It's fun to revisit these livestreams (and edits) years later. I agree with one of the other commenters who said they noticed progress. It feels good to go back and realize how much you've learned, and to pick up some details you might have missed! Something I have noticed from hearing the ~ㄹ/을게요 form for awhile is that it seems as though people are implying something like "if it's okay with you..." For example my husband said the other day: 더 필요한 게 없으면 내가 바로 주문할게! Does anyone else get the same kind of feeling from this grammar form?

It's not so much asking for the other person's approval, as it is "letting you know I'm going to" when you use it. But close!

What is said in the first couple of minutes is very interesting about present tense verbs. I came to this after writing a sentence and I wanted to use a plain form in my writing (because it's a journal) that might happen in the future. It seems that if a present tense verb can also mean future that I would not need to have these future forms. I could then use the present tense verbs and keep the plain style endings. Thanks for this video!

So I know "먼저 갈게" is common, and I don't think it really means that you're doing it for someone else. (Although I guess it could sort of be interpreted that way? Someone has to go first. Who's going to go first? I'll do it.) Anyway, I don't have a question about that, as such. I was just wondering if you can think of other cases like this where -ㄹ게 is commonly used but doesn't exactly mean that you're doing something as a favor.

I think of it as "you only it as a response to someone". As a reaction to what someone did, will do, or you think they will do. It's always about the other person.

You can use 래(요) for 1st or 2nd person, but not 3rd person.
