I'm not a fan of this movie, but there is one element in it that I do like wholeheartedly, and that is Zilla. As his own monster, he's an excellent creation: well-designed, interesting personality, great presence, and sympathetic. And I do feel very bad for him in this scene with him being tangled up and shot down without being given the chance to defend himself.

this whole scene was shot excellently. It really captures the sadness of Godzilla dying. The roar Godzilla screams the second time he gets hit by the missiles felt very real and pains me to see that. I also like the shot at 1:09. Its a moment where Nick is feeling empathy towards Godzilla. I'm sure he is thinking "How can we do this to him? We are making a huge mistake." And then Godzilla looks at Nick with pain in its eyes. Godzilla is thinking "Why are you letting this happen to me?" I wish I could've seen a closer bond between Godzilla and Nick. Kinda like a Toothless and Hiccup bond. That would have been ideal for me had they have made the sequel. That way, Nick can correct and redeem himself for helping kill the first Godzilla.

This movie is not that bad. When I first watched it, I did not know movies could be bad. But even realizing it's flaws, I still love it. I remember the day I first bought it from the library. People only hate the monster because it tries to be Godzilla. On it's own, Zilla is not that bad. It dodges missiles the rest of the movie. And here, It takes 12 missiles. And this particular type could destroy a battleship! What could destroy 12 battleships was needed to kill Zilla! Also, this scene is sad. The roads, and even the way it looks at Nick, as if it knows about the events in Godzilla The Series, which by the way is AWESOME, and asks Nick to care for the last baby.

Ya know, I don't think, 'Murdering Children' and 'good' go hand in hand. Now I'm only saying... hear me out, that killing children, isn't a nice thing to do. All jokes aside, its not the 'Godzilla killing children' that makes the first Godzilla film a masterpiece, its the grounded, realistic, gritty, and horrified feeling the film gave you, the viewer, when witnessing such a death, that makes it a great film.

I wish Godzilla King of the Monsters had still included the part when Nick walks close to Godzilla and Godzilla's heart stops beating and his eye closes too. And I wonder what they had did with Godzilla's body. The Military probably had the body lifted by a bunch of helicoptors to be transported to a United States Goverment research labratory so that scientists can examin the body for traces of radiation just like Nick did, And as I watched the Godzilla 1998 movie, I also wondered if the President of the United States was informed at the White House in Washington D.C that a giant monstrous lizard that was accidently created by nuclear contamination testings in French Polynesia was loose and had caused alot of lif-threatening damage in New York and had made a nest in Madison Square Garden and layed 200 eggs, And after the nest and Godzilla was destroyed, The President was probably brought to the government research labratory so that he can see the body of Godzilla for himself and the President probably would've made a statement live on national public television that the nuclear contamination testings in French Polynesia will be permanently put to an end to prevent another repeat of the incident once and for all. I wish they had made a Godzilla 2 sequal that takes place where it left off from the first movie most of with the same cast of Matthew Broderick as Dr. Nick Tatopoulos, Kevin Dunn as Col. Hicks, Doug Savant as Sgt. O'Neal, Viki Lewis as Dr. Elsie Chapman, Malcolm Danare as Dr. Mendel Craven, Michael Lerner as Mayor Ebert, Harry Shearer as Charles Caiman. Hank Azaria as Victor "Animal" Palotti, Arabella Field as Lucy Palotti, and Marai Pitillo as Audrey Timonds and had the second Godzilla full grown and shockingly surface and fight against another giant monster "Crustaceous Rex" that was also accidently created by the nuclear contamination testings in French Polynesia that created Godzilla. Anyway, I do believe the President was mentioned in the movie briefly by the Governor of New York, however like most of the dialogue in the film, it went over looked (something both American films fail at). I honestly would like a sequel, however I don't want it made in the same style of this movie. Zilla as a character is awesome, and I have many ideas on how they could approach a second film. I think C.rex would be a good side villain.

To be honest, I like this movie and I like the monster. I don't really have any issues with this besides calling the monster: Godzilla. This is not Godzilla in my opinion. The Godzilla I know would not have ran his way through New York. If the Godzilla I know was going to die, he wasn't gonna die without a fight. So this movie would have worked out GREAT if the monster wasn't called Godzilla. In fact, I believe this monster could have had a series of its own.

This is one of the dumbest death in monster history. You're telling me all it took was twelve missiles to take down a 330 foot long monster? Forget the fact that he's supposed to be Godzilla, ANY monster that big would never have been killed my that! wounded and bleeding, yes, but not killed! Especially if you factor in that this very same monster withstood two torpedoes, which would be way more powerful than a missile. Zilla didn't beed from those, so why missiles!? If he withsood torpedoes, Zillo SHOULD have withstood the missles! It makes no sense for Zilla to be dead.... ....unless.... ...He only *played* dead...

Honestly, Zilla is a really good design BUT. he is too weak for this size of a monster. Dead by missiles? Hes just about the size of Baragon or Anguirus, and both of them are pretty strong. Heck, Anguirus had been chopped into by Gigan's stomach saw and survived, and due to Zilla being weak he wouldve died instantly.
