Glorious seems to be taking the OnePlus route albeit for different external factors. The end result is the same though, a scrappy upstart providing insane value but then living long enough to see itself become the villain.

Glorious looks even worse than Oneplus right now, since new Oneplus phones are still good and competitive just not as affordable as their OG phones were. Glorious seems to sell mediocre products at weird prices and as BST said, they "get" you in the customisation. If I wanted to customise my model D as I wanted, I'd have to spend as much $$ as the mouse itself was (Incl. shipping)

I've had some personal issues with Glorious as well. I hold a Marketing Degree and decided back in January that I would apply for a Copywriter/SEO job with them. During my first interview, they told me that I was overqualified for that role and they wanted to instead consider me for a Marketing Coordinator role. They then ghosted me for over 3 months and then finally responded asking if I was still interested in a Marketing role with Glorious. I told them "yes" and they literally said, "False alarm, we aren't hiring for marketing or social media roles anymore." I can't tell if it's a complete disaster in their HR department, or just an incredibly unorganized company.

If you kitted out the gmmk pro before, it got pricey fast, as well. Now, how they think they can compete with keychrons offers in the budget market (v1,q series, q0), I don't know. Anyone going for more premium options has access to much better offers from other vendors. I have a kbd75 that's the price (combined) of the fully built gmmk pro, that I would venture is much better.

@@barbuganot That's what I have. The first version had a few kinks but the second one is a very great entry board with some pretty darn good customization and isn't mega-expensive. It's the entry keyboard I recommend now pretty much. Way better than any drop makes and though you can honestly debate between it and the GMMK, I think it's a better deal than GMMK. Once you get some switches of choice (I'd suggest a sampler set) and some nice keycaps, you got yourself a very sexy board. The Q1 is also a real gasket mount that you can feel unlike the GMMK, which imo makes for a far better typing experience, and it's as heavy as a tank lol.

Thank you for being so transparent on this video. It’s so hard to think of this I also had a great thought of glorious that just sort of faded naturally over time then forced negative with all the group buy red flags until they turned into finalmouse in my brain. It can’t be shook when the choices are that way. The only glorious thing I still have in my daily setup is the xxl mouse pad / desk mat which is again arguably too damn expensive still but an excellent product. What can you really do though in todays world inflation is a bitch and the companies are all doing sketchy shit like this now. I’d have gladly looked into this numpad at $60-80 but fuck if I’ll even look at specs at that price.

I kinda hope more "just a numpad" boards come out, because goddamn, I really fucking hate it when a keyboard doesn't have a numpad. Certain professions, like a network tech that I am, really benefit from them, including anyone that needs to input RSA keys, but so many laptops and fancy boards don't have them. Also, fuck anyone who doesn't make a numpad keycap set, because how fucking hard is it to make 15 caps, 10 of which are already pre-existing on the base layout.

I own one of these and love it but it’s a niche use case. I am a forensic accountant and got it for work since our laptops don’t have 10keys. For my use case the Bluetooth and the overbuiltness of it are worth the cost. Sure, I could have gotten a keyboard but this fits in my briefcase much more easily. My wife uses it occasionally as well for the same sort of thing. As I said, edge case, but one that makes me grateful it was made. Also, charging it to the company as a business expense makes the cost easier to handle. Though, I got it before they approved the expense so that would not have been a deal killer for me.

I was actually pretty interested in this product to pair in southpaw orientation with a 65% or 75% layout keyboard, especially since it'd give me access to an additional knob and slider, but after I saw the price I decided to pass on the first preorder batch and do some research first, and I'm glad I did. I might even still be interested in this product regardless of numpad functionality, reprogramming the keys entirely and just using it like a macro pad essentially, if only Glorious handled the execution better. 😒

I still have my old full size GMMK and it keeps chugging along with no issues. I've thought about buying other stuff from Glorious but whenever I looked at their site their prices seemed to be all over the place. Once I saw they rebranded from Glorious PC Gaming Race I sorta understood what was happening. They wanted to pivot from a small company with a dedicated fanbase into trying to compete with bigger companies at bigger price points. That wouldn't be a huge issue if it didn't come at the expense of everything else, but it seems like they've effectively abandoned entry level customers.

if you are looking for a numpad for macros or for just a numpad, I would recomend the Idabo one. It's a bit pricey and you'll need to get some switches too. But it is solid and I use it every day for work. I use the extra keys for macros, space, tab, backspace, delete, and esc. my only issue, getting keycaps for it, you pretty much have to canabalize a completely separate keycap set, but the extra keys are super handy

Nah, this checks all the boxes for me. A zero-compromise product. I'll use it with my PC for macros for like 10 separate pieces of software, and take it on the go with my laptop for use with tablet mode for drawing, 3D sculpting, brush size, stabilization, hotkeys etc. It doesn't hurt that it's wireless, it doesn't hurt that it has backlight, all that is optional, all it does is increase the price, and you aren't forced to buy it. It is overpriced, but at the same time there's nothing like it on the market. A lite version would be great tho. Without the CNC aluminum. Battery life is a bit disappointing. I don't mind it not being optimized for a southpaw setup. FYI, RGB can be functional, it's not just for aesthetics. The only reason people have a problem with it is that it's sold by Glorious, a brand that used to be known for good, budget products. And now they're steering away from that brand image. If they released it under a premium sub-brand, then nobody would have an issue with it (similar to Toyota and Lexus). Or better yet, sell it as a 2x as expensive kit via group buys as that sub brand, then it would be sought after and enthusiasts/collectors would salivate over it. But I guess they aren't just some dude doing all that in a backyard shed. Or you can build yourself a Murphpad, for a similar cost, without backlight, with an OLED screen instead, with DIY build quality, with ZMK, so you're forced to remap your keys by hand in a text editor. No, thanks. Stop fanboying for brands, people. Love the product instead.

I have a number of custom keyboards and most of them are from Keychron, I have almost all the keychron Q models, because I find it fun to customise them and change form factor every now and then and I always know they will work fine out of the box (with Linux as well). I find the keychron prices reasonable and within the realms of the custom keyboards hobby, I would even say very affordable. But I have a hard time understanding where Glorious is going with these products and prices, I think they should be evolving the GMMK Pro brand with new models etc. like keychron does.

It truly sucks too because we know they can make good products, we've seen it. For all their QC problems they make some of the best mice on the market. You perfectly summed up my feelings on what glorious has been up to.

glorious seems to have forgotten they made their name on high quality (sometimes) budget options, and seem too interested in now making half assed highish end but not quite good enough stuff they can nickel and dime people with. glad i stopped buying from them after they told me my standards were too high when complaining about qc on a MOW

when the products in the ad are higher quality and from a better company than the product being reviewed... pretty sad tbh (sad as in pathetic for glorious. what a shitty company) always appreciate the honesty and zero bs policy in your reviews

A numpad with a slider and a knob, and bluetooth, and an actual case for $129 isn't anywhere as bad as you might think, relatively speaking. Relatively speaking is the key set of words though. Honestly go shopping for that kind of numpad and you'll quickly realize that it's actually somehow not a terrible deal

I agree with virtually the entire review, except for the comments on the knob/slider. More buttons on my board means I can use the same mouse for gaming as I do for productivity, but to each their own. For pairing with the GMMK Pro, I've found the KBDPAD MkII to be an excellent option, the angle is pretty close and the case corners are identical. Misses side RGB and gaskets, but on a numpad those are unnecessary. I will also investigate a pass through patch style cable on my setup, thanks for that idea.

Got one. It is perfect for my Razer Blade 15 Advanced laptop, though the numpad is very heavy. I bought it for the cnc build quality and wireless features. I imagine it is best matched to their $169 keyboard. I think it is quality over bargain pricing.

Lol. I bought this preordered this the other day because I need a numpad for work but I find 98% layouts too cramped. I own an RK with the same layout as the Keychron. It’s just too tight to be really effective. And since no one wants to build interesting full layouts, this is a great addition to a TKL

So many opportunities to right by the community and they did a complete 180 every time. They're not for enthusiasts and they've been alienating the Gaming crowd too. What's their end-game lately?

The piece of aluminum this thing is made from definitely adds to the majority of the cost. Bluetooth without the dongle also adds a decent amount of cost. I agree, the slider is useless since you have the nob for volume. I'm sure if you could make a macro for brightness for the then it'd be great but, that seems more feasible for a laptop than the desktop I use it with. What's kinda weird is that it goes into power saving mode after a few minutes of inactivity even when it's directly connected to PC via USB. I did get up upsold on different switches bc I wanted clicky ones to match my keyboard. Even then $129 is outrageous not counting shipping or any other accessories available.

I use an otholinear as my daily driver and always keep an eye out for a cool num pad. Like you said, this is more than my Drop that I want to use this with. Guess it's time to sit back and wait for something to come up (I just want one for entering IP addresses easier lol)

this has just been such a shame to watch as someone who is an OG glorious supporter ever since their first mousepads. watching a small company that cared for their products and consumers turn into another steelseries or logitech just hurts to see.

If you think about it, they are worse than logitech, razer, steelseries, etc. Those companies may overcharge for the quality of their product but at least they dont run scummy group buys.
