I live in Germany. And we've had coalition governments on a national level since 1949. And let me tell you something: Parties agree on the most beautiful coalition agreements at the beginning of each new government. But the world doesn't stand still. It's moving. Things change. And with them priorities. Our incumbent government was formed in the fall of 2021. At that time most of us didn't expect Russia to attack Ukraine. Most of us believed that we will get cheap gas from Russia for the rest of our lives. Most of us didn't pay attention to our military. But then Russia did attack Ukraine. And suddenly things changed dramatically and so did the priories. To make a long story short: Don't take coalition agreements too seriously. The year 2027 might look quite different from the year 2024.
@CodeSleeper
@CodeSleeper 3 күн бұрын
I get your point, the only constant is change, but hey, to honest... That was your own doing... Ukraine is not part of NATO or the EU and nor is it your neighbour. Minsk 1, Minsk 2 followed by the admission of guilt from garentor A. Merkel, regarding both deals. Nord Stream 2 miraculously exploded and it is said it was done by the Russians who could've just switched the taps off, but they like to blow things up or is that Chuck Norris🙄🙄🙄 Anyway, We understand that you guys hav'nt had sovereignty since 1948, so disregard 2022-2024 and you realize that you (Germany) have had stable coalitions (to a large extent) and a thriving economy which can be attributed to your homogenous population and it didnt hurt that you paid some reparations, as well as personel (Wernher von Braun etc), Tech (NASA), Sciences and giving up all gained territories etc to try and repair a historical injustice... Now In RSA, we have nothing remotely close to that, which compounds our racial intolerences as well as our differences... SA is a different cup of tea.

@@wonder-xpw Let me get this straight: calling out the thieving and looting of the state by a democratically elected government, with evidence laid bare in the Zondo Commission, somehow makes me an apartheid beneficiary? That has to be one of the most absurd things I've ever heard. Let's talk about land reform. The ANC's failure to act effectively in this area is due to rampant corruption, a blatant lack of accountability, and staggering incompetence. If the lady is saying we need efficient and credible people to run the government, she's absolutely right. Where did your brain take you to come up with the idea that this is about apartheid privileges? When someone says what Helen is talking about-demanding integrity in government-you somehow twist that into thinking we should tolerate corruption? It seems your brain can't comprehend that the ANC's corruption has stymied land reforms. Wanting leaders who won't loot and destroy the country for their own gain is hardly the mark of an apartheid beneficiary. Do you even understand what you're talking about, or were you just trying to use a lot of noisy verbs and nouns to make it seem like you had a point?

If far smaller parties get a ministry, they are getting more than their proportion allows. In effect, not aligning with the will of the people. Each ministry equates to 3.3% proportionally. Hence, only the ANC, DA, and IFP should get leading ministerial roles. Everyone else in the GNU should be considered for deputy positions. It's quite simple. Anything else would not be fair and would undermine the will of the people. This should be the starting point.

The ANC has destroyed many of this country's once great state assets. That is a fact. They inherited a system that functioned (for a minority). All they had to do was build government capacity and facilitate a thriving economy. What we got instead was a bloated and incompetent public service, failing and failed SOEs, collapsed city's and municipalities, cadre deployment, systemic corruption, syndicated crime with strong links to key government figures, etc., etc... You can fix these complex issues in a few year, it will take us decades...provided we get on and stay on the right path.

I am a behaviourist by training and people generally behave their thoughts out. They dont hide this well enough because, in this case, of pride. Also you cannot ignore racism and call it logic. Ignoring racism is just ignorance, becomes very difficult to argue logis from that stance. If we continue to be uncomfortable with identifying it and its nuances it will fester I think. It wont go away. The greatest challenge facing this country, if not the globe, is to unite the populace. Period. Opinions are of the mind and shaped by experience. The mind by definition lives in separation - and thus inevitably we will disagree. We are not called to like everyone on this planet, however we are called to love everyone. The separation frequency that infects our species can be tempered somewhat by asking this simple question. If I had had the exact same experiences as the other, is there a possibility that I would think and act like them. One does not need to answer this question, rather it is in the contemplation of it that the seed of understanding and compassion can grow in our collective heart. I love you Juju. I love you Helen.
