Jeff, my first vehicle was a '65 Chevy C10 hand me down from my dad. 3 on the tree and no air conditioning. I've owned a '94 S10, an '04 Silverado, an '09 Silverado and currently a '21 Trail Boss. I guess you could call me a Chevy guy, but I sure like that GMC. Oh, and I wish I still owned the '65 stepside!

I have the 2020 Trail Boss with the 6.2 engine. It is a great truck. Mine has the 6 1/2 foot bed which makes the truck more usable. I had to add a passenger seat kit to raise it. My wife said it was like sitting in a hole. Chevy needs to add an electric adjusting seat for the front passenger seat. The kit was only a little over 100 bucks and took about 25 minutes to install.

Do either or both of them have the option to have a sliding rear window? I will be getting a new 4x4 truck with crew cab and a standard bed and am thinking of one of these. I am very likely to get a truck cap for the back of my truck so that I could sleep in it and it might be useful to be able to pass stuff between the truck cab and the truck cap.

I’m pretty sure the rear sliding window is tied to the leather package. The AT4s will always have it since leather is standard. The trailboss most of the time don’t have it because they usually come in cloth from what I’ve noticed. Pretty sure you will never see one with cloth interior and a rear sliding window. I’m not a fan of this situation.

@@davidsaltel1856 sorry David, the TrailBoss in this picture is Satin Steel, yes. And wether you get a 2022 Limited or refreshed, the TrailBoss LT will only come with the bowtie, and the custom will only come with Chevrolet written across it.

They’ve started deleting it at the factory due to chip shortages. I don’t think it’s been “officially” removed as a feature though.

It's weird to me that they would discontinue the 5.3l in the upcoming 2022 refresh. Especially with fuel costs these days. Does the 6.2L have DFM technology like the 5.3L? I also read the 3L diesel was discounted in price last year. Will that price of the engine remain about the same?

They’re not discounting it. The 2.7 is standard on the trail boss but the 5.3, 6.2 and 3.0are options to get in the trail boss.

You forgot to mention about the tailgate getting dinged when center section is down and trailer hitch is installed. I had to spend $156.00 for a sensor that plugs into the wiring inside of the tailgate that stops the center section from opening when hitch is installed but will open when hitch is removed. The 6.6 duramax is one stump pulling motor scooter though . 🤟

I think these trucks are 2021 but carried over to "2022". I think GM says these are 2022 so it doesn't seem like you are getting last years model. Most people will not know about the refresh. I think because of the chip shortage, these trucks sat at the plant. So it is a marketing thing saying these are 2022 even though they are really 2021 models.

The lack of body side moldings on this Gen looks horrible. Big flat empty space on the doors. 2022 Refresh (at least on the High Country) get the body side moldings again thank the Lord.

Good idea having a dedicated spot to plug the vehicle in, however all the vehicles today are coming with this. The problem is that I am almost 75 yrs young, but when you have bad knees and or hips you have to craw down to the ground to plug it in and the connector that only goes in one way. At nite you cannot see how to do this, you need a flash light on your forehead and that is ridiculous. I had to lay down in the snow and find a channel to come and feed the cord out under the hood anyway. Now I can use it. Tell those wonderful engineers to design a higher spot for the cord. Sometimes you get your good cloths dirty crawling around trying to find that plug. I love my truck but hate the plugin. Mel PS sorry Jeff you touched a very sore spot.

I would've bought a Trail Boss if the 21 would've be available with the 3.0 DMAX, I went with a Sierra Elevation and I like the truck but I really like the look of the Trail Boss with the factory 2 inch lift.

I am looking at both. I like the GMC better, but Chevy has WAAAAYYYY better financing options. for a longer term loan, Chevy is at like 1.9% where as GMC is at 4.3%. that's a huge difference over 6 years. I do have one question. Can you list the advantages/disadvantages of the 6.2L V8 vs the Diesel option?

So basically the 2022s reviewed are 21s that didn’t have chips and rebranded as 22s. Really? I could buy and drive a 22 and then someone else a ‘22 Refresh’ and they are different. Think I will stick to my black 2020 Silverado RST which I love more than any vehicle I have ever owned and I have owned a lot in my 70 years mostly Fords and Chrysler products. In the comparison I like the GMC better.

Gm is playing games with these trucks. Its base or top of the line for orders. Middle of the row trim levels are not being accepted for order on the at4. My truck is sitting in order status for well over 3 months now. Gm cant give me any explinations. Getting very frustrated.
