Yeah. I once had an extremely strict English teacher in 8th grade. Never accepted late work, was harsh on her grading, and gave loads of homework daily. But, if you went to her for help before or after school, she was super nice about it and gave you some pointers in the right direction or whichever assignment it was that you needed help with. I got at least a letter grade higher each time, and I got more out of the assignment in the end.

I have the exact same physics teacher. Lots of people don’t like her because she’s quite strict and makes us do lots of supposedly unnecessary things to get higher marks in our exams. However she would be welcoming if you wanted to find her before or after school for help. I used to not like her but then I started using her advice and it made me so much better and actually physics is now my favourite subject

My teacher once told me about one of her students that was applying to a college, and his interest stemmed from the fact that director of the lion king attended that school. However throughout the essay he misspelled lion to loin, and you can imagine how that must’ve looked.

We had a an American college professor as our highschool English teacher. He’s around 65. His class was the hardest class especially since English is either everyone’s second language or third. You’re doing a miracle if you get above 95%. I got a 194 points on a 200 points worth essay and apparently other teachers told me he was always talking about how good of a writer I was. He even complimented me during class and he has never done that to a student before. I had that essay on my wall of awards.

I got my English teacher to review my entire essay, she gave me feedback, I fixed everything she told me and even spotted some of my own errors that she missed…..and still got a B Edit because this is very heated for some reason: yes the essay could have been better, now that I'm taking more advanced english classes I see some of the mistakes, however this teacher was generally not good seeing as how it was an advanced class and she gave us the same materials as the regular class and was easily persuaded by the class to change due dates, additionally she had not taught in several years due to working as a principal at another school. However I was upset because it was grammatical things that she pointed out and I lost the most points on things like that. She took points of for accidentally having an extra space (the essay was typed). I don't have the best depth perception so sometimes it's hard for me to tell where the spacing errors are and I wouldn't have been upset about her taking the points off if she had pointed them out when I asked her to check my essay.the other most common reply was the typo I had in my original comment. It was most likely didn't realize I had already typed out the word therefore I typed it twice. Thank you, have a nice day/night and stay hydrated.

I had a strict English teacher in 8th grade. I tried my best in her class and I did good on the homework’s, but her tests and essays were hard. In the beginning of the 9 weeks, my grade dropped to a D after some bad grades. I asked her for help and eventually I raised it up to a B. However, since she knew that I only wanted As and so did my parents, she raised my 90B to a 93A for my effort. I did good the rest of the year as well. She probably helped me write really good essays in my high school years (which I am in now) and her teaching allowed me to a get a much higher act score in the future. I hated her at the time, but now I appreciate her a lot.

Yes, it is true that as an english literature student, back in school days, I wrote snd practiced for hours and hours on how can I write which will please the teacher, but failed. On listening to her ideas and intros, it really became a piece of cake. A little bit of hints on how she wants the essay to be and it really will be the greatest. That is why it is important to listen to the teacher while she provides lectures. Just follow the way the teacher likes it, not your way.

That's wonderful that they gave so much feedback. That's a good teacher. I did a near perfect presentation once and they said they had to nitpick to find things wrong with it. He gave criticism to help everyone help everyone learn. However he asked everyone if they wanted criticism beforehand. So each person could choose to get feedback or not. He was the harshest teacher in the whole school that I was aware of. Notorious. But he loosened up on the year I had him because he realized he was too strict and wasn't helping students by being too harsh. So he dialed it back and tried to understand how everyone was feeling at home and trying to respect anxiety. He gave people an option for a little bit off the grade of the presentations to not have an audience except him. So people with social anxiety wouldn't have to deal with crowds of students. He really tried to be a better teacher. He made too many students cry I think. Or maybe just got some feedback somewhere that made him rethink his methods and attitude.

I actually tried this and my teacher gave me 2 types of essays: Professional and straightforward other one was a enjoyable and enthusiastic essay. My essay was good for business means because it was professional and straight to to point. He told me to use figurative language because that would add enthusiasm.

This is very helpful advice. My teacher is super nice but an extremely strict grader. I talked to her about my intro and outline and she gave me lots of help with it (I got 91/100 second highest in the class) first time I’ve gotten a good grade on an essay

I go to online school but my teachers are so nice. My English teacher always sets up these sessions for writing time and gives feedback on those who ask. She has a google slide and we are able to input our intros or thesis and she’s give feedback. It’s honestly amazing! Beside that we still have tutor feedback which is usually 24 hours.

All my english teacher is busy and always not in class. But when they are in class, it is REALLY FUN. This happened for 3-4 years. Even without much learning, most of us still manage to get A+ because the exam is fairly easy. But now, we got a new english Teacher, and she is kind and fun too. She tell story ALOT. There one time she go from talking about the hills in our school to her experience going to New Zealand. She told alot of story but she manage teach alot too while telling us all sort of story. 10% Teaching 90% Storytelling but i learn more in those 2 months(because of quarantine) than my previous 2 years.

My comp teacher was pretty strict with grading. Many people did not do so good on the essay, so the day I had a research paper assigned, I was nervous since it was the final, so I forced myself to talk to the teacher after school, and boom, I was one of the very few who got an A on my paper. Sometimes just talking to your teacher's guys helps in the long run and leaves a good impression that you are interested in the class and your grade.

Even with less strict teachers, this works. By asking for the teacher's feedback, you can see what they want from the essay and how they want it written, meaning its free points for you after a quick revision and these points can cushion your class grade if you mess up on a test. If you have a talent for writing a decent quality essay really quickly, it helps, as you still have plenty of time to revise it. Better yet, if you have a parent who's pretty good with writing and literature related topics, ask for more feedback. Its an easy way to finesse an A on your essays or creative writing assignments. This strategy can also work with history or science projects or papers.

Yeah , I am having one right now , and she doesn't know much about english , but still , in test I would the highest marks out lf the whole section ,but when it comes to exam , I go to average level , it feels like it is done by any AI or something, and she says that it is higher level checking, even if the whole answer would be as same as she would have same , or even an answer made by me and with the words of the Textbook and the whole story.
