I loved the game too, but I was disappointed in just Ragnarok, but what it ended up being. My theory that I had for the battle of Ragnarok was that it didnt happen nor happened, but was happening throughout the events of 2018 and the battle was taking place somewhere outside of time and that the plot would be based off of us stopping the fighting between realms and focusing the fight on Odin. Because Odin's plan (in my mind at the time) was to delay the killing blow to a point where he could block it by eliminating the forces of Ragnarok after they were weakened by fighting each other.

the ragnarok war is super fun with a lot of game mechanics that remind me of the greek games we have fenrir eating dragons, quite a lot of explosions in the war like an action movie thor and the serpent fighting in the background looks spectacular, dragons throwing fire at you the fight of Thor and Odin that have incredible mechanics are not repetitive like those of Baldur, an amazing soundtrack in the background quite a few sub-bosses with which the warriors of Asgard fight, lightning monsters you even see the elves fly and at the same time you look at the armies from Helheim on ships to Ragnarok destroying Asgard its final design seems to me the most appropriate, it is even the largest of all the Ragnarok designs, I don't know why they say it is disappointing, the truth is that I doubt very much that war is better in conceptual arts just because there are saturated monsters you can imagine many things that sound nice written on paper but when you try to translate them into games or movies you realize the limits it is impossible to do those things and less with how expensive it is to make these games 200 million in this The game is crazy to do mammoth things, it's expensive, not for a reason the intro of God of War 3 lasts 15 minutes, apart from that it was easier to do those things since they were less complex to do that are limited to cinematics, not like now what to do with Fenrir with realistic textures it costs more than a month and it becomes worse when you adapt it to the gameplay you have to study for a long time how to make it work well, it literally seems that people only like to watch cinematics with explosions and they don't like to play literally you have a Nordic world with so much history to explore and beautiful realistic settings full of life and gigantic with many secrets full of bosses God of war Ragnarok is a game in the saga with more bosses without a doubt a war with spectacular gameplay and two final bosses with mechanics very good NOT everything has to be great to impress believe me the war of the conceptual arts would be shorter and it would be a horrible side you would barely appreciate what happens around you better value the mechanics and stop overvaluing the big things that limit a good gameplay quite a bit.

Also, I really like the 3rd design for Odin, and I REALLY WISH we got the cut designs for Skoll and Hati, they are way better than what we got. Maybe that's why he helped us all that time? You never know, the same with the black smoke, it appeared out of nowhere, or the heart of Helheim theme, it's just a necessary resource to give the best fanservice in the game, or the worst, making Kratos an idiot on purpose so that there is more game, you know what I mean, Kratos knew that Baldur was immortal, and crashing him into the last known bridge towards Jotunheim was stupid, as if he suddenly didn't care about not fulfilling his wife's wish, it makes no SENSE. The black smoke could easily have been a defense to keep intruders out of the mountain which I think Freya implied if I am not mistaken. 2018 had us waiting and anticipating Raganarok for almost 5 years and we waiting to know who blew the horn and the arrival of Thor. It was perfect in a sense because we were all invested in what happens next but unfortunately Ragnarok didn’t deliver and now I cannot even play 2018 anymore because Ragnarok didn’t answer anything from 2018. @@GRUSTLER Yes I understand it but it is strange that it is something that the game does not answer considering that they answered even the reason why Baldur was following them in the first place and that he had confused Kratos with Faye, I mean everything that had to do with interactions of characters was pretty well handled, except for that. Maybe she knew it thanks to the real Tyr and he only told her the basics, but it is something that is never clarified, even more so with Ragnarok since Kratos told her about Deimos and his daughter, things that due to her reaction in that game, She didn't know, and from what she said in 2018 "I know enough, what about him?" What I no longer agree with is your comment about rage, the 2018 Kratos, despite continuing to have that anger that gets more out of control, the game made it clear from the beginning that this was something that the character was trying to improve , and it was shown how things that mattered to the character were the perfect remedy to dispel that anger, like when Kratos realizes that his son fell ill, the anger disappears very quickly, and this would be the second time in which he would fail him. a wife of his, simply with the intention that the character had in this installment, and as they made it clear from the funeral that Faye had a great impact on Kratos's life, it simply does not make sense to me, even more so with the cinematics where she go. to both in Ragnarok, which were scenes that occurred even before the 2018 game, it's as if Kratos had agreed to fail a loved one again in order to... throw an immortal idiot against a bridge, which you know he wouldn't Will it hurt him with that and you will also fail AGAIN to a loved one of yours? I don't know. And I also know that Ragnarok did not answer all the questions we had, but it did answer many, many in fact were answered in the infamous iron forest area, I do not agree so much with that the Nordic saga had to be a trilogy Because the truth is I really liked the final result, and also because I know that we will see it again in the future, but I partly understand your discontent about the horn, but they did answer many questions, friend.

Do you guys think we could possibly get a extended cut for at least the ragnorok sequence? Sort of like mass effect 3 except we don’t need to change the ending, just let us experience more scale and set pieces and a grandiose experience because I just really am torn that the rest of the game was perfect (besides sheild combat and sense of kratos scale, feats, etc) and then ragnorok just feels ok at best. The problem is I feel people are too scared to say the game had its flaws near endgame, so the directors would not be inclined to make changes. Also I feel the dip in quality near the end was due to them rushing to finish the game before game of the year.

@martinc89655 ай бұрын
More or less, I will always think that with what they had on the table they could have given something more spectacular, but still for me there are memorable scenes in that 1 hour war, the speech before the fight, the moment where Kratos changes the prophecy . "open your heart" Atreus mastering his transformation into a bear, and the final fight against Thor and Odin, if I want to fight dragons I face the dragons of Asgard that were in the crater and that's it, they are still linked to Asgard ( since we saw them from behind when Atreus first arrived at the place) and unlike the trolls in the previous game before the final fight against Baldur, here it was much more varied, Garm, Heimdall, and Hrist and Mist. And yet the final fight against Thor and Odin is pretty good. And if you want to kill another god, there is Gná, I repeat, I still think that they could have offered more spectacle, but personally it's just that, because the truth is with everything I mentioned, I am very satisfied, practically since the battle against Heimdall onwards, everything you fight are allies of Odin. Ok, you don't face them in "Ragnarok" as such, but they are allies of Odin, even the raven keeper.
@BiggieJ42245 ай бұрын
@@martinc8965 I agree that there are still memorable moments in the ragnorok sequence, I just feel like even though those moments were great, you have to wonder if what we got was justified for the amount of build up to it. Think about the first game, everyone in that universe was hyping up ragnorok, Thor, Odin. It was clear that when the ragnorok game eventually came around, we had hoped that the devs would capitalize on all those statements about how massive and grand the battle of ragnorok would be, on the same scale as the fall of Olympus. And then when ragnorok came out the first 2 thirds of the game had this inevitable feeling to it where everyone was saying how Odin was preparing for war, you could see all of the set ups for things like the elves and surtr. And I just feel like all of that build up should’ve went out with a bigger bang. If we pretended that the new god of war series was actually just one game in each mythology, I’d say if we had got the ragnorok we got but in only one game then I would be satisfied. Like imagine if all the build up of thanos in the marvel movies all culminated into a fight that is maybe like 10 minutes longer than the average finale fight and the heroes won right there. That’s what it felt for me here but that’s just my two cents
@martinc89655 ай бұрын
@@BiggieJ4224 They weren't hyping it, from our point of view yes, but from the point of view of the characters everyone wanted that NOT to happen, Freya married Odin partly for that reason, to avoid Ragnarok, Mimir had the same intentions with that, to bring peace with that wedding to avoid Ragnarok, the dwarves were also worried, more than anything Sindri, what can be assumed is that in this game (Ragnarok) they used the theme of the sanctuaries and their secret stories to justify the change of scale that perhaps the battle of Ragnarok would have, and I say perhaps because in part it was the idea of the director of the first game to make the Norse saga in 2 games, because in the first game the characters thought that Ragnarok was the end of the 9 realms, but in Ragnarok it is known that ONLY Asgard would be destroyed BY the other realms. I understand the Thanos example but it's not very appropriate in my humble opinion, since the Thanos they face in End Game will be "the same" person but in reality it doesn't feel that way, the Thanos that really mattered or called more attention was the Thanos they kill at the beginning of that movie, the one who lived through everything in Infinity War, and the character got that far, the most memorable thing was beating Thor and Hulk at the beginning, then he had his fight against everyone on Titan, then a little fight in Wakanda, he almost died because of Thor and achieved his goal and then basically died. Much of the action was due to his subordinates, and the same thing happened with Odin, because that's how the character is, he sends all his children first, and other innocent creatures or those the character manages to turn against the protagonists as well as other allies as happened with the Valkyries, Garm, Hrist and Mist and Nidhogg, they are all basically his tools to solve his problems and when they don't succeed, only THERE Odin acts, something that was noticed from the first game with Magni, Modi and especially Baldur. I still understand your discontent because again, I will always think that the final war could have been more spectacular, but the way they carry out Ragnarok in this game (not only the part of Ragnarok which is the final battle) but also everything that the end of it implied and how the secondary missions also attempt to destroy all the realms I really liked, avoiding the end of the world from different threats like the children of Nidhogg or the growth of the world tree itself or how thanks to Valhalla we can see on a small scale how the part of Ragnarok is carried out where it is basically the new beginning for Norse mythology according to what Sigrun was telling us, and all thanks to our help and actions. It gives a lot of weight to the final image of the mural where Kratos is seen being respected for that.

Honestly, as unlikely as this may sound, if they add New Game + I hope they restore some of the cut content of Sinmara and Nifilheim because I was honestly dissapointed by how small that realm was compared to the other realms in the game far as open world goes. It also frustrated me that it doesn't let you go back and explore the areas Atreus and Thor explored once you play as Kratos and Freya again because the temple ruins seem like they had some background I would've liked to see explored. The corpse of Auðumbla also would've also made a perfect boss fight arena. I'm not keen on the idea that Surtr's sacrifice was in vein and Kratos and Atreus have to seek out Sinmara anyway but I would've loved if they kept her as a boss fight in the post-game missions, blaming Kratos for Surtr's death and demonstrating how the Post-Ragnarok world will still have threats.

Something inside me keep telling me that Sinmara was cut from game due to inner reasons. Maybe actress declined contract or something else. With cut quests and cutscenes transcriptions people found, Sinmara got cut super-late in developement which affected final story perception a lot - this could've a bit better explained Ragnarok's design choice to be less of bearded man, depth of "close your heart" and also give people post-game pafos when Kratos say he will deal with Ragnarok himself if there smallest chance it manages to return (see videos about cut Sinmara quest, they are pretty interesting). I'd say this GoW turned out very tame in veeeery many places (not "boring" tame, i mean in way of "they put it on leash and holding it too tight in moments"), even compared to 2018 installation, game keep making you feel "damn, they did not put enough tiiiny squeeze on". Sure not without epic moments, but for a "realms at war" idea everything that is related to main event is lacking i'd say. As much as i love it, i think this is not the "best" iteration of scenario this game could've get.

@matthewgabriele206 Жыл бұрын
Yea I hated that the mask was just some random bullshit ya know? Like in 2018, Odins motivation was tangible in the last game. His goal was to learn what the giants knew about the future and also destroy them since it was prophesy that their army would destroy him at ragnarok. His goal was to find a way to jotunheim since that’s where the remaining giants were as far as he knew. That was the whole point of Baldur, Odin sent him to find the last guardian of the giants in Midgard since she would have known the way to jotunheim. He met Kratos instead of course. Odin however completely drops his interest in jotunheim for some reason despite the fact that baldur died for that and the jotunheim tower had returned to the lake of nine and Odin had a way to get there now. Odin could have used Tyrs eyes to open the gate to look around and find information. He doesn’t for some reason and starts instead to focus on some bullshit mask that doesn’t exist in the mythology and the characters themselves say isn’t even from the nine realms but somehow got destroyed and scattered throughout the nine realms with writing on it to lead them to each of the pieces for some god damn reason. It was pretty dumb and I hated the fact that it was the major plot device that moved the story forward. So Odin basically had a tangible motivation in the last game where he didn’t even make an appearance but in this game, his motivation is made up bullshit.
