Speaking ONLY KOREAN with my bilingual son | Korean ice cream store with no staff

My son Jeremy is bilingual in Korean and English. He speaks only Korean with his mom, and about half English and half Korean with me. Part of my goal is for him to be able to speak Korean as fluently as possible, and help him to maintain it as he gets older. We travel to Korea together once a year and he speaks as much Korean as possible when he’s there, and when outside of Korea we make sure he’s getting plenty of exposure and practice with the language.

I mean I love your teaching videos but this has to be the BEST video I've seen yet. Your son is so cute! Does he prefer to speak in Korean or English more? Also, I could really understand his pronunciation so well as a learner. Sometimes listening to kids is easier because they speak a bit slower haha!

English is his stronger language, but he's never complained when we request that he speaks Korean, and he loves watching kids' shows in Korean.

@J R People who speak two languages will have a "stronger" one that they prefer, or one that they prefer for certain situations. This is because it's hard to exactly match the amount of exposure/time/use of both languages, so one will get more than the other.

@@powerpuff4ever His stronger language will always likely be English, since he spends most of his time in the US. That's just unavoidable. But we hope through encouraging him to continue using Korean daily (which we do), that he'll be able to maintain a high level of Korean as he gets older.

❤️❤️ Love this video. Not only I got to see all kinds of ice cream in the Korean at a 24/7 ice cream store.. I got see and hear the back and forth dialogue between you and your son. Is it possible to make a lesson with this video.... Go over the dialogue slowly and point out sentence structures, honorifics and vocabulary words etc. Like the different kinds of ice cream. Nice to see live videos of everyday conversations in Korean like this. 👍 I think you are the only one who is doing this on KZbin. I haven't seen any other Korean language KZbin channels that do this. I would like to see more of them. I hope you didn't get in trouble with your wife for letting your son eat all that ice cream 🍦🍦 lol. ㄱㄱㄱ.

Billy is one of my favs. But he's certainly not the only one who does real conversation Korean!! There are quite a few. Try "Yoiur Korean Saem" - she has a lovely channel and there are quite a few real Korean conversations there. And "Serena The Korean Teacher" has a couple of lovely slower upper beginner monologues that I loved (upper beginner level monologues are the most difficult to find :-( - most are either very beginner or intermediate).
