I mean when you think about it any animal terminology we use doesn't ever apply in pokemon since they don't actually have arachnids in their worlds. If you think about it all the titles for pokemon don't really make sense. Like pokemon being classified by the pokedex as bagworm pokemon since... well there is no such thing as a bagworm in the pokemon universe. Same for arachnids, technically the term doesn't exist in that world, hence why they can take the liberty of making them look different from our world's arachnids.

Common misconception about the chrysalis. They aren't actually spun by the caterpillars themselves (those are cocoons). Chrysalises are actually a hard outer shell that caterpillars form under their old bodies which grow and literally bursts out of them. Everything about the caterpillar's old appearance (face, legs, skin) is shed like a dirty onesie, and replaced with a stationary container where the caterpillar melts itself, reforming into a new creature a few days after.

I personally think that the Bug-type represents the "Arthropod-type" the same way how there used to be a Bird-type that they then renamed because things fly other than birds. There are things that are Bug-like that aren't just insects: like spiders, isopods, and hermit crabs. I wouldn't be surprised if in the future we get a Bug-type Horseshoe Crab or Sea Monkey. This also explains Shuckle because if Shuckle is based on a Crustacean (a Barnacle) it would be in line with the other crustacean bug types.
@catiniya Жыл бұрын
“Bugs” are an actual type of insect too, eg: assassin bug, kissing bug, stink bug. Since the name has been kinda washed out, we call them “true bugs” now. Think of it as calling a bee a butterfly when people say “that fly is a bug”, when that is not the case lol.

@@gabriellavedier9650 i mean, there is *some* resemblance, but i really cant see it at all besides the antenna and the vague shape if the appendix dorsalis and cerci (the three "tails" on silverfish) and a lil bit of the head shape. to me, pheromosa very much resembles a cockroach, specifically an amberwood or german cockroach. pheromosas translucent back highly resembles wings, their head and eye shape, the two claws some of them have, and cockroaches also have cerci themselves. contrary to popular belief, cockroaches are very clean and are condtantly grooming themselves. one of pheromosas pokedex entries say that it refuses to touch anything because it senses the uncleanliness of the world. another pokedex entry says that theyre very common in their world, like cockroaches are here. also many of pheromosas foreign names are derived from cockroach. i dont know much about copepods, but i know a lot about insects and pheromosa is about as cockroach like as a pokemon can get

Araquanid and Golisopod are really neat Pokemon, and I feel like Krabby, Clauncher, Kingler, or Clawitzer would appreciate having the second type to help them stand out from the plethora of other mono-water types (though Clauncher and Clawitzer already have a degree of uniqueness).

I think Pherimosa might be a moth of the Lymantriid family; they are very pale and sometimes have translucent wings. And pheromones, the word and sexual bio-chemical this Pokemon was named for, were first discovered in moths. Especially considering Pherimosa's feminine design; female moths give off pheromones to lure in males; butterflies and moths do it purely to find a mate, but some insects will apply a femme fatale strategy and lure in males of another species and devour them. Talk about a bad date.

Note, however, that when I looked at all of them yesterday while I was signed out, they did not appear on the Normal and Electric videos (although I still have them signed in, so they have not been deleted), so you might not be able to see those two either, although the other sixteen ought to be visible without problem.
