Now dump a 5 gallon pail of Gravel or other misc. rocks. Thats going to hurt even more, and the effects stay the same as the size increases. By the point water would be threatening because the potential shock and drowning, well, the rocks would probably have crushed your spine or broken so much that the internal bleeding will do the trick

I did some research and found out what Life Dew is most likely actually based on and it is really interesting and relates to the British Isles. During the Celtic festival of Beltane (which is still celebrated in Ireland) the Celts would visit Holy wells which have lots of folklore surrounding them and they washed themselves and sometimes their animals with Beltane dew which they believed would bring them youthfulness and beauty which is probably why Life Dew is named that way and why it heals your side of the field.

Bubbles might look inoffensive but there's a thing called cavitation bubbles. These are bubbles are formed when there's a rapid change of pressure in a liquid, normal or alike to bellow the liquid's vapor pressure in a very small area. So they are filled with hot vapor and be surrounded by normal bubbles making they implode liberating all the energy they stored. And hot I mean slightly bellow the surface of the sun or more. And there are some species of shrimp can create those bubbles discharging 4000°C in their imploding. A fricking shrimp Imagine how hot a bubble made by a Dreadnaw or Kyogre can make by snapping their jaws (size might nref them actually, but pokémon magic)

Somewhat related, somewhat tangential, but I really think Scald (and Steam Eruption) should be super effective against Ice-types, just to compliment Freeze Dry. Water Spout is also the name of tornadoes that form over water but that doesn't seem too relevant to the pokemon move itself. Also Primarina's z-move makes more sense when you take into account that water is surprisingly heavy. I’m pretty sure splash was the signature move of magikarp in gen 1, which is why it’s known for jumping.

In pokemon go splash is a water type move
@Liggliluff4 жыл бұрын
Yes, magikarp was the only pokémon who could use splash in gen I, and no other pokemon. But that's no longer the truth. The following pokémon will know splash from level 1: Gen II: hoppip, skiploom, jumpluff Gen III: azurill, wailmer, wailord, spoink, grumpig, feebas, wynaut Gen IV: buneary, lopunny Gen VI: clauncher, clawitzer Gen VII: bounsweet, steenee, tsareena, mimikyu, cosmog Gen VIII: clefairy, clefable, gyarados, cleffa, wobbuffet, milotic, -spoink, grumpig- One idea is to rename splash into jump, and create a new water move called splash, which will have a Japanese translation of that. Then remove all water-type pokémon from the current move and give them the water type move splash. Then this whole thing is solved.

How is it that bubbles and water guns can cause damage, but splashing is useless, even if done by a Wailord? XD
@DuskyPredator4 жыл бұрын
Well, the Japanese name is technically something like hopping, like a fish pointlessly flopping on the ground, which is why Hoppip also learns it for being in character to pointlessly hop around, as well as Azurill, Spoink and Buneary.
@AlteredNova044 жыл бұрын
Wailord is less dense than air, meaning that it would actually float like a helium balloon. This logically also means that it couldn't displace water so it would be terrible at splashing. Science!

It's obvious that Pokemon are Caster. They have Energy inside their Body. That's also what they use to Evolver. It's pretty obvious.

Wailords splash is actually a water spout I guess. Also, why is water sport even a thing when rain dance is much better alternative to that move (it also powers up water)

In the Pokemon Origins episodes, Giovanni's Nidoqueen uses Surf at Silph Co against Red where it gathers the water molecules from the air and hits Charizard with a watery fist. On;y time Surf has been used away from the water.

Surf and waterfall, imo, are best represented in Smash, with the up special you mentioned, but also Squirtle's dash could be what surf may look like when just for movement

The move ViceGrip is called Clamp in the Japanese version. This move is Normal type and really it should be called Pinch

I'd argue Withdraw barely qualifies as a Water move, since most sprites for the move show the Pokemon being encased in an Oyster or Clam shell, and we can draw a speculation that the pokemon is using Water Magic to withdraw into a Clam or Oyster shell.

A water spout is basically a tornado over a large body of water, so it causes large amounts of water to fly and spin into the air, and then fall back down with a tremendous amount of force when the storm dissipates.

but splash is a normal type move ;-; probably it was a intentional mistake to boost comments (they are good to the youtube algorithym). but it still a normal type move ;-;

Can't really blame him. Pokemon go also put it as a water type move. It's been almost 4 years but they still haven't fixed it.

@@vinkobresan3997 and the name was a mistranslation too. it should be called hop or jump. because hopping around does actually nothing. i dont get why they dont fix the name in the translations
