Totally agree with you I'm playing like this in top tier and find it so much more fun that just bvr trying to dogfight people. You should definitely do the same kind of video with the 2k 5f with the mica that are actually monsters in dogfight and the airframe is good too I get consistent 3 to 5 kills every game.

Using the Gripen A to grind the Gripen C is really no big difficulty, because the A still holds up so well in close engagements and if you're not an idiot it's pretty trivial to approach people without dying to Fox-3's.

This also works VERY WELL with the micas on the 2000 5f. They pull so hard after the buff. And like you said it’s just fun to force the enemies hand. A lot of people tend to panic and I’m pretty sure I made a F-15c player shit his pants the other day doing this.

Currently my favorite jet and my favorite strategy since the start of the Fox-3 patch. I love the UK Gripen as well since the R-Darders tend to fly up even when shot from short range which sometimes means they avoid the ground more than AIM-120s so they can be better in close near to the ground fights.

Can you do a vid on the Su27sm/ J11A? Because im stuck in the J11A and that thing is just such hot dogshit to fly in top tier rn. Like I can't figure out what it's strengths are. Sucks at dogfighting, sucks in BVR, weaker missiles, bad radar, 1-2 DL channels, not alot of cm's compared to other top tier jets. Only thing I can think of is it has more missiles and better IRCCM heatseekers. But how often are you using those?

It doesn't have any strengths. It doesn't even have "better" IRCCM heatseekers. Just different, and the 9M IMO is arguably better in most use cases. My advice is to fly like a rat down by the ground. Use terrain like canyons and mountains to try to sneak your way into pitbull range and then fling R-77's at people from close range. Unfortunately you'll STILL be at a disadvantage since your ACM mode only has 10km range to your opponent's 19km range. But it's better than the suicide of attempting BVR with the R-77 or Fox-1's.

Here's the trick, you fly defensive (passive) and just hope you don't get pushed by the FOX-3 slinger. Sounds fun right?

You can if you want just play super agro on the deck with 29G and hope you can get close enough to prevent people from fucking off to stop you from killing them with your ER’s. If you feel overwhelmed you can just fly away because you are the fastest thing on the deck.

@@Loudward__ Of course you don't have to, by all means you can chose to not play passively. You can ground hug, use terrain and go aggressive but if you get caught out you're SOL. You don't really have enough countermeasures to be spamming chaff against radar missiles, and being the fastest on the deck is irrelevant if you're inside the MAR, and besides if you notch you reduce your speed and allows your bandit to close in putting you in a worse position. Yes, your missile kit is good. The ET / ER and r73 + HMD combo is lethal but you still need to get the drop on people. If they know you're there and they have FOX-3s they can just force you away because while your best counter needs to maintain lock all the way in, they can just fire and forget and put you in a notch. If you do get close and into the merge you are quite capable of beating the likes of Flankers and F-15s, but getting there in the first place is the problem given the above concerns.

Since the all-aspect slingers got moved up, 9.0 is now the peak of fun (minus F104 spam, but 99% of F104 players are lobotomised). I suggest you play the CL-13B, which is stupid good right now. Alternatively F104J that stayed 10.3

Defyn, do you think the Gripen should perform that well? We have a lot of delta wings in the game and they are usuallly super high drag so it cuts into their performance. But that thing flys so very good. I wonder if it was because if they made it bad they wouldn't sell as many premiums? So it is naturally outpacing the other nations?

The "notch" is so funny to me in WT, it might actually be worse then DCS lol. All you have to do is hit the 90° for a second and puff, missile notched. Actually i take it back, itsnot worse then DCS, chaff works in WT. What a weird time for military sims 😅

Someone did a video about missiles in dcs and countermeasures. Countermeasures are rng and you can notch everything even though most modern missiles are almost impossible to notch 😂 war thunder as of current has a more accurate simulation but I mean its just that a simulation not the real thing.

I mean look how Defyn "notches" multiple times just by hitting 90° for 1 second and being higher then the missile and enemy radar. The countermeasures in the Gripen are a mix of regular stuff (Like the ones you have in your Flanker) and something called BOL, in effect it's just a bunch of smaller pieces of chaff or flares in little tubes or something similar. So in short yes they are just a tad smaller.
