The shoes won't crack if you just don't leave them on the radiotor or heater I leave them near by, and if summer or sunny I leave them in the window and move them to where there is most light sometimes I leave them outdoor. This works very well, I leave them over night and they are dry.

I just finished washing my Leatt knee/shin pads. Took some advice from the video. Now Leatt says you shouldn’t wash the pads, but I went ahead and did it with precaution. So I washed them in cold water on a gentle cycle. After that I set them on top of my dryer for air drying.

Follow the laundry instructions for sure Also, washing in a net laundry bag is good for pads etc, but also thin technical tops...

Except sometimes you can get away without following manufacturer directions. For example Leatt says not to place in a washing machine. I put mine in on cold for both cycles. Then I air dried them.

A little silicone sealant or caulking in the bolt heads on the cleat keeps them like new, just peel it out when you are ready to remove them.

When you wash your helmet pads you can put them inside a sock. They will be clean and easy to find when you go to put them back in.

When I was a scout I used some deet based bug spray and got some drops on my watch strap which quickly melted. Deet is absolutely necessary for Canadian mosquitos though so I’m careful what I spray it on.

Just toss all in the washing machine, whether it's a knee pad, gloves, helmet or full bikes. The washing machine will clean it all

Doddy the domestic god 🙌 the washing machine holds no fear for you 😃 top tips i got told with shoes, under your Insole place duck tape over the cleat plate stops water and crap getting in ..or use a herbal heat bag that you warm up in the microwave to dry the inside. Or use the hairdryer on a low setting to dry the shoes whilst watching TV 📺

Hi Doddy, what about cleaning my sixsixone full face helmet, as the padding is attached to the helmet as a liner and does not come out, do I just clean that with soap and warm water when I do the rest of the helmet like I have always done? Thank you.

Sixsixone sell replacement liners for their full face helmets, so yours should be removable. If replacement liners are available for your helmet, then it’s removable. (It may be held in by hard plastic snaps like Fox full face helmet pads which takes more effort to pop out.)

Try using some babywipes. I have found they dissolve a lot "biological residues" and have yet to find a material that is harmed by it. For the padding in your helmet, you may want to fold up the babywipes and press them against the pad material so the fluid soaks into it. You can then press some paper towels against the pads to remove the liquid and dissolved gunk. I have used this technique to clean the seatbelts in my car.

just make the use of shoetrees a habit and if your shoes are wet, take the inner soles out while the shoes dry. It isn't all that complicated. Never let sweaty gear (gloves, top, jacket ...) ferment in your car or a corner of the garage over night (or longer). Pull it inside out and hang it on a clothesline over night. It's not like a good wash, but it really does the trick and you'll get another ride out of it.

From D3O directly: "D3O protectors are wipe-clean only, using a damp cloth. NEVER use cleaners or detergents on or launder your D3O product. This may result in irreparable damage and will severely reduce the effectiveness of your D3O product. After washing, allow to dry in a ventilated space at room temperature; do not use hair dryers or other heaters to dry your D3O product." Which SUCKS for pads where you can't remove it. (FOX, I'm looking at YOU).

@mtbboy1993

You don't have to do it after every ride, especially if just a adhort ride but not a bad idea to do it if you get sweaty and pads get dirty, never leave them stinky. I always wash them when I think I should. Few min ride i don't. I don't always get to wash them as I need to wash other stuff too. But I wash it all as often as possible. This is one of the reasons why I have double of each pad, so I can use the other pair and wash the other when I can and when they are trying I can use another pair. Also be wise what you wash first and when, so you can manage it all so all you need is ready. I only have one machine.

I never use the chamois a second time, it always gets in the dirty bin, and gets washed. I also wash shorts jerseys, gloves. I have multiple pairs of it all. Even goggles. Which I wash by hand. I use milf shower soap, or handsoap it's really mild for the skin and works well to clean helmets and pads, goggles. Even works much better than Muc off Foam Fresh, which is usless.

I don't wash clothes after every ride, perhaps after 6-8+ hours of riding to prolong the materials life. It makes a difference in how long it lasts. I do make sure they dry quickly once they're off me though.
