I'm buying a 2018 Ford F-150 Platinum. It's way better than either of the trucks you just tested. I'm getting the 5.0 engine with the 10 speed transmission. It's faster by a truck length in a quarter mile than either of the trucks you tested. I need comfort for the back seat and I like the new infotainment with apple car play.

Both are beautiful trucks. If I drove a lot with the family or with other people I'd pick the Ford, but since I drive alone most of the time I think I'd go with the GMC. Also there are so many F-150s on the road that the GMC's looks are a bit more refreshing. But , again , both are very nice!

My grandfather worked for GM for 35 years, I have owned Siera, Silverado, S-10, and Sonoma, and many other GM products, I recently bought a '16 F-150 XLT 2.7TT V6 and it has been the best, most equipped truck I have owned and your video solidified my purchase. The passenger comforts were dead on and my MPG, I get 20 City and have done upwards of 28-29 at times, but lifetime of 7,800 miles is 20.4MPG . I cannot complain about that.

Guys i really enjoyed the video,both beautiful trucks, I recently bought a 2017 Chevy Silverado which is similar to the GMC and really loved the interior of my truck untill a week a ago i got into a horrible accident and it was considered a total loss , lost my beautiful truck not even 1000 miles on it, now it was not gas friendly it could not go a week with out having to fill up the tank. My dad recently bought a 2018 f150 and the interior feels a lot more roomier and it drives smother , also he says he gets really good gas mileage on it I'm thinking on going with a ford f150 this year, really like how the ford has the push to start, front and rear camera, the tailgate release button on the key fob, lights in the bed and the huge sunroof , I am a Chevy guy since my company has over 25 chevys but I got to give it to ford there is so much more on the trucks , but I will always love Chevrolet for saving mine and my daughters life

I owned 2 F150 4x4,s in the past 3 years. 2016 and 2018. Both were 5.0 V8 crew cabs... but I'm a GM guy so I had to go with a 2018 GMC Denali Ultimate 4x4 with the 6.2 V8 and I love it. Not bashing Ford owners but I believe I finally have a truck that suits my needs.

I traded my 2016 F150 for my 2017 Silverado. There are pros and cons with both trucks. F150 Pros: 1. Ecoboost is peppy, and makes the truck feel light around town 2. Real world fuel economy is very impressive 3. Twin turbos make trailering effortless 4. Center console is set more forward, thus more comfortable 5. Truck is taller from the factory. You naturally sit up higher 6. Styling is sporty and purposeful Cons 1. Lighter weight makes you feel rough roads more 2. In the shop for warranty repairs all the time (some major... like brakes failing) 3. Interior feels slightly cavernous (opinion) 4. Less standard equipment on mid-trim levels (comparing XLT to LT) Silverado Pros: 1. The truck feels heavier and smoother over rough roads and terrain 2. Standard LED headlights on LT models 3. Reliable as hell 4. V8 has balls. It just has balls (can that be a pro?) 5. Interior feels more compact, sporty, and in some ways ergonomic 6. Agressive, wide-stance styling (unfortunately, on a squatty platform) Cons 1. 5.3 isn't much for trailering. If you pull with your 5.3 and like it, fine; albeit, you should trailer with an ecoboost, and you'll see what everybody's talking about. We're talking 8k Lbs. 2. Even though the styling is aggressive and wide, it looks squatty and a little like Grandpa's truck straight from the factory (Mods are more of a must on the Silverado than the F150 3. Rattles, rattles, rattles rattles. They're everywhere. (I've fixed all of mine) 4. ... There aren't any more cons for this truck. Fuel economy isn't as good as the EB, but it isn't bad either. I put a 5" lift on mine with 33" Toyo MT's, and it still gets over 16 mpg's consistently. Not bloody bad for a lifted 4x4.

I didn't say "bigger". I said cavernous. Look, I like elbow and leg room as much as the next guy, but I prefer an interior that feels like it fits me; not one that feels like it's made for some 400 lb, mcdonalds binging, mandals wearing, fat guy. Also, the smaller interior gives me a few extra inches of bed length in the Silverado vs the F150, comparing short bed to short bed. Hell, It's just my opinion. The tighter interior of the Silverado feels sportier to me.

Nice comparison. I just got a 2015 GMC crew because my family outgrew my '01 extended cab. Hey I've always been a GM guy and the deal was right. That being said, I have noticed the same things you guys found, Ford has some pretty nice trucks as well, with some cool features and improvements that I wish GM would offer. But I absolutely love the car-like ride of our GMC. The fuel economy is pretty impressive when not towing. Add a camper and honestly it's not that much better than my '01. I know "old" trucks don't generate much interest, but i'd love to see a comparison of owner cost (maintenance, repairs, etc.) at 100K, 105K, and 200K miles. That would be the best test for those of us that keep trucks for 10 to 20 years.

I haven't driven a ford in years. But I do have a 2016 Denali and mine was in for painting due to a shopping cart. I had a SLT rental and noticed a huge difference in the ride compared to my Denali magnetic suspension control. Even a few of my F150 buddies noticed the roll difference in corners and over bumps

After 350,000 on my F150 FX4, I'll stick with tried and true FORD. drive train has never been taken apart and it plows, tows a 29' camper, carries heavy loads "UTV" and just so smooth and quiet. Did a few body touch ups and thats it!!! Regular maintenance and wear parts like 2 sets of brakes, 2 sets of coils and plugs!!!

I sold my 2015 F150 XLT with the 302A package, extended fuel tank, and panoramic sunroof. Took the truck on several long trips and it really is a good truck. I went with the V8 and it's nothing like putting the truck in sport mode to pass other vehicles. I'm thinking that I will get another truck next year, but it will be a 2018 XLT or a Tundra (V8 either way).

I've owned gm trucks for years and just recently bought a ford. I still think fords are good trucks but damn the build quality is not even close to gm. You can feel the body and chassis twisting and wobbling over bumps. And everything in the interior shakes when you hit a bump. Don't get me wrong i still like the truck and it has more features than any of the gm's have had, but it's crazy how cheap it feels. I guess that's the trade off. You want features get a ford, you want a truck that feels solid and high quality get a gm. And if you're retarded get a dodge.

Just bought a new, black 2017 Silverado, crew cab all-star edition Z71 LT short bed and I love it.. gorgeous, sharp truck .. was stickered at 48 and got it for 36 so I'm happy.. Ford wouldn't discount me anywhere NEAR as much, not even half as much, so I went with the Silverado. Used 2014's on the lot were almost 33 .. so why pay that when the brand new one was a couple grand more and brand new on sale :)

After many years of being a GM guy, I recently leased a 2017 Ford F150 4 X 4 crew cab with the 3.5 ecoboost and 10 speed. The rear comfort for my family, safety and sunroof won me over. I am actually getting 20.5 MPG with mixed driving which includes traffic. Interested to see what GM does with the redesign for 2019.

Just purchased my first GMC after 3 Ford F-150 in a row.. I really like GMC i think it an amazing truck with a very comfortable ride, extremely quiet cab and great looks, but I do miss the keyless entry on the ignition, and my son hates riding in the back since the GMC is a lot smaller. (leg room) So 3 years from today I may be going back to Ford unless GMC makes a few adjustments.

I sell GMC and really enjoy the Sierra. The interior quality overall is better in my opinion but Ford has a great panoramic roof, legroom and backseat comfort. The Sierra is an ode to all around muscle. Enjoyed the video

I am jealous of some of the convenience features of the f150, such as the keyless entry and ignition, adaptive cruise, and rear heated seats and vents and automatic wipers, some of which is available aftermarket. i like the infotainment in the GM's more than the fords, and some of the onstar remote features and hotspot options are pretty convenient. I do think the Denali's need to differentiate themselves more than the high country or LTZ's, the feature set is pretty well the same not worth the price gap. keyless options, adaptive cruise, rear vents/heated seats and blindspot/360 camera's would make the denali name worth it's badging in my opinion.

I think the video was just right. Simple and honest. I personally am a big Ford fan. I own a 2014 F150 and am 100% happy with it. I don't get where anybody can say the quality is bad on the Ford. I never have anything rattling or squeaking on this truck. It has been flawless from day one. I have owned a couple of chevys years ago and vowed I will never own one again.

I bought the F150, STX Crew with 2.7 and 4WD, mainly because of price, after discounts around 33, but if the GM's would been in that price range might have gotten one. What I found was the base GM's really look base, shout I'm poor and cheap while the Ford's STX package looks really good for a lower level pickup. So far Love the truck, blown away by the little 2.7 Ecoboost, but pretty sure I'd been just as happy with the GM or RAM, every one is building great full size rigs!

I own a RAM 1500 Lariat. Picking between these 2 trucks in this video. I'd take the Ford. As you stated and just like mine these upper models are luxury trucks. Small bed, not hauling so much, the amenities are about entertaining you and the passengers. Maybe you get some mulch bags, maybe a dirt bike or a jet ski trailering or some wood, that's probably about it for hauling. My RAM has a V8, almost 400 hp, real truck sound too. A wifi spot, sunroof, vents for ac and heat, also heated rear seats for those passengers. Front has vented and heated seats. awesome ground clearance, storage in back under rear seat and in floor. 2 glove compartments and a lot more, ...I'll stick with my RAM lol! RAM's do not have LED headlight which really disappointing. For this vid and this was a good one, I would take the Ford every time.

Great job guys!! I'm a Ford truck guy pretty much but it was great to see what the 1500 had to offer. Still a Ford truck man after seeing the clip especially knowing that the Ford had two higher levels to go. My only critique would be that I would have liked to see what the Ford fully decked out would produce in the tests. I think it would be a no brainer at that point. Just a side note but most people talk about the back seat room *a lot* but don't realize or mention that the bed length is different the Silverado has a bigger bed 5'8" vs the fords physical size 5'6". Only reason I know that it makes a difference is if your loading a MX dirtbikes with a intermediate tread rear tire it barely fits (or in the case when it was new i had to let air out of the tire) in a Ford and even after it has to be perfectly angled. Yet in the Chevy I had it fit easily with room for angling error. So anyway that's where they are getting the extra room in the back seat. But if your not sitting in the back seat or loading your bed full you probably won't notice either one or care.

Chevy messes around on giving you a 8speed (only available Ltz & high country) & alot of features for your money. ( basically Weird equipment packages) plus the top of the like is the *Ultimate Denali with the 6.2L* technically. The Ford give you the power trains at a nice price range but none get there mpg numbers worth a crap (even though mostly V6s) but they over charge so much for the features. I'm mad at both honestly ,sitting in a *Ram with my 395hp Hemi with the 8speed* with full tool boxes under the seat until Ford & GM hopefully quit fooling around

Come from Ford loyal family. Own first GMC Sierra 2018 SLT 5.3 The GMC has no delay in acceleration. Need sport mode on 5.0 Ford or the ecoboost engine to get the same feel. I don't like the middle floor hump on GMC backseat. The GMC mpg average is off by 2 miles and ford is almost right on. I am curious to see how long it will last and the maintenance cost.

Certainly a fair comment. unfortunately we are just two dudes reviewing cars in our spare time and no one has delivered on a Toyota or a Dodge yet... but we would LOVE to test them out if one becomes available.. hinthintnudgenudge to the dealers out there. Yes the Ford has more equipment and bells and whistle options in which I do like better and wish I had them on my 2018 Chevrolet Silverado, but every single Ford owner I know has had problems with them. My uncles F350 Platinum caught fire and burned up after 4 days at the Ford dealership and my neighbors F150 has all the lights flash and going crazy in it and the dealership can't figure out what's wrong with it. That's why I went with the Chevrolet because I wanted something that would actually last with a lot less problems if any. Ford is only a good option if you plan on trading it in after 2 years to get a new one. Also there is an option for storage underneath the back seats since I bought it and has a lot more storage than the Ford. Ford did a good job with the interior, but I'll spend more time driving mine Silverado since it wint be in the shop as much or at all.

Both trucks are great, however I'd go for the F150 for a couple of reasons: 1) Better equipped and feels more modern in terms of features. 2) AC vents in the back are a must for me. 3) Twin Panel moonroof is amazing. 4) F150 gives you a better seating position and a commanding view of the road. 5) SYNC3 is imo better than GMC MyLink.

I still love my 2017 GMC Sierra 1500 Z71 5.3L 6 speed. 6.5' box large enough for a slider 5th wheel hitch. Tow capacity large enough to pull a lighter 30' or less 5th wheel toy hauler camper with a slide out or two. MUST add the rear air bag set to help level the truck for better trailering , handling and braking balance. Mine is a double cab. A full sized adult would be cramped in the rear seat unless on the passenger side and that seat is moved up then not bad. Gas mileage is comparable when commuting with an average of 18 to 20 MPG at freeway speeds. Put on a tonneau cover to streamline it a bit in the back. I love the engine braking feature when towing and in tow haul mode with the cruise control on. It deactivates 4 cylinders on the downgrades or mountain passes , never had to touch the brakes in the rocky mountains going down. Very nice. Fuel tank capacity was lacking however. When towing at or near capacity it gets an average of 10 MPG just like my 2008 GMC sierra 1500 5.3L 4x4 4 speed. The old truck was a reg cab and had the 35 gallon tank.Nice for towing vs. the 25-27 gallon tank on the newer truck. I have to stop about every 200 miles or 3 hours to refill with the smaller tank. The ride is nice also as are the creature comforts on my SLE package. I still like mine far better than the comparable model F150. It all comes down to your personal needs and specifications that you want as well as price range. I did NOT go with the Denalli for many reasons. First one was price point , second was box size. I tow a big 5th wheel , the Denalli cannot. Travel trailer only for that one.

Great video. Enjoyed it. Few points. 1) "gentlemen's truck"... considering the beds weren't compared, I guess it's not that important. Definitely not our father's work trucks. Hahaha. 2) It would have been nice to have actual costs of each trucks. That way we can make a true comparison as to what our money can get with each brand. 3) Since actual owners were used, it would have been nice for them to share the true cost of ownership and also reliability comparisons.

Fair comments! 1. I would say that the 5.5ft beds are good for manuvering but are about 1/2 foot short of a lot of things I want to throw in there. 2. Both trucks were in the neighborhood of $50K , the Denali was about $2k more than the Ford. 3. Both trucks were comparitively new when shooting this video. Neither truck has had receive anything other than regular service so far. I just hit 30k miles on the Denali so I will be following up with a 1 year long term review soon. Thanks for the comments!

I own a 2016 f150 5.0. I have to say I really like the interior some parts are cheap and don't fit right, but I like the ride and feel, I test drove a lower trim 2.7 and the engine was good had plenty of power and decent fuel. I have been in and drove a 2016 GM truck and for it having leather and nice stuff LTZ, it seemed tight in the back seat. It wasn't near as comfy as my fords back seat is. I also like the 5.0 noise more then the 5.3 the 5.0 seemed quicker to Me too. I looked at a similar dodge 1500 but it's price was high and it didn't have as much stuff. I would get another ford, with the 2.7 and leather seats.

I personally am partial to ford mostly because of gm and Chrysler bailout in 09 but besides that I feel that truck wise the f150 has more options and creature comforts than ram and gm trucks and if you can't stand a v6 in your pickup well ford offers a very reliable great sounding 5.0 Liter v8 as well and as far as looks go, it depends who you ask but I think they hit it on the money with their descriptions. I love the angular looks of the f150 and I've been very happy with the looks of the f150 since they changed it from the ugly over rounded looking early 2000s pickups. So just my opinion good comparison btw it's good to see real human input and not just some specs and prices thrown at our faces from overly biased reviewers.

And yes I have owned 2 chevy trucks in the past and in my experience the fords and chevys last about as long as each other but to me I have always preferred the overal feel of fords better and I never minded chevy vehicles until the bailout and for some reason it seems to bug me more than most other people. I guess my point though is that don't worry about maybe buying a ram and being worried it will break down earlier than a chevy because it's all in how you drive it so just take the time to leave bias aside and genuinely look at all brands and deals before buying if you want to make a good decision instead of letting your inner fan boy get to you

Good video, as a bigger guy I’ve always preferred Ford. Much roomier, bigger and more comfortable seats too. Decent comparison for pavrment princesses. I guess it was meant for people who use their trucks only to go to the grocery store and golf course. Back when this video was made there was no comparison really imo. The F-150 hands down all day long. The GMC looks so outdated inside and out. Now being 2022 and GMC finally coming out with refresh models there is something to compare. Anything pre 2022 refresh is horrible looking and only Brand loyal customers would buy. I'm not brand loyal by no means and this new 2022 GMC has got my attention. Finally GMC has a new line up and deserves to compared with others.

Great review, little disappointed with the ecoboost's fuel economy, my 2.7 does better than 21, but I really think that this review shows how tight the full size pickup race really is. GM is old schooling it, ain't a thing wrong with that, Ford is trying new things, might or might not be the way to go.

The GMC looks better inside and out, but the Ford has more features. GM needs vents in the backseat, if u r dropping 40-60k on a vehicle, it should have rear air vents. The GMC has better looks, interior and engine, but Ford has more features and amenities. It's also worth mentioning that the GMC only had the 5.3 and not the 6.2 V8.

Owned a 2016 GMC Sierra 1500 Slt with the 5.3 traded it for a 3.5 ecoboost 2016 Lariat and haven't missed the GMC one bit. Sport mode makes the F150 run circles around the Slt. I will give the Bose sound system in the GMC a nod though way better than the Ford's Sony system

Gmc is def a better looking truck out of the 2 stock for stock, especially for 2018. Haven't been in a new f150. I always hear good things about interior, and poor things about gas mileage for a truck let alone one called an ecoboost. My 13 ram has had zero issues, great power, no rattles, everything has held up interior/ exterior, has 3.55 gears with 6 speed auto and see 24 mpg regularly highway, plenty of room tho I have no kids, don't live in my truck so plenty of amenities for me. The long gears in the 6 speed is the only thing I can say I dont enjoy which has been fixed in the newer trucks. Tie for best looks on the new trucks between gmc(not chevy) and ram for me.

Thanks for commenting. We work with the trucks we have, however, as owners, we do have the actual purchase prices and these trucks were about the same price. Yes, the Denali was just a couple steps below the top of the line Denali Ultimate Duramax and the Ford was a couple levels less than the King Ranch. If you walk into the dealership and you have $50k to spend... these are the trucks you are looking at. Neither of these trucks are the “top of the line”

The only downside of this ford f150 lariat is the engine. I have the v8 5.0 coyote in my truck and the whole feel of the truck changes a bit. Making it that much better. Its an extra $ for some trim levels but well worth it if you are rooting for ford.

People can say what they want to about Ford and its technology but a lot of the vehicles are coming out with the same technology only making it better. The new Ram is the best example of this. For me I could never purchase those vehicles no offense. Because Ford was the only company that did not take the bail out money back in 2008-2010. Instead they chose to cut production cost. So of course on that Chevy commercial they would take advantage of the cheaper parts that were used in the bed of the F-150. All of the ones that have not been bought out by Fiat should probably have some of that bail out money left over and they can afford to make all of these extra upgrades. You have to have faith in your company and your product. That means a lot to me and I am sticking with Ford for life. The other vehicles are nice and all but they are not a Ford.

It's surprising how to see how Ford rather than GM pays extra attention to detail. Clearly Ford is putting a lot of money into body, frame and engine development. GM hasn't updated the engine, frame or body in years do they put money back into their trucks at all? Either the Ford or the GMC can be ordered with either the front bench seat or the console. I prefer the front bench, of course there is typically an attractive woman in the passenger seat when I drive... To really appreciate a twin-turbo vs. an NA engine, get them on a highway with steep upgrades and put them in cruise and you'll notice the twin turbo doesn't really labor while the NA engine does. That said I think the GM 5.3L is a fantastic "real world" engine and if you live at lower altitudes and aren't carrying heavy loads the 5.3L is a great engine. However I'd also say - the 2.7L Ford would have been a better comparison to the 5.3L. To notice the advantage the lighter body take them off road, you'll notice the Ford doesn't move you laterally as much.
