East Hastings is an OST for "28 days later" actually, so technically their music used in some films.

Godspeed is probably my favorite band of all time, glad you're really liking them too!!! my personal favorite album is Yanqui UXO, but that album is definitely one of the most divisive among fans as far as how it compares to their others

Idk if this was mentioned already but the title comes from the vinyl release, where the final track has a locked groove that plays the F#A# chord indefinitely

this album is so damn good. the poem in the first track is hauntingly beautiful. Also pretty sure one of these tracks is used at the beginning of 28 Days Later!

Just commenting to say how based you are for recognizing how incredible both SFTB and EP+6 are. I really don’t see that many people appreciate both of them together but they’re each near and dead to my heart for different reasons. Nice.

I saw them live in May earlier this year and for the final song of the set they played the sad mafioso (the main movement of east Hastings) and it was the single loudest and most intense thing I’ve ever heard in my life. At the end of the song they looped their guitars and walked off stage, leaving a blaring wall of sound that must’ve peaked at at least 120 dB. It was an unforgettable experience and am seeing them twice more in November

There's another group called Silver Mt. Zion that was founded by the one of the Godspeed members (and a couple others play in it as well) that is a phenomenal group in my opinion. My fave album of theirs is "He Has Left Us Alone but Shafts of Light Sometimes Grace the Corner of Our Rooms..." I'd love a reaction but I don't know how many views it'd get. At the very least you should check them out though!!

Spotify version is the CD version which is longer, the other is the vinyl version - shorter. Both are excellent, but they're edited differently. I prefer the longer CD version. I think it's the definitive version of this album. I have both versions, vinyl and CD - the packaging for the vinyl version is absolutely stunning - worth getting just to see the packaging alone. Try to see them live. One of the most beautiful bands I've ever experienced live. Seen them twice so far, once a few years ago, the other a few weeks ago. They're so good that I'm visiting a friend in Sweden in the coming April as they're playing there, just to see them.

I'd love to watch you reacting to Swans after GY!BE, particularly Soundtracks for the Blind. Although it may be a long listen - it's definitely worth it. Anyway, to finish reacting to GY!BE I recommend Slow Riot for New Zerø Kanada E.P. (Moya is arguably the best GY!BE track) or Yanqui U.X.O. Great reaction btw, I really love how you feel the music and how you approach these albums like GY!BE's or Have a Nice Life's. You pay attention to the details and simultaneously you're not overthinking stuff, just allowing yourself to let it run through you. For my future recommendations I'd also love to see you listening to ISIS (a bit unfortunate name nowadays). Oceanic or Panopticon, doesn't matter to me. It may be a whole different genre but the thing that links them to these right here is putting massive focus on the atmosphere. Take care bro, thanks for the experience you're sharing with us. It makes me smile - to see another person enjoying music that we love, to see 'that something' in their eyes sparking up when hearing it for the first time. For me it's like reliving it once again through you. Much love. ps. Xylophone is a little bit different. What you had in mind is glockenspiel. A lot smaller usually and the main difference is that it is metal. Xylophone is wooden, produces softer sound. ps2. I'll just leave it here. If you ever wanted more check Silver Mt. Zion (kinda GY!BE's side project) and Set Fire To Flames.

Oh yeah this a different vibe, I don't know if It's me but this album makes me sleepy in a good way, and at the end I always "wake up" like I've been on a weird trip or something(but yeah they certainly can build a great imagery with their sound) On a side note maybe I'll go to watch them live next month again cause they're coming to Italy again the first time I've heard them live they did east hastings live that was insane This album has some of the best drone moments I've heard in general especially the third track that has more focus on that, it's like something out of David Lynch's movie or something(13:23 with the mosquito too at the end of east hastings too is like something out of a weird dream) It's definitely the most atmospheric one and maybe the one that needs more listens but inthe context of the album it's the best way to complete the experience The end of providence is unexpected and f amazing

If you wanted to dive more into the post rock genre, Mono is where it’s at. I recommend their album For My Parents. It’s less experimental than GSYBE, and more orchestral but it’s one of the most moving albums I’ve ever heard.

Hey Snowy, I think my comment got removed by youtube for being too lengthy. I like your videos, you put much effort, keep going! Godspeed has a vivid and very complex Discography with many other sub-bands from the main band, said Godspeed. Recently the first few tracks of Godspeed were found and they are before F#A#∞. Quite old I must say. F#A#∞ being one of the first albums of Godspeed, I really love it. Treasuring it to the fullest, listening to it on the trains. I recommend listening to Sings Reign Rebuilder, it is by members of Godspeed and it really captures the little moments of F#A#∞. Happy listening :D

You’re in for a treat if you get this on vinyl. The track listing is different and some of the movements/drone and ambient sections are switched around. Sadly the first crescendo of Providence isn’t included but there is a bonus section that is only on the vinyl release! And the record comes with a squished penny among other treats!
@ChristopherTheBanana Жыл бұрын
The squished penny totally caught me off guard. such a great little memento for a wonderful album

For those who don’t know, this is the cd version that has 3 songs, the “original” versión is the album, that has 2 songs, the first song starts with the cord F (the dead flag blues) and the second song starts with the chord “A” (East Hastings) and ends with an infinite loop (where are you going from providence) and that’s why its call F#A#Infinite
@azrael54932 жыл бұрын
Hey Snowy, I know it's a tall ask with your upload schedule but you really need to listen to the album The Salmon of Doubt by Coin Locker Kid. It seems out of your wheelhouse as an experimental hip hop album but it's so much more than that, Coin Locker Kid is the artist that pushes the genre further than anyone else. It's one of those albums you'll only ever be able to listen to for the first time once.
@peloquin5652 Жыл бұрын
beautiful reaction brother!
@timlarsson Жыл бұрын
6 months late, and I recommend checking out the wiki page for this album to compare the vinyl and CD version of this album. As others already said, this was the CD version. But it isn't that the last song was added on the CD, because parts of that song was parts of the vinyl version's second song. And the CD version's second song has parts of the vinyl version's second and first songs... and yeah, it's all different. There's some quiet singing on "The Sad Mafioso..." as well on the CD which isn't on the vinyl... I recommend both of them! So, since this was 6 months ago you probably already picked it up on vinyl - but if you haven't already: do it! It's a completely different experience, more condensed and shorter.

My dreams often include themes of coming apocalypse and being unable to do something with it. You just accept the death of all humanity, and this album is perfect representation of that feeling
