Finally found an American using SA style rods...always wondered how they would do in the states! :) using the same here in Dubai, the first time I casted this out, I was hooked! And you got a Grinder too! :D

In South Africa that is the style of fishing and rod / reel setups we have used for generations, also good for fighting big fish...lots of leverage and fight with the reel in the low position, and the arms up on top with rod but in the rod bucket.

Hi from Cape Town South Africa. We pretty much use the same set up you're using and its awesome. Lately however we've been droning baits in but still casting with the Daiwas also.

I bought 2 Assassin rods from South Africa. Tried them out in Norway last October. Superb. Even took them to the beach in England to see what a pendulum cast would be like. Outstanding. They are up with my Century Kompressure rods. Love to take on the casting court.

Love seeing more people in the US use low-reel configurations... makes big rigs and sinkers fly a little farther, in our experience.

could you do a tutorial on the casting? been trying to cast on how you've been casting but its been a struggle. i've only been able to get a good distance on the basic form of casting but the swing motion has been so hard to nail.

Basic_Fishing I hear ya!!! Very cool. Lie reel casting is a small learning curve. But I promise you bud. Once you get it figured out. You will never fish high reels for casting bait again. The evo is nice. Iv got the evo xh extra long. It’s great

Have a look at adding a braided leader to absorb some of the wear from the bionic finger.

@@slideline_usa2840 interesting. My daily setup is a 20k seragosa on an assassin horizon zero. I spooled the gosa with 68lbs to a 180lbs jdb casting leader tied with a uni knot. Never once had an issue. (JDB is another South African braid). The casting leader is showing a bit of wear after a few months. Before adding the leader i lost some end tackle from casting wear.

Looks like you're using a hatteras cast and getting some great distance. I was taught the off the ground cast by Neil Mackellow many years ago. He was throwing 5oz lead 700+ feet. I'm lucky to get 250 ft with 6oz and a bunker head. But learning different throws is a good way to improve, thanks. Maybe see ya on AI, my home turf.
@slideline_usa2840
@slideline_usa2840 3 жыл бұрын
Rick Gaynor I hear ya. The off the ground cast is excellent. Only issue is I’m usually throwing an 8oz Sputnik sinker. It gets stuck In the sand if I throw off the ground. lol Yeah bud. If you ever see an idiot swinging a 14 ft stick. It’s probably me. Come say hi.
@rickgaynor1740
@rickgaynor1740 3 жыл бұрын
I usually use spudniks too, unless it's real calm, but I swing it behind me parallel with the ground and let it go. I'm getting too old to throw too far and most time I feel I'm casting over the fish. I've even got to the point of not using shock leader. Most guys I see on Assateague are yaking baits out while shark fishing but I'm not sharking. To each their own.

Were they all 8oz? Have you compared side by side between the low mount to a "regular" rod seat using the same reels and weights?After watching all your vids tonight you're the 1st I have seen using the low mount.They have me curious to use other than surf fishing. To me these seem a lil clunky and wouldn't be able to get as fast of an leverage action out of the rod.Kind of like comparing a .35 Rem to a .243 Win. in a way. I also like to turn my reels on their side while casting,it cuts back on backlashes even more than good muscle memory thumbing the spool when you don't use any brakes. With 2oz bank sinkers and 30lb braid I know I can get my 7'6" rod out to 100-120yds depending on the cast technique and 3's about 10-15 yds further.I have no idea what I was getting with the 9' 3-4oz pyramids and 30lb braid but it was much further. I don't have anything heavier than 4 oz. in my stockpile of weights.

Hi there. Hope you well. A quick Question. The power handle on your Saltiga Multiplier did you replace it yourself. Does the handle knob screw of or does a person have to drill it. I would like to put the round knob on mine. Any advise will be highly appreciated

I just got a diawa sealine, love it but I’m hit or miss with back lashing off I don’t really feather it with my thumb. Are you doing that also or is it just free casting. Maybe I’m letting too much brake off but if I put more brake on my cast is really hurting.
@slideline_usa2840
@slideline_usa2840 3 жыл бұрын
Tighten the spool tension knob so that the reel won’t backlash when you cast. Then get used to casting and thumb control. As you get more confidence in it. Loosen the knob. It may take time. Try going to a nearby lake or large field to practice. I cast mine very loose and with the high speed break in it. Also join me on Facebook at slideline USA I can give you a lot more information there. Hope this helps

here in South Africa we call it a "trigger release"and we use about 1 and half rod lengtes of mono or braid leader. I use 50 pond braid with 50pound mono leader on the beach, between the rock I use 180 pond braid leader, Google Zoo look fishing.

No power in the cast you have to build the power learn to pendulum and see your distance improve. And get a zippy or a century rod.
@slideline_usa2840
@slideline_usa2840 2 жыл бұрын
Iv broken both of those blanks. But yes. A pendulum would probably add a bit more distance. I just don’t use it anymore because I’m getting the lead out as far as I need it without it. You are also correct. I didn’t really punch any of the casts in the video as I explained in the video. I pretty much did this video because people were trying to say I wasn’t casting 100+ yrds.
