For people who want to know...4A to 4C hair (known as ''Black'' people's hair) is usually prone to dryness. It doesn't get as greasy as straight hair does (of course there are exceptions since we're all different). Once a week to twice a month is usually fine for washing (unless you sweat a lot). However, the mistake that most people with 4A to 4C hair make is not hydrating/moisturizing the hair. Washing the hair with shampoo can cause damage over time, but watering it every day is actually good. Our hair pretty much acts like a plant. It needs water and sunlight😌.

Your hair looks beautiful ❤ and you got them for $150!! 😱😱😱 My advice is: 1. Keep your wash day schedule-sometimes people assume “protective style” means they’re off the hook for taking care of their hair underneath, which is false. I normally wash my hair every 2 weeks so I kept that schedule whenever I have a protective style. Keep the scalp moisturized with leave-in conditioner, oils, etc. (braid spray is a good one, too!) 2. Like everyone else was saying, dip the braids in boiling hot water so they’ll loosen up and lay flat. 3. Don’t leave them in too long! The max I’ll do for a protective style is 12 weeks. There will be a lot of shedding when you take them out (the hair you would normally shed daily can’t shed for a while, lol)-just be patient and gentle when you take them out. 4. Rock them unapologetically. Our hair has the magic/juice, so it’s normal for people to be shook by it 🤪🙌🏽

Box braids and knotless braids are ultimately the same thing, only difference being the way the braids start. With knotless box braids you feed the hair extensions into your hair and regular box braids you begin the braid with the hair extensions at the root. As for care, the only thing I do is make sure I sleep with a satin bonnet or satin scarf to cut down on frizziness. I don't normally wear my braids for more than a month though. Unless you are are touching up the braids (meaning taking down and rebraiding them) it may be hard to keep the braids in for more than a month without them looking old and messy, especially if you're hair grows fast. Hope this helps!

The reason why Afro hair will not smell as fast and easily is Sebum. Sebum in general is a fat like material that all hairtypes are forming and building. When this fat like material is build up enough trough not intervening or not washing your hair, the hair will become greasy and that fatty circumstance of the hair can lead to dirt building up quicker which ends up in smelling. But the amount of Sebum building up solely depends on the hair type while hairtypes from 1a to like 3a will get easier greasy and therefore also smelly, it’s totally different almost the opposite with hairtypes from 3b to 4c. With those hairtypes Sebum builds up really slowly to almost none which is the reason why this hair will get really dry instead of greasy. And a side effect of almost no grease in the hair can lead to less dirt building up and therefore less or no smell. To my Afro hair sisters, if someone asked why and if it will smell, Sebum can be totally the answer why our hair will not smell or at least has totally different circumstances then straighter hair.

@@bjp1101 when did she say that?? I went back to where she was explaining her experience and I didn't hear nothing about her feeling uncomfortable about the students touching her hair, or maybe she pointed it out non-verbally but I didn't get it

Dip your ends to get them to lock, add some moose if you have any to keep it down. I get them a lot haha, just let me know if there’s more you need or anyone.

You are so beautiful! My partner is carribean and I am chinese and I am obsessed and keep watching these videos by "blasians" excited about what our future children would look like lol. P.s It's almost like the teacher didn't consider it your hair .. If it wasn't braids I doubt the teacher would grab it like that which makes me a bit sad. I love how it looks btw :)

When I wore braids like yours I'd wash the scalp weekly and gently wash the whole braid as needed too. Rinse them well. If your concerned about frizz use a stocking cap, (clean panty hose with legs tied and cut off, leaving the cap for your hair.)then shampoo hair with it on. Dandruff shampoo will help with a dry scalp and moisturize scalp eith leave in conditioner. Still should last 2 months, will loosen at the scalp as your hair grows, thats normal. Sleep with a scarf or satin bonnet.

You look lovely. Once you are tired of people friends or not, reaching for your hair, that IS OK. No one should reach for you just because they are curious. Your personal space and boundaries outweigh all external curiosities. Wash per usual, weekly or every two weeks as you see fit. But DO wash it and air dry.

This might be a weird compliment, but your voice is very soothing. Also, it’s completely understandable to not want your teacher to touch your hair. I wouldn’t be comfortable with it either, especially if they didn’t ask. I’m glad you received such positive reactions!

thanks for letting them observe it. it's a good way to educate people about different cultures. a lot of people in the USA think it's racist for people to be curious about the texture of our hair but it's really the only way for them to truly learn. seriously, thanks for the education you've given them
@christinamomern9100 Жыл бұрын
Nobody dislikes, or finds it racist when a person has questions about our hair. We find it disrespectful and races when they put their hands in our hair without asking or trying to pack us like we are a dog. If they have questions they can ask but you should never be touching anybody’s here. I don’t care what race they come from without permission.

Thats..not true curiosity and disrespect are VERY different. If you are American you should know this much.

I swear, women/girls of african descent have the patience of saints. I could never sit for hours getting my hair done, or do it myself. I already roll my eyes at having to deal with my 3 curly hairs (im balding help 😭) everyday. Gotta say, it does look like its worth it tho. Braids are so cute. I sometimes do two french braids to protect my hair, but I have very fine hair and a veryyy sensitive head and it can hurt a little bit. When I was a kid, the mom of one of my friends wanted to braid my hair like yours, but had to stop after like 3 braids because I was getting a massive headache from it. She was so sweet, but ma'm please, although I have curly hair, my caucasian scalp cannot handle all that 😭.

I've had braids nearly my whole my life. and honestly I never washed them while keeping them in for like 3-4 months lol (4 months max). I mean if you work out weekly and sweat alot then I guess. I've never had smelly braids. I always find it interesting how other cultures really think of our braids. When I was in my highschool as a minority, no one touched or grabbed my hair like that. At the same time, I wasn't very close to anyone in my class. I'd also feel uncomfortable if someone like a teacher just touched my hair with out asking.

In Nyc it cost 150 to 1000.00 .. you can use dry shampoo. To loosen it to make it flow better use hair foam and hot towel or steam makes it look more natural and less tight from the first day.. olive oil spray for moisture and I would wash my hair every 3 weeks with co wash more so then shampoo.. if I went swimming in the summer I washed it more with actual shampoo and then refreshed my hair with edge control and hair wrap.. in the winter dry shampoo

You’re not a golden retriever. I wouldn’t allow people to just touch and grab me. You’re a human, just as they are. Nothing wrong with setting boundaries.
@Fartsquad_ Жыл бұрын
But tbf you are not her; a student who is also of Korean descent, living in Korea. Korean students are naturally very touchy with each other but only if they are close friends. The interactions in this video seems very natural, they are all probably very close and physical affection and touch is probably an everyday thing for them. I saw especially girls always doing each other’s hair, hugging or cuddling with each other many times while I was there.
@aliinwonderland656 Жыл бұрын
@@Fartsquad_ I’ve lived in Korea, Germany, Dubai, Sweden, and Thailand as a black woman. People are curious but as I stated she’s not a petting zoo. Most people use the toilet and don’t wash their hands I wouldn’t allow them to touch all over me. She’s unfortunately been taught that because she’s different she is less then and that’s not true. No I’m not her, and neither are you. I’ve had the distinct privilege of being in awkward situations similar to hers and there’s nothing wrong with setting boundaries & letting people feel uncomfortable with the word no, which is a universal word. If she’s not petting them why must she allow it to be done to her.
@squares4u Жыл бұрын
@@aliinwonderland656 I think you’re definitely reading too much into it. They’re not treating her like an alien or an animal at the zoo. They’re asking questions from a place of curiosity, just as people in the West might do if hair was made up in a new or different way. Most people are happy to allow their friends to touch their hair.

I have some tips for the braids 1] use moose it helps alot 2] make sure you dip the ends in hot water if you didn't already 3] try to find a bonnet or wrap your hair with a scarf when sleeping 4] you probably know this one but don't wash your hair with the braids on it causes them to fuzz out faster.

When you dip them you do it in boiling hot water and try to get like halfway of the braids dipped as far as you can go make them a little looser and more flowy. But BEAUTIFUL ❤❤

African-Americans telling her she shouldn't allow people to touch her hair when she's African-korean where Koreans are known for their skinship between friends are family members. Smh. This is why she felt uncomfortable and she the teacher went up to grab her hair without asking, and I'm kinda disappointed for not seeing comments about this
@malo_mylo3014 Жыл бұрын
@@hanapop3358 that’s literally what I said- only her friends can touch it without verbally asking because they are close, but she and the teacher are not close thus why she got uncomfortable when he touched it. That’s why I said I was disappointed the comments wasn’t talking about that part.
