@@123domo8 If we're talking about "unusual" PC races, ones that I would like to see added would be Minotaurs, Changelings, Yuan-Ti Purebloods, Half-Dragons/Dragonborn (I'd prefer the former), & Aarakocra (and/or Kenku). Changelings could be fun since you could shape-shift and dupe your way past certain enemies (or just slip by in order to set up an ambush) by pretending to be of the same race or a member of their group. Such as turning into a Goblin here, or even taking the exact appearance of certain NPCs in order to set up "I'm the real NPC!" "No, I'M the real NPC!" while that NPC's friends/companions are confused as hell and don't know who to believe or how to find out. Minotaurs could function similarly to something like a Goliath, just with options for dealing damage even if they spend all of their actions that turn moving. Yuan-ti could have moments like convincing the snake Tessa to turn on her Kaesa (or whatever her name was), or duping otherwise hostile druids by simply shape-shifting into a Viper and tricking the Druids into thinking you were just an unusually large but still "natural" Viper. And Aarakocra could have unparalleled mobility (since they can fly) and would be able to ignore terrain hazards while flying (for obvious reasons) but they might have difficulties in dialogue challenges since they lack the usual "face" that others have (since they have a beak taking up most of their face) which could unsettle others since they wouldn't be able to "gauge" your disposition as easily due to your permanent lack of a facial expression.

Interesting to note, that goblin appears to be wearing an amulet that combines the black triangle of Myrkul, the skull of Bhaal, and the black hand of Bane, a group collectively known as the Dead Three. I'd put money on this 'Absolute' having to do with one, or more of them.

Read the Drizzt, Windwalker trilogy, & War of the Spider Queen novels. Those books give you a very close look at what Drow society is really like. But in general, not even family bonds matter to the Drow, and males are viewed as "expendable" compared to female Drow due to the matriarchal structure of Drow society (and Drow custom is that every third newborn male child is to be made a sacrifice to Lolth unless only one male noble child [if any!] is still alive), though if there is a choice between letting "slave fodder" die in battle and letting male Drow die, they will sacrifice the slave fodder since even male Drow are exceptionally skilled combatants. And the way Drow move up the Drow hierarchy is very simple: you "eliminate" the Drow above you and can then claim their now-vacated position. This is true both within Drow families (it's very common for sisters to murder sisters, brothers to murder brothers, mothers to murder daughters [and vice-versa], fathers to murder sons [and vice-versa]) and within all other aspects of Drow society. Drow also traffic and deal with Demons on a regular basis (this is even how Draegloths come into existence, they are the offspring of a Drow and a Glabrezu). Oh, and they also worship spiders, and it is viewed as blasphemy to ever kill a spider even by *accident* and doing so is very likely to get you tortured at best and executed at worst. And the Drow word for non-Drow is "Iblith"....which translates to "Offal", in other words they view all non-Drow as literal shit. Drow often enslave any non-Drow they capture....and slaves are either worked to death (likely along with being tortured purely as entertainment for the Drow) and used as expendable "fodder" soldiers whenever Drow go to war either with each other or with other races, and the Drow don't give a rat's ass about "collateral damage" when it comes to their "slave fodder". Drow are viewed with fear, mistrust, and hatred by other races (even the Duergar dwarves who regularly trade with the Drow) for a damn good reason. Though there *are* some good Drow out there, like Drizzt himself and the followers of Eilistraee. Liriel Baenre is another example of a Good-aligned Drow....albeit one with a distinct love of mischief, her interactions with her human friend Fyodor (a Rashemi Berserker) are really entertaining, especially with how much of her innocence remains intact despite spending much of her youth among other Drow in Menzoberranzan (the same city where Drizzt was born).

@@gamester512 well said. Just finished the Forgotten Realms novel ' the Dark Elf Trilogy ' by R A Salvatore. Drizzt D'ouren grows up in Menzobarrezan under the cruel Matron Malice and her cleric of Lloth daughters. The dynamics of Royal familys strife are as chaotic evil as thier Diety..All royals must die in the targeted family in one decisive strike to please Her and guarantee success / ascension in the ' pecking order ' of Royal families.. Lloth cares nothing for weaklings or losers..to Her, all males are but usefull tools, to be discarded/ destroyed when no longer useful.

Drow are a good deal more accepted in the current timeline because of the schism of Lolth, the founding of a temple of Eilistree in Waterdeep, House Margaster trading fairly openly with drow, Luskan being drow run being an open secret (and being SAVED FROM DEMONS by drow), and the kingdom of Gauntlgrym being a super valuable trading partner with everywhere except neverwinter on the Sword Coast (lord Neverember was rude to Bruener Battlehammer once) telling stories of the cocky bald drow with the wide brimmed hat and his dual-sword companion saving their city from greater demons that said, Drizzt still worries about someone just firing a crossbow at him from a rooftop in the bad part of waterdeep, and the best part of Baldur's gate is as dangerous than the worst part of Waterdeep

They use the Baldur's Gate name, yet the games has nothing to do with the previous games. They allow the players to choose the infamous races. The og Baldur's Gate games didn't have the option of creating a character with those races for a reason. It's a fan service design choice imo

The Dark Elf's reputation is well- deserved, primarily because of the chaotic evil Diety - Lloth, Queen of Spiders, Mistress of the DemonWeb Pits- that they worship and serve. Goblins are frequently kept as servants- but only as long as they ' show proper respect' and obey unquestioningly. A goblin that injures a spider - even accidentally - in the presence of a drow is a dead goblin..

In Forgotten Realms lore, Goblinos were Drow slaves. Most of them, especially in the Underdark were forced to do their Drow masters bidding. Goblins are dumb so they rather become minions and respect to those they find very intimidating and powerful.

Goblins are the slaves of Drow in the lore.

Goblins are race that is easly controlled with violence and Drow are known as extremly brutal. Drow are kill on sight, they wouldnt hesitate to kill or enslave you. Those Goblins know this and dont want any trouble. In this situation i think that there were more drows around. Some Goblins mention that the other Drows moved on and only Minthara stayed.

@@rayroystrickland Oh yes they are hated and feared. Normaly Drow only emerge from the Underdark to capture slaves. They are known as masters of torture, fanatical loyal to their goddess and excellent warriors. In BG3 you can expect adversity! Im playing right now an evil Drow and there are a lot of hints that people just tolerate you because of the circumstances. Zevlor even says that you should be carefull with your "heritage". Im pretty sure thats some foreshawdoing and a way to tell the player to buy an disguise kit.

Because it doesn't make any sense, If you have full sentences written in the dialog tree people generally skip character speaking sequence since it is just waste of time to read /hear twice the same thing, making full voice acting is waste of money here. It makes sense only in "modern" rpgs like fallout or mass effect where you choose only simplified answer from dialog tree and then actually hear what the character has to say.

The game looks amazing, but the first voice actor is terrible. She sounds like she doing story time at the local library for preschoolers.

Is there any reason why every race in this game is basically just a human with a different skin tone and longer ears? They're so bland.

Because they used face scans of real people for most of the characters except for the githyanki, I imagine.

It's perfect for a fantasy setting, which its beyond the real world. Literaly every session anyone does is done with these voice acting, and they're done amazingly and are fitting to their respective characters. Otherwise it would've been just monotone all the time, no flavor at all.
