Hey Sarah! After watching a number of your inspirational, informative, and brilliant content on copywriting all I can say is thank you for being so honest with all that you’re teaching. It’s funny how there’s really not that many KZbin channels on the skill of copywriting. Iv watched many and yours is so relatable and true.

Just came back for a 3 week trip to Bali, and it's really made me start to take the idea of becoming a freelance copywriter seriously. I have an undergraduate degree in English, and a diploma in Advertising and Marketing. (not that it matters lmao) Also worked for an advertising agency for 6 months so I have decent copywriting experience and digital marketing understanding. I know I want to do this, but I'm terrified to start. It has been a really tough year for me and my confidence is on an all time low. But....Watching your videos on repeat for motivation. Thank you 🙏

Hey Taytay! I went to Bali this year too! You can get started by following the steps in my four-video mini course on copywriting! Take it one step at a time. Start with getting in the business owner mindset! You got this! Even just 30 minutes a day will take you so far!

Sarah, thanks for making such positive videos! Not only are they informational, but they make me excited about the possibilities out there. I've noticed that some other channels about copywriting/freelance writing can be negative and immediately put me in a defeatist mindset. However, when I watch your channel I am rejuvenated and motivated! Keep up that positivity-- it's contagious!

Hey Sarah!! Thanks for this. I need to become more strategic with my goals. I'm trying to only work with digital marketing agencies and virtual assistant agencies for the B2B social media marketing/digital marketing niche. I created a questionnaire a few days ago to start "qualifying" new leads. The tip you gave to learn and practice my writing daily is good too! I know I'll be where I want to be in a year or 2, just have to keep at it!
@SarahTurnerAgency5 жыл бұрын
Awesome! For most people, I don't generally recommend giving a prospective client a questionnaire. I see my part of my job is to make my client's life easier and I don't want to give them extra work. If you have a strong reputation and turning away leads then it might be time for a questionnaire. :)

Sarah, your content is great! Thank you for sharing. I totally relate to your mention of research taking the longest at first. Do you have a video of best researching practices? I wrote a blog for a holistic clinic, and research and writing altogether took about 4 hours for over 1,000 words. Rewording takes a lot of my time for me too and makes me feel discouraged, like I’m not good enough. Any suggestions for this predicament? Thank you!
@SarahTurnerAgency2 жыл бұрын
I’d definitely limit the time you spend researching. I know I can go down a rabbit hole and end up spending hours exploring different articles if I allow myself to. And hiring an editor makes all the difference! Not only is it difficult to edit your own pieces, but it also takes way more time. Having another set of eyes on what you write before sending your work to your client is definitely beneficial.

Love your videos! I understand the importance of picking a niche. However, for the most part it seems that the majority of people advise picking just one. I have read a few articles where the authors said that having three areas was okay to do. Would you mind giving your thoughts on this alternative advice? I ask because construction copywriting is kind of what I’m blocked into from my past career. I do enjoy it but as an expat/ avid traveler and a volunteer paramedic I would love to list the three niches of construction, travel, and medical copywriting. Would this hurt me while I’m transitioning into working as a freelancer or do you think it’s okay?
@SarahTurnerAgency5 жыл бұрын
I recommend choosing one niche because it communicates to your clients that you're a specialist in your field. Multiple niches tells them you're more of a jack-of-all-trades, master of none. If you want to have more than one niche, I recommend having a separate website for each niche. You don't need to have previous experience in your niche, either. I'm all for writing about what you love. Copywriters are paid to research. As long as you're willing to put in the research, you can pick whichever niche you love to write about/ talk about/ research about.

Hi Sarah, thanks so much for all your videos. I really enjoy watching and get so much value from them. I was wondering if you can explain more about the process you use to get clients. I saw the cold email video, which was great, and hoping you can elaborate more as to how you engage potential clients, handle objections and win contracts. I can tell from your website that your experience speaks for itself, and you probably get a lot of referral work, but how did you manage prospecting when you first started out with less experience? I am interested to hear your feedback. Any advice you can provide will be very helpful. Thanks again for all you do!

These are great questions, Kris! I've added them to my future videos list. I will continue to make videos on these because it's definitely important! I will add that most of my clients came from cold emails. Don't underestimate these :)

Thank you so much Sarah. I have just discovered your channel and spent all day absorbing your insights. What you're providing is extremely valuable. I have a question about blog post length and cost -- I hope you don't mind my asking! Say you charge $200 for a 1,200-word post, would you then recommend charging $400 for a 2,400-word post (i.e. just doubling the price for double the word-count)? Or are there other factors to consider? Thanks again for all that you do!
@SarahTurnerAgency5 жыл бұрын
In general you can definitely just double the pricing. There's also things to take into considerations such as how technical it is, what your level of expertise is, etc. These numbers are always just guidelines.

You can follow the steps from my free masterclass to start your copywriting business. www.writeyourwaytofreedom.co/vsl The 30 minutes a day will include doing things like practicing writing copy, forming a list of ideal clients, creating your website, and eventually pitching your services. The idea is that you don’t need a huge chunk of time every day in order to make progress. If you’re consistently taking baby steps, you’ll definitely be able to reach your goals. :)

What makes medical copywriting different from other copy?
@SarahTurnerAgency4 жыл бұрын
I'm a copywriter in the medical niche. Medical copywriting is more technical than health & wellness. There are lots of niches out there. Picking a niche give your business focus and allows you to become an expert in that field.
@brightpage10204 жыл бұрын
Sarah Turner Agency Thanks. I know about niches. I used to work as an executive for a medical non-profit that produced medical missions worldwide. I started their newsletter, which established a 30% ROI on a consistent basis. It translated into staying in the black year ‘round (between big fundraising efforts) and being able to afford some expensive equipment the founder had wanted for the organization for a few years. What I meant was that copy, specifically, for them had more medical jargon in general, but was still about telling their story and garnering donations (instead of sales). I found a lot of the same formulaic tricks worked well for the medical field donation copy as work for the sales or b2b marketing fields... wondering if you found some new hacks?

I am struggling to understand my niche and where to go to find information on my niche. I am debating right now between a Christian Living based niche or a self-help niche. Any advice would be hugely appreciated!

You can type your niche + copywriter in Google to see who else is writing in your niche. To find businesses in your niche, think about who's spending money on marketing in the self-help space or the Christian Living space.
