Another great video! Thanks for all your efforts! I am leaving for my first week of high pointing in April and will knock out 9 states from Ohio to Florida and back. Most of them require no effort, but I’m excited for the only hike of the trip...Virginia. 👍🏼 Take care! Looking forward to your next video. 😀

Sounds great!! Be sure to enjoy yourself! Virginia is absolutely stunning and very rewarding. Very flat for most of the way and a little steep and tree covered about the end, but 80% of the way on the mountain is exceptionally nice. Be sure to report back!

That was really nice. For now, this one is looking to be the next one I go to. My most recent was Illinois's (in hindsight, I should have waited a few months as I gto stuck in the snow on my way back and waited like 24 hours for it to be towed out and get back to it) in February during President's Day weekend. After the troubles there, I've WELLLLLLL learnned my lesson and wont go to ANY of them if there's snow (There's, of course, gonna be exceptions, like Rainier [maybe]). From now on, it'll be highpointing spring/summer for me. But despite the troubles, it was still well worth the trouble.

Glad to hear you are learning as you go, haha. You didn't hear it form me, but Illinois is coming up really soon on this channel. Good to know it can be a bit treacherous in the wrong season.

Alaska has snow in the Spring

Very true! I would argue Alaska has the most snow in the spring, and Denali it self always has snow. That's exactly the issue, so many highpoints are like Alaska in that they are accessible only during a short portion of the year

I come from Southeast Alaska, in an Alaska Native village call Metlakatla, Alaska which is 16 miles south of Ketchikan. Where I come from in Alaska is rainforest and rains almost everyday

It may have been hard to walk in the snow at first, but it would've been harder if you went while it was melting. New Englanders call that period "mud season"; guess why.

It's entirely possible that as southerners we got the wrong idea, but it honestly did seem like it was melting while we were there. Even walking on the hard packed snowmobile trail, every step plunged at least 4 inches and sometimes up to a foot into the snow. It's definitely possible it gets worse, but to us it seemed pretty bad

@@grtshw What I meant was, when the snow is mostly gone, what you get is mud. Really thick, sticky mud. That's why they call it mud season. The best time to go to the North is that sweet spot after when the dirt hardens up (and the trees start blooming) and before it starts getting hot, humid, and buggy. That and the fall, when the leaves turn.

Ahh, understood. We area headed back up soon so hopefully that sweet spot is just about at the end of May, haha. Thanks for the info!
