Great video that's the same rake that we had when I was a kid of 10. Your son is bright energetic he can help you and your teaching him things and I see he wants to do things. At times he was repeating what your saying you lol. Teach him to be safe what's, dangerous he will pickup things and learn fast and most important you will have great memories. Most important remember he or they I'm not sure if you have more children will come out of no where it seems. 90 weight oil will work fine in that gear box thinking. Have a great day great video

90 weight will be just fine. Run it hard!

I think that old girl appreciates any type of oil. That probably hasn’t been changed for 40 years. Nice job finding a manual.

On the loose ones, tack weld the bolt onto the bracket till you get new ones. You can spot weld them on just enough to hold the bolt from.turning, and grind the weld off to.re use the bracket after replacement. I put many miles on a rake like that, till we up graded and got one from New Holland.

I'm impressed that the gearbox didn't attract enough moisture to create milk-oil over the years. Possibly just a bit of dust found its way in to create the sludge.

It is very surprising

Pump it full of grease. The RPM,s are so low when in use the grease will work.

I forgot just a note rake would work better if you replaced all broken bent tines.

This rake is pretty worn out I might just look for a replacement rake.

Ohhh nooo!! 80-90 not 140!! the world will implode!! The cops will be coming to burn you at the stake! lol! Actually, I can't believe it still has oil in it. My David Bradley rake leaked all its out, so I just filled with grease. I know, I'm a bad farmer too lol!

I feel like using the fluid you have on the shelf is what a good farmer does.
