Man, I love these older FXR’s. They are getting to be harder and harder to find for cheap. I remember passing up on one years ago and now they are a super popular bike and they’re coming back. I bet the V-Rod will have that same thing in 30-40yrs. Just found your guys channel and I have spent the last hour watching your videos! 🤘🏼😎🤘🏼

Front end / wheel swaps are never easy, always have to modify something with harley parts. Great Work.

Hella random. But I’m pretty sure I bought my red sportster tins from you guys a couple years back hahah. I remember seeing that FXR on the lift when I picked it up

When I first bought my Dyna a Concord purple FXDX it had lowering blocks on the rear shocks witch was the first thing I took off but I thought it would be an easy one man job after a few cocktails I decided to tackle it not using my brain the first thing I did was remove the bolts from the bottom thinking I could just lift the rear of the bike no problem lol it was a problem thank god my wife was there to put the bolts Bach in while I hemaned the rear lol

Does this tree fit without mods to the bearings or shaft ? Which model/year you’re using ? Greetz from the Netherlands
@KingpinGarage3 жыл бұрын
The tree itself is the same as the one we took off only it’s powder coated black. The tree is the old style with the lock tab and the new legs slide right in no mods necessary.

Did you get factory length brake lines for the front calipers?
@KingpinGarage2 жыл бұрын
Yes. We used a factory length dual disk brake line setup
@PkwyDrive133 жыл бұрын
Are those shocks from Amazon? Like the cheapo ones? They definitely look it, I was tempted to try them on my fxdls, but ordered bitubo 14in instead yesterday
@KingpinGarage3 жыл бұрын
Yes they are. They rode okay but they hit the fender struts bad

Q: what was the benefit of doing the bleeding off the bike? ...seems what you did offline could be don eon the bike the same way. It a really nice looking FXR and the EVO should last forever (if you treat it right).
@KingpinGarage3 жыл бұрын
It could have been done on the bike, but it would have been a little more difficult to access the two calipers. The bench bleed system we made had them right next to each other
@DeeInTheHouse3 жыл бұрын
@@KingpinGarage were you just limited by the short tubes... you could just have longer tubes on the "reverse bleed syringe" going to each caliper (if done on the bike)
@KingpinGarage3 жыл бұрын
yes we could have but doing it on the bench was just easier. we could’ve gone either way
@skeeters65 Жыл бұрын
What did you use to space the calipers to the lower legs?
@KingpinGarage Жыл бұрын
These calipers do not need to be spaced from the 2000-up 39mm lower legs
@KingpinGarage Жыл бұрын
They bolt right up

How did you find the lever feel with the factory fxr master? Is it the 5/8 one your running?
@KingpinGarage3 жыл бұрын
We knew we wanted dual calipers so we upgraded to the 11/16 master cylinder. It has great lever feel. Not to grabby but not too mushy

Do you know exactly what brembos your using here? I just bought a fxdx front end for my Fxr doing the same swap, I’m thinking about doing the same calipers as you, I just can’t figure out which ones to pick. They have them for to many different models
@KingpinGarage2 жыл бұрын
These brembos are the ones that appear on baggers and these ones specifically are from a cvo bagger. They have the ‘00-Up bolt pattern (the ‘84-‘99 brake mount is much larger). The brembos only had the 00 up bolt style. What year is your front end from?

LIKE THE VIDEO BUT RISER BARS ON A FXR? I SEE THEM ALL OVER THE PLACE BUT THEY DEFEAT THE WHOLE INTENTION OF A FXR, YOU LIKE THEM, THAT'S COOL, FOR ME THEY PUT YOU UP IN THE WIND AND TIRE YOU OUT, YOU HAVE ALLOT LESS CONTROL OF THE BIKE BUT I GET STYLE IS THE THING HERE BUT ON A FXR ITS COUNTER INTUITIVE TO ME. THE BRAKE BLEEDING WHY GO TO ALL THE TROUBLE/WORK YOU WENT THROUGH TO DO THE SAME THING YOU WOULD HAVE DONE BLEEDING THEM ON THE BIKE? THE SYRINGE WAS ACTUALLY A PRETTY COOL SETUP THOUGH. I ALWAYS USE AN OLD SCHOOL DEDICATED HAND PUMP OIL CAN. HOLDING THE PARTS SEEING YOU PUTTING ON THE MASTER CYLINDER HOLDING THINGS TO ME IS A TOTAL PITA (YOU CUTTING THE VIDEO PROVES MY POINT) START TO FINISH AND RISKS SCRATCHING UP EVERYTHING YOU DID, WHICH LOOK REALLY REALLY GOOD. THE BREMBOS ARE A GREAT CALIPER, UPGRADED MY FXR AND FLHT WITH THEM AS WELL BUT PRETTY CONFIDENT THE SVO BREMBO'S ARE NOT ANY DIFFERENT THAN THE STANDARD BREMBO CALIPER OTHER THAN THE BADGING EMBLEM. THE IMPORTANT THING IS THE WHEEL END PLAY WITH TIMKEN BEARINGS AND AXLE SPACING TO CENTER THE CALIPERS OVER THOSE DISCS. MESS THAT UP AND ITS GOING TO LEAD TO A REALLY BAD DAY RIDING THAT BIKE.
@KingpinGarage3 жыл бұрын
The tall bars plus the fairing makes the riding position surprisingly comfortable. Had no issues with it.
