If they ever do anything significant with gnomes, they really need to do something to make them a little more exotic than "Yet ANOTHER short race living in The Empire". Move them to Naggaroth or Southlands and change up their culture to not just be Dwarf/Halfling-lite.

@@DarthEnderX Gnomes as the native race of Naggaroth and fighting an endless guerilla war against the Dark Elves honestly sounds pretty cool, and it's a nice retcon of Naggaroth being devoid of sapient (non-beastman, anyway) life prior to the Dark Elves arriving.

I remember playing Warhammer in the mid-late 80s onwards and you had Hobgoblins, Half-orcs, Snake man, Gnomes, a dwarf wizard, Amazons, Pygmies , Vimto Monks and probably more that i can no longer remember.

Imperial ogres was a thing. They wandered in from places unknown and adopted a dumbed-down, bastardized version of local culture. They weren't playable but you could meet them in a few adventures.

It's worth noting that gnomes were actually one of the races you could acquire followers for as a Chaos Champion on the Path to Glory back in the days of Warhammer 4e, which was also when Warhammer Roleplay 1e was a thing. It wasn't easy - you needed to roll a 100, a 2 and a 4 in that order on the retinue/followers table to get a squad of d6 gnomes in your warband - but, yeah, a particularly infamous gnomish Chaos Champion or Chaos-aligned force could have been one of the things that soured relationships.

Gnomes should be added along with Halflings as a minor race pack with their own rosters to add to other factions. Especially for The Empire.

@@aa-yt7wo They would need to rework them. I'd personally make them into tribalist halflings that do behave like real-life pygmies. Unlike real-life pygmies they'd also have the stuff they had early in Warhammer's existence (including giant gorilla mounts) and have it that they would slowly start to expand into the farming business while still being hunter gatherers.

Personally, I really like the 4e revamp of the gnomes, who in Warhammer Roleplay 1e were basically indistinguishable from their dwarven cousins; making them a vengeful race of shadow-magic manipulating shortfolk really gives them a distinctive nature, and even homages their D&D roots, where the defining characteristic of gnomes was that they were the one shortfolk race who could be wizards - specifically illusionists, the "super-school" for which shadow magic was a subschool - in contrast to dwarfs and halflings. Weirdly, I also really liked the 4e D&D revamp of gnomes, so that's a weird coincidence...

It was a good update. As I mentioned in my comment though, I think they've been dropped again looking at the later installments of The Enemy Within remake. It's all a little odd. Possible a result of GW deciding to bring the Warhammer world back.

​@@FasterThanJesus I honestly see the Enemy Within gnome character being absent is just for people who bought it without Rough Nights and Hard Days that re-adds gnomes to the setting. Just so those people didn't go "huh, what's a gnome". For me it will be canon unless stated otherwise because gnomes are cool and shortfolk are one of my favorite fantasy tropes that honestly gets too much hate from broader Warhammer community because they are not "gRiMdArK enough".

I could see Gnomes acting like Spites for the wood elves, with say a Empire engineer being able to get an ancillary gnome to give him abilities like Pidgeon bombs etc. Maybe a unit of small shadow casters a little bit like Sneaky Gitz with a bound spell. But for that reason, I can't seen them being in dwarf armies sadly.

It may be that the Gnomes lost most clans long ago (the Old World is know for catastrohies). The greenskin-attack a century ago might just increase the number of lost clans quite a bit.

In some versions of "A rough night at three feathers" it is a gnome pickpocket that skulks around the place, not a halfling. I can't remember any more adventures where they tossed in gnomes to meet up with. There was a few where you could run into imperial ogres.

Earlier, i mentioned i felt that halflings were not enough content to be a dlc on their own, with only 1 starting position, but i can totally see hobbits and gnomes being a dlc pack to bolster the empire's non-demonic factions.

With a recent OGL debacle I would love for you to make some sort of content regarding WFRP. Those who watch your channel are already pretty invested in Warhammer Fantasy lore so it would be a great way of introducing them to WFRP proper. They will stay part of Dogs of War i think and thats it. Kingdom of Ind and Nippon also have lore and Kingdom of Ind could also make it into the game.

17:30: Based on the human description there they are no good at everything. Being muscled out sounds like they're loitering and setting up camp in places where they're not welcome, accusing traders of 'stealing' sounds like they're fucking with trade and likely stealing, and so I'd guess by 'chasing us for whatever' Gnomes are up to all sorts of magical shenanigans and generally being a nuissance. Combine this with the unwelcome due to Elves comment and I think it's likely that the elves advised you can't have charlatans running around setting things on hellfire for the lulz.

I actually like gnomes not being present in warhammer Fantasy much. I see alot in other fantasies, they always take the place of tinkers and jewelers, usually always with humans. But I feel like the Dwarfs fit that role better and actually make the setting more different
