I feel it would have been close. Goku was already starting to feel the effects of the virus before they even started fighting and I'll bet it was even earlier than that so Goku was already weaker before the fight even started. At one point Piccolo points out Goku's technique is sloppy and that if he were at full power he could have beaten 19 long before that point. This implies Goku could have beaten 19 as easily as Vegeta if he were able to get to full power. The fact Piccolo after seeing both SSJ Goku and Vegeta fight wasn't 100% about Vegeta being stronger shows they were probably pretty even. Also Vegeta was fairly close to 18 in power. She did still have a good edge but another huge factor was her infinite stamina

Are you trying to say Goku's speed without Instant Transmission was greater than Vegeta's? I think it was implied Goku used the Instant Transmission to get out of there and save his friends. Cell even says as much: "He's gone! What a strange technique! When did he learn that?" In other words, I don't think Goku's base speed was actually superior to Vegeta's, and I think most likely Vegeta really was stronger than Goku in that moment.

@@jamesk7256 goku’s mastered super saiyan is all around better than super vegeta. That’s why it’s a big deal they can walk around in super saiyan so casually him and Gohan attained the master super saiyan form which enables them to exert way more power than before without causing them stamina or ki drain and no speed debuff it’s the culmination of all the forms that led up to it and Goku is clearly faster and stronger being able to keep up with perfect form cell and do the best against the cell juniors. Let’s not forget that the most damage vegeta did was cuz cell stood there.

@@JayScrutchions That has nothing to do with this subject, which was before Vegeta reached ascended form or Goku achieved mastered SSJ. This video is about Vegeta vs Goku when 19 and 20 first arrived, and this guy was arguing Goku's base speed was greater than Vegeta's because he escaped Semi-perfect Cell. But the argument falls apart because it was just Goku using Instant Transmission.

Was speed really a theme of the whole android arc? I only remember it playing a role in that one fight

Yh it was cause that’s how ssj2 was realised. Vegeta and trunks were way too obsessed with increasing their power. Vegeta didn’t lose any speed because he knew when to stop but he just couldn’t break that super saiyan barrier because he didn’t think beyond quick power

You forgot to take into account that Goku might've gotten a zenkai boost from nearly dying. I can't really answer whether damage from a disease is the same thing as battle damage, but Goku definitely took enough damage from 19 to qualify. Even if it was a smaller boost, it would probably be enough to close the gap with Vegeta, which he likely would sense when Goku rolled up after the 18 fight, so that's another reason for him to stay relatively respectful.

I don’t think goku would use instant transmission to wear out Vegeta like that and most likely fight fairly. In the buu saga he didn’t do that and didn’t transform into super sayain 3 to honor their fight. But I see what you mean, if he utilized all his moves fighting like instant transmission and kaioken Vegeta is done.

No sir !Kaoken doesn’t last forever and a technique will not work on Vegeta twice!Only time this has ever happened was Hit from Universe 6 time skip which was 14 years down the timeline which is understandable since he was a alien from another universe

@@DecBirdalso you forget to factor in Vegeta got several Zinkai boasts throughout the series from Android 18 and Perfect Cell on top of the Super Vegeta transformation which gives him a buff in his SSJ form but he did not transcend into SSJ2!Goku didn’t receive any zenkai boasts throughout the series because he simply quit in the cell games unless you want to count the cell Jr fights!
