PLX is good stuff. You can change the display to Lambda also if you want. The single DM6 gauge can be daisy chained with other PLX Modules. I was using a fluid pressure module to monitor fuel pressure. You press on the screen (in a certain spot) and you can cycle through what you are monitoring.

@@GoatRopeGarage Now that I think about it, I was also monitoring oil pressure. Since there are no commercial gauge pods for the XLR, I would seriously look at getting an older smart phone and use their app. You would be able to monitor more than one thing on a single screen and the display would be bigger and prettier. There are plenty of ways to mount a phone in a car.

I have an X series canbus but I’m switching the Innovate. Their AFR/BOOST gauge with built in controller is just too nice to ignore. For $290 you can get an afr/boost gauge with built in controller and solenoid. Compared to AEM it’s a steal. The AEM boost controller alone is $300 plus another $200 for an afr. Obviously everyone won’t need boost support but man it’s hard to beat at that price.

I know this is roughly a year old and MPVI2 Pro now has offline data logging, but I’m not even there yet. I’ve got a GenIV LY6 with VVT removed and a BTR cam going in my 71 C10 project. The engine cam with an E38 and a 6L90 but I had to get an aftermarket harness due to massive damage when the engine was pulled at the salvage yard. The harness is Speartech and connects to engine and trans. The TCM has been reprogrammed with a Corvette OS for manual shift capability. I have not bought my HPTuners, nor the wideband, yet. I will be able to take a laptop with me for tuning but wonder if offline makes more sense. Comments? Scoggin Dickey offers a package deal with HPTuners and wideband, AEM, I think. Is that the way to go? I’m assuming I’ll be tuning the MAF curve first (Spectre 4” is what I’ve got there, with a blade MAF supported by the Speartech harness-not the truck MAF), then VVE, rinse repeat, etc. Anybody see major pitfalls coming? How about a base tune file, recommended file ID? Thanks in advance for any responses!

I'm trying to decide on a inline or gauged wideband. Inline will let me tune and I don't have to deal with mounting a gauge. A gauge will let me see it when I'm not tuning. I'm running 2003 Silverado 2500HD 4wd 6.0L with nothing crazy. Just cat-back and cold air. I'm going to be tuning and adding stuff here and there but each time retune so do I really need a live gauge? I assume without crazy mods I can expect my AFR to be pretty stable. I do plan on going with a Magnuson supercharger in the future. Do I need a live gauge then? I'm curious at what point do you decide you need live AFR all the time vs when your just tuning? If anyone has an opinion please lay it on me.

The gauge is simply a converter; 0-5v is proportional to (e.g.) 8.0:1 to 20.0:1 afr. That isnt analog to digital conversion. A digital signal is either off or on. Analog will give you an actual value. Digital - pressure switch; Analog - pressure transmitter.
@GoatRopeGarage5 жыл бұрын
The gauge interprets the analog signal, in order to display it in the gauge it is converting it to digital, don't mistake a digital input for the fact that all analog signals are processed into a digital signal, represented be a number based on the bit size of the A2D, which isn't going to be very high in the situations, but to give you an example a 16 bit A2D used in PLC systems is going to have an integer range 0-65535. About 1/5 of the customers that come to my shop have AEM wideband, and all but two (meaning dozens just this year) have read wrong compared to my calibrated dyno wideband. Not good. Most of the wrong ones have read about 10% too rich. I couldn't recommend one based on this experience. They also display bogus values at startup too. There's no way for a wideband to output data in 5 seconds like their gauges do. Read the Bosch wideband specs.

Well now, a manufacture would not want to be 10% lean would they. I would bet they are delererberatly 10% rich

Q: is it possible to just replace the OEM Narrow Band (NB) O2 sensors after the cats with WB 4.9 sensors and connect them to the ECM continously ? Will it be compatible and operate on a day to day basis as the NB 02s are supposed to? If possible then you can get the accurate lambda, AFR, EQ read that is needed for tuning using MPVI2 any time you connect. The specific application is a 19' Stingray (Gen 5 LT1) with 7MT. Thanks

No, you don't want them behind the cats anyways as they will skew you're readiness and cause delayed readings. On top of it they won't work in the correct way that the normal narrowband sensors for the cats work. They do make wideband sensors that can replace the front ones and will work as a narrowband emulator in place of the factory.

@@GoatRopeGarage Thanks. I meant to say downstream of the cats. But you are saying they won't work as intended. What if the vehicle has cat-less Long Tube headers, will that make a difference in your answer?

@@kiyalami8478 catless you might be alright but there can still be a delay in part throttle

Hey Kyle, I see you have experience with rx7's. Any of those that you've tuned running the Apexi Power F/C? I have one for my SR20DET and I'm trying to get it set up to tune. Any recommendations on datalogit hardware/software? Do you know if the 30-0300 would be compatible? Thank you so much in advance for any help! Love the vids!

Just saw PLX has an adapter that sends data to a smartphone wirelessly and displays via their app. What're your thoughts on that setup?

Which one did you get?

I pressed enter accidentally on my previous comment. I now have purchased the pro feature set, Is there any chance of making a clear video on where to connect the wires from the AEM and the pro link cable, to they both go on the expandable hub, the diagrams aren't that clear. A video will be great, your videos are the most clearest and detailed. Most beginners will benefit from a video on how to wire up and what colours cable go with.

I would like to have a portable Wideband that can be used with multiple cars with going under the car do you have any suggestions?
@EZ-D-FIANT5 жыл бұрын
Mot testers (UK) use equipment that can do that, off the top of my head I couldn't recommend a brand/model but I know they exist ad IV seen them operate, a crocodile clip holds the sensor in the tip so I doubt they are very accurate for tuning, your always going to have that problem with this idea as simple sensor location is end of exhaust and due to exhaust pulsing this area is not Ideal! Good luck finding something it does sound an interesting idea.....

Goat Rope Garage will i be able to connect it to hptuners like you showed before? One more thing a street tuber tuned a friends car in-front of me he used some sort of a copper long probe like the ones that dyno jet use and had a handheld device as you said do you have any info on that setup, whats that probe is in particular

@@MALR7 probably a sniffer probe to get a more accurate reading on into the exhaust.

I'm having a hard time finding a video on what I need to change in the tune when I install my new Torque converter. I'm going from stock 14-1800 stall to a 34-3600.
