The poor beardie. It breaks my heart seeing a animal hurt. One thing I preach to anyone who wants any pet, make sure you can afford emergency vets, medication, up keep! They’re living things and deserve the same love and care as a human.
@ericahealey25594 жыл бұрын
Alex Tyler He mentioned in the video that the previous owner took the beardie to the vet (I think 2 different vets?) and neither of the vets were much help at all. I know you mean as a general thing and I completely agree, but sometimes these things just happen. It seems like they were trying to care for it to the best of their abilities, but it’s still good that they gave her up.
@alexandriadeluca86054 жыл бұрын
Erica Healey I understand what you’re saying, but letting it get as bad as it has is disgusting. The first and second vet didn’t work then find another. Don’t let it suffer and then give it to someone else for it to there problem. No animal should get to this point. Stuck shed? There is no excuse for that amount and that bad is stuck shed that the actual scales have rotted and are coming off. There is no excuse. I respect your opinion I do but everyone has different opinions :)
@ericahealey25594 жыл бұрын
Alex Tyler True. There’s also the possibility that there aren’t any exotic vets in the area. I don’t own reptiles currently but like, there are no exotic vets near me so it’ll be quite a long drive. Infections can set in pretty quickly depending on certain factors so it could have been a long time or a short amount of time. The only two possible excuses for stuck shed would be they didn’t want to stress her out cuz it weakens their immune system if it’s too much, and then humidity being too low (which could have been recommended to slow bacterial growth). Plus people are told by vets and other professionals to never help a reptile shed, which I kind of disagree with. If it’s stuck then yeah help it out but don’t just start ripping off scales, cuz some people do that and it’s very dangerous. Idk. I just generally try to give people the benefit of the doubt because sometimes things just happen. At the end of the day they tried, they failed, and they found a solution. Thank you for being so pleasant ahhhh
@alexandriadeluca86054 жыл бұрын
Erica Healey I own a beardie and on occasions I do have to give a little helping hand with stuck shed but I appreciate that they sort help with Alex and not let it get any worse. I just hope the little one gets through, if I lived in the US I’d buy that little guy, he just looks so cute. It kinda sucks that exotic vets seem to be either miles way or there is loads in one area. I highly recommend anyone with reptiles or pets in general to get betadine solution. If you suspect any skin infections just let them soak in it if you can’t get to a vet ASAP. It’s handy just to have on hand and it help prevent infections getting as bad as we see some do.

One question, do the animals breathe well in the box when they’re shipped? (I don’t know much about this haha) and how long can they be without eating?
@ThatOneGuy-hg1ep4 жыл бұрын
The boxes they are shipped in are not airtight so air can easily get in and out and they are shipped overnight so they only stay in the box for like 8 hours.
@ericaj9224 жыл бұрын
Also most reptiles do not eat daily anyway, a lot of the common lizards (like leopard geckos) eat 3x a week while snakes eat once a week to once a month or even longer, so as long as they aren’t starved and in the process of dying already a few days without food isn’t going to harm them.
