Hey Igor, I generally love your videos and learn a lot from it, but today I couldn't agree with you. What do you mean 'Fried Liver Attack' is the best name for a chess opening? the "Hyper Accelerated Dragon" is the best name for any chess opening. We can ignore the Lolli attack, or Hillbilly attack

Finding out why the attack is called “Fried Liver” is more confusing than dealing with it as a beginner
@usibistro10 ай бұрын
Maybe the first grandmaster to come up with this attack was an alcoholic
@joseluisdiazprieto436910 ай бұрын
@@usibistroIn Firenze, they use a net to envelop and fry the little pieces of porc (fegatelli). The piece of meat being fried on the net is a good simil of black king under then fegatello atack. Fried liver is not a good translation of the original name Fegatello, that simply means “ little lever”.
@Kadaitchi10 ай бұрын
We call it "Fried Liver" because it's a really fast way to "cook" your opponent. As we know liver cooks in no time at all. Also back 100's of years ago it was damn near free so it was a very cheap popular source of protein that likely everybody ate at some point.

This attack depends on Black making major blunders. Instead of moving knight to F6, Black simply moves pawn to D6. Then he can move the bishop out to E6 and stop the whole attack dead in its tracks. Plus, if the black knight not located on F6, then White can't move his knight to G5 until he has moved his Queen pawn forward to open up his bishop to protect G5. But if White does that, then Black can simply move his pawn to H6 to defend against it. But Igor didn't even mention any of this.
@owoyemirichardadedamola281210 ай бұрын
Hmm.
@EternalSilverDragon10 ай бұрын
Igor didn't mention any of that because this video was about the fried liver attack, which requires this line to be played: 1. e4 e5 2. Nf3 Nc6 3. Bc4 Nf6 4. Ng5 d5 5. exd5 Nxd5 6. Nxf7. Black's move 3... Nf6 is not a blunder. It's a perfectly fine move, the only mistake in the leadup to the fried liver attack was immediately recapturing with 5... Nxd5. The line you're talking about playing instead is the Paris defence (1. e4 e5 2. Nf3 Nc6 3. Bc4 d6), which is just a different way of defending against the Italian game opening. Maybe Igor will cover this in another video. It leads into another well-known opening trap.
@tobias441110 ай бұрын
Are you aware of the fact that blacks most common responses to Lc4 is either Bc5 or Nf6. They are both textbook moves and totally fine. Best way to stop Fried liver is the Poleiro defence, that is played in GM level.
@ericsmith836910 ай бұрын
Best to play the c6 knight to attack the bishop as black after d5

:37 that's where the attack fails. Opponent doesn't play knight, you can't play your knight because the queen will take.

I never knew how deadly the fried liver could be with all those lines where black loses, the fried liver is the heart of attacking chess

Bro what since when did I comment on this video?? Must’ve forgot I’ve gotten way better it’s unusable at my level (as in winning easily) but thanks for reminding me of this comment didn’t think I’d ever call the fried liver the heart of attacking especially on a yt comment section lol

in blitz this stops working around 600 650-700 and u start to see ppl playing traxler counter with bis 800 plus u see the knight attack counter witch is losing for white instantly if they don't play those usly see fried liver declined.

I must say that NONE of your openings work against Fritz! It's beginner mode seems like midrange to me. I literally tried several of your openings and they all get countered. That one where you give up two pawns in a row for the 2 bishops? you can't win the queen. Fritz comes back with a check via the bishop and only way is to bring your queen back to block and.... you lose your queen too. I believe there is no "use this opening all the time" idea to win more games. I think it depends upon what plans your opponent has and if they know that opening. But it's fun to dream that some of these openings would actually work. :)
@hunterdillman36783 ай бұрын
If there was an opening that just automatically beat black then it wouldn’t be a fair game. You gotta remember the only difference between white and black is that white goes first that’s the only difference. That’s not enough of an advantage to just force a win on black you have to play
@TruthSurge3 ай бұрын
@@hunterdillman3678 Of course you have to play great moves against a decent player in order to win but this Fritz thing I've been playing against is brutal. Or else I absolutely suck at chess. I am still playing it on AMATEUR mode and I cannot win consistently. I think it's because I don't know all the opening "theory" so that I can position my self in the mid game for not getting murdered by one wrong move. I am older and I don't play with patience, either. I also don't know all these tricks and theories and x-rays and pins.... chess takes a strong MEMORY and I don't have the love for it enough to spend a few years learning it, I guess. Still, all these vids claiming these great openings and tricks... I know that's bs. The only trick is to be good at chess.
