Can't wait for your next clip!

I’ve always just winged it with some of the unknowns and I’m glad to know in most cases it’s Sino! This is helpful by summarising everything.

I was told at a very young age that Koreans learned Chinese, because Korea historically engaged in a lot of trade with China. So, if you learned Chinese, you had access to a wider market and it eventually became a sign of wealth, status and education. Hence, why money and measurements pertaining to tradable (non-living) objects, used the Sino-Korean number system. Full disclaimer: I am not an expert and I could be wrong on this lol.

8:11 Thank you for this! I was wondering why my Korean friend corrected me when I used NKN for counting up to six breaths… now I know that intangible objects have to be in SKN. The tip I was given to decide with system to use when I get stuck was to see if the counter is hanja or not. A hanja counter would usually be paired up with SKN and a pure Korean counter with a NKN (although looking at counting pages, this would already be wrong!!). Would this still be a reliable tip to use when deciding which system to use?

It's not related to whether it's a Hanja word or not.

May I ask this? We can say ‘3 months’, e.g. you only have 3 months to finish this project. Either 삼개월 or 세달, correct? My question is… what is the difference between 세달 and 석달?
