You should watch "Gene Simmons Family Jewels" it's a reality show he did 10+ yrs ago. Its him and Shannon and Nick and Sophie. The kids were just teenagers. You'll see a side of him most wouldn't believe. He's grateful for his life and his family. Its probably on youtube.

@@cindycassellgilbert5404 Yes, I watched Family Jewels. He is not a mean man at all like his Kiss Costume portrays, which is kind of scary. He was a gentle giant on that show with Shannon and a super protective father with Nick and Sophie. Now he and Shannon are married and the 2 of them could possibly be waiting to see marriages and grandchildren. He's a very smart man who came to the US only with his mother and couldnt speak English. Look where he landed..a wealthy rock star and a loving family. That show should be aired again. It was funny and touching at the same time. My son and his cousin, both now 52 are still die-hard KISS fans. Paul Stanley is also a real personable down to earth guy. A few weeks ago the Kiss story was aired and narrated only between Gene and Paul..very interesting.

Sorry but it seems people like us that believe this are fighting a losing battle. My daughter about a decade or so ago was sent home from school for wearing one of my t-shirts for some sort of dress down day or something like that because it had a American flag on it and it evidently according to the principal made others “feel uncomfortable”. I asked what flags are allowed and was told any except that one. America used to be strong growing up in the 70’s and 80’s. I can tell you were getting weaker by the day.

It angers me to know and when these young people talk about how they hate this country so much. They have been taught at a young age that America is a horrible racist place but they have no idea just how good we have it here. When I was growing up there was an elderly couple that lived next door to my parent’s house way back in the early 80s. I barely remember them I was just a kid in elementary school but I remember he had a tattoo on his arm. I didn’t know what it was or what it meant and he rarely if ever spoke of his experiences except with my father but later in life long after he passed away my father explained to me that the tattoo was the way the Nazis numbered the prisoners and kept track of them in the concentration camps. My neighbor was a successful businessman and had a nice house and always had two new cars in the driveway and I always told my father how much he loved America and the greatest day of his life was the day the camps were liberated by the American forces. The young people of today definitely need to be educated in history and understand the atrocities that were overcome as well as the blood spilled in order for us to have the freedoms we have today.

I recently moved from Minnesota to Florida, so I had to hire a trucking company to bring all my stuff down. The driver of the truck was a 40 year old guy from Belarus. He lived his first 20 years there and actually got 2 degrees from a college in Belarus. One in engineering and I can’t remember the other one. He said that NYU wanted him to come over and play basketball and then he was hoping to play semi pro basketball after that, but instead he ended up in the moving business and started to make quite a bit of money and he’s been doing that ever since. Now he owns his own tractor and owns his own franchise and I’d bet he does quite well financially. But, anyway it was interesting to hear him talk about what it was like living in a Communist country. It was horrible. The USA was like heaven once he got here. All these idiot college kids who think that communism and socialism is so great and capitalism is evil really should go spend a year living in one of those countries. I think they’d come back with a different point of view.

Gene Simmons America's Greatest Hero? I dunno, are you quoting him? What I do know about him are two things 1) His mother is certainly qualified for the title. 2) Based upon every radio spot, television appearance and printed word I've ever known regarding this man, Gene Simmons is half self aggrandizing gas bag and half circus sideshow huckster and conman the calibre of which would make PT Barnum blush. His musical abilities consist of a rudimentary knowledge and demonstration of 3 chords, all poorly played with he himself as his biggest admirer and #1 fan. Unhindered by creativity nor talent, he represents the Donald Trump of bass players. He knew which heartstrings to play speaking to a room of Pentagon somebodies or other. Squeezing out a tear for dear Mom. I'm half suprised there wasn't a stagehand in the wings to hand him Kleenex tissues on cue...

Gene’s a guy who grew aware of the importance of his own duality and incorporated it to make others feel genuinely excited to be alive. Gene’s a monster of a guy, but he’s also a regular person, and he’s a kid too - just like all of us. Some people can’t accept the monster within so it comes up in destructive ways. People lke Gene channel it & put it to work for others. A lovely story from Gene about his mother’s appreciation for the freedom from the repressed inner monsters of the world she came here from.

Everyone wants to be here but they bring their problems with them. We are catering to the lowest common denominator instead expecting the best of our people. If America is no longer what it used to be its because it's citizens are no longer capable of making the tough decisions that need to be made. That being said we are still one of the most free nations on the planet and anyone who comes here still has a far better chance of a better life than if they stay where they are. So do I . My grandmother had to leave my father at 8 years old with a Marine officer at GITMO. My dad spent a week with the Marines until catholic Charities and the Peter Pan project got him to the US . My dad said the Marines would play baseball with the Cuban kids . My dad learned to live Elvis because they played it in the base . When I turned 17 I enlisted in the Marines . I owe this country my family’s freedom . Dint ever be ashamed to say GOD bless America

He now understands, and as an older man has seen the price of what happens to a country that no longer stands for the values that made us the promised land. A place where anyone can work hard, create their own future, and be free to rise as high as they dream and work. A place where we defend our freedom, because they are so precious, and if we don't we become just another country in the winds of history.

@BKD Vickers We the older generation are not teaching the younger generation that WE have to defend OUR FREEDOMS or the Government will take them and make them a privilege instead of keeping them RIGHTS. . . It's our fault really. The founding fathers said we have to overthrow the Government when they get this dangerous and jeopardize America's Survival. But we have allowed the Government to make it illegal for us to do that.

Gene's story about his Mom brought my friend's Mom to mind. When I was in elementary school back in the early 60's, she told me that as a young girl during WW II, she spent nights in the London subways with thousands of others as the German V-2s came reigning down upon them. She married a US soldier and became a citizen when they moved to America. She loved this country and I remember her telling me that all those "demonstrators" that took to the streets in the 60's had no idea what they were doing because they had never lived elsewhere. They had no idea how great we had it.

many demonstrated against the viet nam war and thus helped to end it. take your head out of your ass. the USA is one place where you can make your thoughts known..."we the people" and bring about change. your friend's mother was not seeing the whole story, she didn't really understand. that happens sometimes.

@@charazarz9280 I honestly think that while stuff like the Vietnam War and such weren't needed and went on for too long, I think that even those protesters and such back then were morons. They had no idea how good they had it. And the same can be said for all these leftist SJW morons today. They have no idea how good they've got it. In many other countries around the world, such as China or Benezuela, which they try to celebrate, they'd be getting shot for if they protested, but they try to pretend that things would be SOOO much better if the America became a communist or socialist shit hole as well.
