This is why I refused to pay $400 to see Kiss in Sydney. This segment of the show with all those screens of the other 'Gene's' is the smoke and mirrors attempting to hide the 100% lip syncing. The audio is identical at all concerts. Sad to see this sort of cheating going on, very poor way to go out on top.

The band's entire legacy was created via building an army of superfans who discovered they were surprisingly competent musicians and somewhat intelligent, well-spoken people underneath the makeup, costumes, and stage show - aggressively demanding radio stations to play their material after the industry had largely dismissed them. Those same fans, who have in some cases followed them for decades and spent thousands on merch and tickets, are now discovering, as the band rides off into the sunset, that they are pathological liars. While it sucks to see, I appreciate The Fonz doing this. This was my dad's favorite band dating back to 1977. This was my favorite band since I was a child; Revenge was the first album I was able to listen to from front to back, and understand why and how music could be a big deal to a lot of people. I picked up a guitar because of Alive III. Seeing this flat out sucks, but sunlight is often the best disinfectant.

a very important part of this is setting the style for younger generations. They should see LIVE music and not Playback shows. It will eventually become the Norm. LIVE music or not at all. Yes I am aware many bands use backing tracks but only when it is needed. Singing is not one of these backing tracks and especially when you are fronting a band......whats the fookin point ? this is so sad. if you were born the same year as the reunion tour, you are 26 now. this is more than double the amount of time between Kiss' first album and the nostalgic reunion. the original Kiss reunion tour is almost as close in time to the moon landing, 27 years, than the reunion tour is from now. if you go by the time when the reunion tour first began to be a possibility, the Unplugged album, it is exactly the same and it will be longer when they do the inevitable 50th anniversary tour. they have been stuck in the 1970's since the 1990's. Simmons' dedication to the white English blue rock of the 1960's is sad. Kiss no longer sing in their real voices. they do not show us what a real concert sounds like without all the audio assistance. because they have nothing without it. they are hypocrites. the songs have never changed, the setlist has never changed, and the product has never changed. this is okay for a lot of brands that have loyal customers. but for Kiss, the product is an aging band that has played itself out of relevance and out of nostalgia. unlike Coca-Cola, they can't make the same product from a factory year after year. the brand loyalty runs out when a generation ages out of their leather pants and they have to plan their attendance to a Kiss concert instead of just go to it. what is this? who is this? it is cosplaying from old men who should stop charging money to see it.

I'm not disagreeing that this is lip synched. I know Paul is definitely using tracks, and Gene is on God of Thunder, but is Gene lip syncing all of his songs? I've heard Gene sing live recently and he still has a voice. My point is, I think he has to use a track on God of Thunder in order to keep all of the faces on the video monitors in sync with the song, otherwise it would look like a dubbed kung fu film.

Photoguy, it's true that Gene has a Very good voice still. He's lost very little, if any, through the years. And while you DO have a point, with the faces on the screen, one would think he would stay as far away from lip syncing allegations as possible. The faces aren't really a great effect anyway. But this goes on..... They are touring......the money is good.....adding shows to the tour.....their legacy is set or ignored. At least to the current casual concert supporting fan. And "those" fans... would pay to see them....... pay big bucks, if the setlist "ONLY" contained songs from Sonic Boom and Monster. I love this song and I saw KISS in my city. I thought the performance was amazing. But you can't deny the evidence, it's clear as day it was a fake performance. It's such a shame the man who inspired me to become a bassist is lip syncing on one of the most iconic songs. You can't defend this, you can't say it's not lip syncing. It definitely is. If they are lipsynching (and based on the video it's hard to suggest otherwise) why are they being so selective as to when they do it? Is it at certain points of the show to enable the guys to catch a breathe and to preserve their voices? Let's face it nobody of that era sounds like they used to.... I mean has anybody heard Jon Bon Jovi recently? I mean that guy should lipsynch! I mention this because I was at the 1st Sydney show a couple of weeks back and about 10 metres from the stage in front of Gene and during the 1st verse of Shout It Out Loud he completely screwed up the first verse... he just jibbered something haha... which considering they have played that song thousands of times it's hard to imagine he forgot the lyrics... but certainly there was no cover up nor hint of lip syncing and immediately afterwards he motioned side stage pointing to his monitor below him which we all know feeds the lyrics. So whilst I'm not going to deny it happens I'm perplexed as to the reason behind why it appears to happen at certain stages of the show... regardless I paid $300 plus for my ticket and would do it over again... the fact that these guys are in their 70's and can still put on an amazing show blows me away... and if they need to lipsynch a little on the way I don't really care... but that's just me.

Paul does it because he can’t sing anymore. Gene does it on GOT to match up with the video on the pods and to give himself a rest I guess. This is the problem, once you start on the slippery slope of faking stuff it’s so easy to keep adding more and more faked stuff. Guarantee that if they do another leg of the tour for another few years there will be more faked stuff added.

You could probably do the exact same type of video (I suggest you try it) from the 1997-2000 shows. Every vocal performance will sound identical. Its a super simple vocal melody that has been performed probably about 1000 times the same way every show. Id assume the need for 2 mics are because of the vocal effects during the bridge. Pretty simple stuff. Do you have any background in live audio? There's no denying Pauls lip syncing BS over the years and the back tracks, but this is a bit of a strech.

What's the current story, when it comes to the backing track usage: Just Paul's vocals? - Does Gene still lip "God Of Thunder"? - Also, is it true that some of the instruments are tracked, too? - My buddy SWEARS that, back in March 2019, he heard Gene's bass while he clearly wasn't playing it. My buddy also thinks he heard Paul's guitar, too, when HE wasn't playing either.

I’ve yet to see any evidence of faking the instruments, apart from Eric’s fake piano. Gene still fakes GOT, Paul still fakes almost everything. Sometimes people who don’t play guitars will see something like Gene playing open strings with his out hand not on the fretboard and get confused. Paul also does a lot of hammer-on playing without strumming the strings.
