The Best days of Music! Long Live the 80's! The people on AB were watching the GoGo's Live as they danced in the stands there. Even the guys were dancing🕺& of course Drooling over the Beautiful GoGos. I was 📺watching AB this day in 1982, as Most All teens & young adults had their eyes glued to AB every Saturday, ( unless we had a job, & most of us did). We knew The GoGo's were going to be on AB, as there were advertisements during the week. My kids nor my grandkids know the Excitement of shows like American Bandstand.

I loved the Go-Go's and went to see them in concert around 85 or 86. I got the first ticket to the concert based on the number on the ticket. What was really sad and embarrassing was that there were probably less than 2000 people in a 13,000 seat arena. The band played along like professionals but I felt sorry for them the whole time.

The first record that was played was the Crickets' "That'll Be The Day" {peaked at #1 for 1 week on Sept. 23rd on Billboard's Best Sellers chart}... It might not seem like it because of the obvious lip-synch performance, but a glass ceiling was shattered when this episode of "American Bandstand" aired back in 1982. Jane's words were prophetic: the success of The Go-Go's paved the way for every girl rock band that came afterward. Whether they want to or not, every grrl band from The Bangles to The Pussycat Dolls and even Japan's Shonen Knife owe a big debt of gratitude to The Go-Go's for blazing the trail. :)

We didn't have social media, other means to see these artists often so to sit Saturday morning to witness these chicks or others perform meant something. It was about fun and the music. Did she really? Because don't forget...shoes back then, even heels, made it kinda impossible to fall and break a bone. They were made of a versatile and flexible new state of the art space aged material we used for tons of stuff back then called "jelly." lol. Jellies or jelly heels lol. Do girls still have shoes made of jelly? Shoot in the 80s I had neon (sorry, that's redundant I guess given the decade) jelly shoes, jelly framed sunglasses, a jelly band with Velcro digital watch which was 69 cents with a value meal at McDonald's, and a Legend of Zelda wallet made from jelly plastic I got in my Nintendo cereal with a cut out mail in and a dollar. Really wish all those things hadn't made their way to the trash eventually. Hmmm...right here in my cabinet I have my sister's crimper...but that looks like the lone survivor of a bygone era :.(

Belinda is adorable. She completely misses her queue on the second verse of "We Got the Beat" 6:28 Belinda is happy now and in a good place in her life. Many of us know all about her struggle with booze and a cocaine addiction. Rod Stewart said in his autobiography, "Belinda could snort the lacquer off a table." All the Go-Go's could party the guys under the table. Belinda and Jane founded the Go-Go's. Belinda brought in Charlotte and she also was the one that went out and tried to get the group bookings and a record deal. These girls did all the ground work after creating the band. Went on to sing, write and play their own instruments. Damn impressive.
