So refreshing from all the other flat patterning vids out there.

So interesting how it's like figuring out a puzzle. I like how you talked through your thought process on why you were doing what you were doing. Also I think we could've had a CoCoVid scavenger hunt for how often people said in vids "Don't put pins in your mouth... even though I just did." :D

wow! this was an amazing video. I never thought I could do draping, but your videos have made me think otherwise. I love the fabric for your dress too! I am planning a late 30's early 40s wardrobe and this has helped me out a lot. Thank you!

I am making a Vogue vintage dress. The description on the pattern is absolutely horrendous. So I am re-drafting part of it myself to make it make sense. Your pattern is exactly what I have been looking for. So thanks for posting this and I can’t wait to get started.

Ô.Ô Stunning result! I think this is definitely one of the things you need to try to really understand it. You gave us a crutch, now we need to do it ourselves and do more thinking about it.

Definitely true. 3 dimensional thinking is more easily done in 3D. I can give you a foundation to stand on but you need to build the house. What I love about bias draping is that there are rules but also so much freedom within those rules. But that freedom can scare some people. My advice, just start and have fun!

When I read the title of your primer, I laughed. When I read the title of this one, I almost fell out of my chair. Watched the cartoon all the time as a kid. Very lovely dress. I've learned a lot about how to drape--thank you!

I love draping. Haven't done a lot of bias work but I love how the fabric tells you what it wants to be.

This was so informative! I got confused with the skirt attachment. Was there magic to starting with a half circle? Between the half circle and the angled hipline I am ??? I would have expected (I know nothing about draping) you to start start at waist with cross grain, so bias could go across body. Then attach to angled hip line. Maybe that is the same thing? The fabric pattern is gorgeous and the final dress is smashing.

I needed the straight of grain to be hanging at the center front pleats. It ends up being a weird looking half circle.

Did you have to put a closure on the side of the dress or does the bias stretch enough to get it on over your head? Also, how did you finish the back v-neck edge-A strip of the dress fabric, bias strip inside, facing? This was one of the most interesting videos I had seen in a while! I love watching your process and learn something every time I watch one of your videos. The dress looks lovely on you!

Tiara Bass, yes, I did put a zipper in the side. Just for ease of getting it on. I did a bias tape finish on the neckline and arm hole. I will put some pictures on my instagram stories for you. And thanks for the complement!😘

Queen De Luxe, thank you for your response! I don’t have Instagram but I will try to see if I can pop over there and see your pictures. I think I get how you did it though. I have been using bias strips more(including making some out of silk charmeuse which was an interesting challenge but gorgeous outcome) and the book I have with 1920s/30s patterns in it uses bias strips in so many genius ways.

witness2fashion.wordpress.com/2015/09/09/biased-in-favor-of-vionnet-and-ericson-part-2/ I go back and periodically read these 2 blog posts about vionnet whenever I get the itch. I will share the part 2 in another comment. I am so fascinated by her ingenuity and how she really understood fabric as flowing like water.

witness2fashion.wordpress.com/2015/09/05/biased-in-favor-of-vionnet-and-sandra-ericson-part-1/ Bias is a form of magic, lol, but vionnet’s straight grain seams and cutting makes it slightly more approachable. Thanks again for your bias draping dress videos. It is so nice to geek out on this for a minute!

I love the back too. One of the reasons I chose that sketch. Try the badge again. There was some chatter on discord that the badge app is just way overloaded. Hopefully it just that.
