Perfect timing on this video! I've been doing some VVE tuning (did MAF first) on my 2010 camaro SS. It's got a TSP stage 2 N/A cam, long tubes, and CAI. I'm reading lambda with an AEM x-series wideband. The bung is a weldless band clamp style. Looking at the VVE table, the Idle cells and the zones when I first start to go keep registering super lean but are also higher in cell value than most everywhere else. Given the weldless bung, it makes me think there is an leak at the sensor location because idle exhaust smells super rich. The weird thing is that the sensor registers pretty much at target when cruising or in the throttle. So my questions are: 1) Is it a normal value for the cells at idle to be higher than surrounding zones? 2) Could a small leak be overcome when more exhaust flow/pressure is present? Side note: I turned everything back on after this latest tuning session and the car seems to have less of a rich smell at idle

I have a innovate mix-l plus and my sensor went out after 2months , it’s on a Bosch 4.9. Before I had it right after the turbo in the downpipe, so I moved it more then 22” after the turbo as recommended and not even a full month of use the new sensor went out….. I’m thinking of switching to aem

Can you pull your factory o2 and leave the wideband in? And keep it in there? Or no?

Could you describe where you added the wideband bung on your G8 (back in the day) with Kooks mid-length headers? With limited collector real estate, I'm wondering what you worked out. I've seen the bung added on the hiflow cat just ahead of the brick, but would prefer sensor be a bit further from that heat source. Thanks in advance.

What about using the factory downstream bungs? Running without cat’s currently, is the only disadvantage the delay or is there another factor? Thanks Kyle, great video like always

I am Just a baby when it comes to tuning. Bought a 2017 Corvette zo6 that has numerous performance upgrades unbeknownst to me. Can I truly not get rid of permanent DTCs that are currently showing? When you say disable the O2 sensors before tuning. Do I just uncheck it in the DTC list? How do I get you to look at this crazy tuning? Sounds vicious but runs like crap!

Goatrope. I had a question about widebands and dynos. When I had my car tuned I think they had a temporary wideband installed in my exhaust to tune the car. Is it possible to clamp a wideband on your exhaust for tuning? I know you mentioned the wideband should be installed before your CAT. Just curious how these people tune cars on dynos if they don't weld in a bung and put in a permanent wideband. Thanks for your vidoes, they have been great!

Kyle great info as always, Kyle is there a way to get rid of permanent DTC's (engine light), i'm running an LSA in my 80 series Landcruiser hence it has been a complete swap out, it's the complete unit from a 2015 VF Holden Commodore E67 and 6L90 (Aussie vehicle) still running the four 02 sensors front and rear both banks with a AEM X series wideband, and yes the exhaust has completely changed from original it's running Hiflow cats, it keeps telling me incomplete catalyses, I don;t seem to be able to clear the 02 codes they always come back any ideas, Thanks Glynn.

If it's still an issue, GESI makes high flows that are basically as good emissions wise af the factory ones but can be good up to 1200 horse per pipe.

I guess my only question is about location. When you only have one sensor, but 2 banks. Do you only read afr from one bank? Or do you go farther downstream at a collector or x pipe?

Is the 5$ scanner set-up on your website using the 4.2 or 4.9 sensor? Thank you for everything Kyle! how did you learn to weld? kind of tired waiting for custom exhaust work so i can drive my ls swap :(
@GoatRopeGarage
@GoatRopeGarage 3 жыл бұрын
Learned to weld on the farm. The sensor type isn't the issue, it's the controller/gauge to get it into the scanner, best bet is the AEM 30-0300 with a serial to USB connector, I have a video going over it, just search serial wideband!

Not sure the gauge will work with the factory sensors if you have factory widebands, but you can setup a gauge on the scanner to show you the wideband reading

Man, there was a solution for you. a dynojet product called "wideband 2"... It's hooks up to your PC5 like autotune does, but has the added feature of reading afr on a gauge or a screen. Most people don't know Wideband 2 even exists. You can run it as a autotune device or as a standalone afr gauge or both 😉

Just to say, the KZbin bell system change has never shown me a new video of yours being shown. I've never got an answer but it appears it requires on to select "All". As a simple tech, dealer and other, bad part, put new part on. But changes using parts for other applications require me to research. I am not the young Buck for decades that I was but into my 60's. Holding tech seminars and two day classes in 7 upper Midwest states wore me down on time as 243 day per year in a hotel gets old after 5 or 6 years. It is not your fathers one wire zirconium oxide O2 sensor anymore, but building a 56 year old truck w/auto to drive when I need to go somewhere does not require me add $2k in parts I don't need. The 2003 Tahoe I harvested parts from was a friends vehicle who learned what black ice is! I have 4 wires O2 sensors, 2 for the heater and two dedicated to the PCM. Please tell me I need nothing more? All I want is torque as not much 6k RPM runs. Thanks DK, ASE master since 1978

I know there is a Volkswagen wideband sensor that is a 4.9 I just don't know off the top of my head what year I think it's something like O2 thru 05. I remember when I had my 95 Eagle Talon running ecmlink and when my wife in would go bad I would just go to AutoZone and get one from a Volkswagen and it's only like around $50. I'll have to double-check and look what year exactly then I will edit my comment and hopefully that will help someone out
