Go onboard the SSC Tuatara as it hits a staggering 295mph!

The SSC Tuatara achieved a verified 295mph with Johnny Bohmer Proving Grounds at Space Florida’s LLF, Kennedy Space Center, Merritt, Florida on 14th May 2022. This was measured using a VBOX Touch RTK and VBOX Video HD2 installed and checked by RACELOGIC Technical Director Jim Lau.

It took around 4 seconds for the car to go from 290 to 295mph, which was about the same for the Chiron SS 300+. Of course we dont' know what the wind speeds were that day, but they are actually quite close

Just for your information: The Koeningsegg Regera can do 0-400 in 22,87 sec and the Bugatti SS clocked 304,77 m/h and was still accelerating. But that said, this SSC Tuatara is highly impressive, I give you that. And we have not yet seen Koenigsegg Jesko Absolut in action.....

Idk about 1350hp but you're right something seems off because I remember when they did that two-way run for the world record back in 2021 one of the runs it started pulling so hard at around 280mph and I didn't see that in this race.

But this has waay less drag than Agera, so if this car was on 1750hp here then the pull would've been lot harder. IG it would've made 305MPH in the same runway.

If the road was long enough, it would have gone way beyond the 300 m/h mark. But, as it is, the ONLY car able to do it so far is the Bugatti Chiron 300+. But time has run out for this company. While they still has not delivered a +300 m/h result, the Bugatti (like it or not) is the current top speed holder......

Das ist recht genau die Kennlinie, welche die Geschwindigkeitsentwicklung oberhalb 300 km/h beschreibt (ohne Schaltvorgänge). v(t) = 492,5* (1 - (1-300/492,5)*e^(-0,095*t)) 350 - 390 km/h ~ 3,5 s 450 - 470 km/h ~ 6,7 s 400 - 474 km/h ~ 17 s Spätestens bei 493 km/h wäre das Ende der Fahnenstange erreicht gewesen. Auf jeden Fall ist er in der vmax nicht schneller als der Chiron Super Sport, der die gleiche Geschwindigkeit im Ehra Lessin bei größerer Luftdichte geschafft hatte und in Amerika sicherlich die 500 km/h gepackt hätte. Definitiv hatte der Tuatara in dem Run keine 1700+ PS 😉

Of course it wasn't running at 1700+HP. Tuatara in this video is running at 1550-1600 hp at best with 20 pounds of boost maximum so it was nowhere near it's full power. When he reached 295 mph full boost was just starting to kick in. The engine is capable of 1861 HP and 27 pounds of boost. They had to go with this option because the runway was short and engine could blow up if it's ran at full power constantly. There's a reason why in Bugatti and Koenigsegg's runs they slowly build up speed until 200mph then go full throttle so the engine and tires don't overheat. The difference is that they had a lot of miles to work with whereas SSC only has 2-2.3 miles to reach the speed. I do think the car can get close to 500km/h in this venue but that's it. Anything higher they'll need a longer road.

No, on there first the equipment wasn’t set correctly and ended being a miss reading which is why they made a video after words to clarify that they didn’t hit 335. Later they did their second run and got 282. Just about beating the Koenigsegg Agera RS. This run they had more runway and 295.
