Should've mention that Baldur is consider the norse god of light, joy, and pleasure. This makes the idea that his mother removed his feeling of... well anything really impactful towards the character.

U R Sooo 💯👍! However, in The God of War franchise the gods are view as villains!! From Legendary Heroes like Hercules, Helios, Hermes ,Athena & especially Zeus are bad guys. The Aseir Gods Odin Thor & Baldur are bad 👎 & Loki is good / innocent. In The God of War franchise.

And when his mother removed all that feeling from his body and made him completely numb to any feeling at all(pain, pleasure and taste), that drove him completely insane and he’d come from being a benevolent and joyous character to being a malevolent insane narcissist. Anyone would go insane from that.

Have you realised that Baldur's journey in the game the game is the opposite of Kratos? Kratos is cursed by the gods and must serve them to end his curse. Baldur must serve Odin to end his blessing. Kratos is the son of the king of the gods, and so is Baldur. Kratos was killed by his father and swears vengence. Baldur was given immortality by his mother and swears vengence. Kratos caused the twighlight of the greek gods after his death. The death of baldur causes the twighlight of the norse gods

I love how Baldur is basically a parallel to Kratos past self; a young and violent man, bent on revenge and won’t stop till he killed his godly parent. So when Kratos saying “the cycle ends here, we must be better than this,” before killing someone similar to him, he also killed his past self symbolically.

I think it's very possible Odin knew how to remove Baldurs 'curse' but just didn't want to to as him being virtually indestructible would better serve the all father's plans. Why I believe Odin likely knew is because Mimir his chief advisor at the time knew but as we recall when Freya revived his head she put a spell on him so he couldn't reveal it.

Huh, I hadn’t realized that Baldur’s comments to Kratos at the start of the game came from the perspective that Kratos was a Jötunn. Baldur is really missed in the Ragnarok sequel, like I loved that he is gone as our final obstacle in the first game but I just didn't enjoy any of the fights of villains in Ragnarok as much as Baldur, he was so slimy but also tough as nails and felt like such a threat, anytime he was in a scene or battle you just got that do or die feeling. Great job to the devs with him, and again I just wish another character would have been able to give me something close to that in Ragnarok. I always had this idea in my mind that if Baldur is this crazy and over the top what will Thor and Odin be like...well that's all I'll say don't want to spoil the new game for anyone not caught up. Love the content. Cheers

I wish Baldur walked away once he was freed from his curse. I love Freya but it really is a curse. She did it out of love but it was such an overreach and created the monster he became. His likeness to his father Odin I dont think is what made him into the deranged lunatic he became, it was living for so long with no feeling in any aspect while never fearing death. He craved any sort of feeling even if it meant dying. He didnt have to make amends with his mother or even forgive her but just walk away and life the rest of his life being able to feel again. I knew he wasnt going to let it go though, I wish he did but he hated what his mother did to him. I didnt want her to die either though and I think Kratos made the right decision to kill Baldur in order to protect Freya. I never played the ones before this but watching a channel play it got me really into learning more. I found your video on Kratos and after watching that and playing the game its ashame that I hadnt gotten any of the previous games. The storytelling is amazing and the characters are so complex, the fighting in this game was also so fun and the world was beautiful! Seeing the absolute size of the world serpent amazed me and one of my favorite moments was when Atreus called to him for help. Thank you for helping introduce me to this series because it absolutely deserves all the praise it gets!

Also, in mythology Baldur's actual name is Balder, and is killed by a blind God. So in mythology, it is true that Baldur is unkillable and can't fell pain, and it's also true that the mistletoe breaks the spell. You might ask, "why mistletoe?". Well, in mythology, Gods learn that he will die soon. So, Freya tells every single animal, human and plant to not hurt Baldur. Except for mistletoe, she forgets to tell the mistletoe. One day, the Gods know Baldur is unkillable, so they use him for target practice. When Loki hears that Baldur is immortal, he tries to find his weakness because Loki is a bad God in mythology. Then, he hears from Freya that Baldur's weakness in mistletoe. So then, after Loki finds a mistletoe, he gives it to a blind God, then makes him shoot the arrow attached to mistletoe Baldur (the blind God doesn't know the mistletoe was attached to the arrow). Then, Baldur dies, then Loki is punished for eternity.

Ehh, not sure if you'll ever read this comment but, since i like your videos alot i think you deserve to be reminded that ur claim at the end of the video is inaccurate, as Baldur talks about how ¨Kratos' kind is supposed to be so much better, smarter, enlightened¨, this is referring to the Gods of Olympus, so yes Baldur does know what Kratos is and Odin most likely told him.

If it's anything like Greek gods, their visual age of these gods don't matter, they could probably change their looks via magic. Zeus is younger than Poseidon & Hades...

the tale in god of war is not accurate for shit on this character, balder is most known for his death in the Edda prosa. a death wich both balder and his mother frigg(freya) dreamed about(and dreams were known to be prophetic)in fear of balders death frigg made everything on earth vow to never hurt balder, except mistletoe, loki found out this secret later on and fashioned a spear of this plant(later re-written to be an arrow) witch he used to trick balders brother Hoder(hod/Hodur) to kill balder with the only thing god of war got right about balder was that freya/frigg was his mother

While in older Germanic mythology Frigg/Freya were probably one thing, in Norse mythology they were distinctly different dieties. One of them is Áss and other Vanr, they are associated with different things, functions.

Man that sucks I hate having a requirement to watch a vid I don’t have time for this but I have a question I was wondering if someone could clear it up for me ? So he said share this video with everybody I know so like do I send it to the whole contacts? Cuz I have to be honest here my gram doesn’t even know what a kratos is and has never heard of the game ever so do I send it to her because I know her? Or is it only prevalent to the people that know God of war that I know??? Shit I could send it but if she also has to send it to everybody she knows too then she just might kill me!?

I believe what we played in 2018, was in the past. Remember when Mimir said that the serpent had said that Atreus looks familiar? He’s met Atreus of the future already. This new one I think will have a lot too do with time travel. Can’t wait

Interesting that in this universe Baldur is the son of Odin and Freya, where as in Norse myth he is the son of Odin and Frigg.

@@lordmuhehe4605 So there are beliefs that they are connected in some way, but in some instances in Old Norse poems they are mentioned separately. Such as this description of a verse. In the poem Lokasenna, where Loki accuses nearly every female in attendance of promiscuity or unfaithfulness, an aggressive exchange occurs between Loki and Freyja. The introduction to the poem notes that among other gods and goddesses, Freyja attends a celebration held by Ægir. In verse, after Loki has flyted with the goddess Frigg, Freyja interjects, telling Loki that he is insane for dredging up his terrible deeds, and that Frigg knows the fate of everyone, though she does not tell it. Loki tells her to be silent, and says that he knows all about her-that Freyja is not lacking in blame, for each of the gods and elves in the hall have been her lover. Freyja objects. She says that Loki is lying, that he is just looking to blather about misdeeds, and since the gods and goddesses are furious at him, he can expect to go home defeated. Loki tells Freyja to be silent, calls her a malicious witch, and conjures a scenario where Freyja was once astride her brother when all of the gods, laughing, surprised the two. Njörðr interjects-he says that a woman having a lover other than her husband is harmless, and he points out that Loki has borne children, and calls Loki a pervert. There exists information about both, Freyja has a brother named Freyr, Frigg doesn't. Frigg and Freyja's father have different names, and they both have different cities/realms they reside in. There have been scholars that believe they are the same person due to them having a lot in common, and in the Old Germanic myths they may have been the same person, but it seems in Norse myth they are separate Goddesses.
