From everything I have heard (and i have heard from many sources) Japanese people are okay with foreigners wearing kimono as long as you are respectful, and you most definitely were! The pink kimono was so cute on you too! Your trip was amazing and I'm so happy you had a blast despite it seeming like finding veggie food options being and issue. You are brave to go in the summer but going for your birthday makes sense. Kanpai!

I think almost every culture is ok with people wearing their stuff and joining in with the culture, to the point they actively enjoy it, for some reason only a number of black people online seem to have a huge issue with this cultural appreciation stuff. Most other nationalities love people joining in with their culture.

I used to live in Tokyo, now in Osaka but it’s fun to see people’s first impression of Japan. It reminds me of when i first came here. Ni chome, the ch is pronounced as the ch charm. There’s a really cute mario bar called star club in that area of Shinjuku, I used to hang out there every week 😅 also your breakfast was natto, fermented soybeans and the kimono, never heard any Japanese say they think it’s inappropriate. On the contrary most think it’s great to see people having interest in traditional clothing
