, and the new term "downcountry" should start gathering the attention from this channel!

Speeds are fun but bumpin' and going fast on offroads is just something else. Commin from a noob with a shitty bike but on daily basis i go trought offroad and high speed decents and they are both fun. But decent speed is a lot easier tho.
